이사야5-8: 유대 백성의 악함

이사야 5장

 

5:1 내가 사랑하는 이에게 노래를 해 주겠네 그가 가꾸는 포도원을 노래하겠네 내가 사랑하는 사람은 기름진 언덕에서 포도원을 가꾸고 있네

( I will sing for the one I love a song about his vineyard: My loved one had a vineyard on a fertile hillside.)

 

5:2 땅을 일구고 돌을 골라 내고, 아주 좋은 포도나무를 심었네 그 한가운데 망대를 세우고, 거기에 포도주 짜는 곳도 파 놓고, 좋은 포도가 맺기를 기다렸는데, 열린 것이라고는 들포도뿐이었다네

( He dug it up and cleared it of stones and planted it with the choicest vines. He built a watchtower in it and cut out a winepress as well. Then he looked for a crop of good grapes, but it yielded only bad fruit.)

 

5:3 예루살렘 주민아, 유다 사람들아, 이제 너희는 나와 나의 포도원 사이에서 한 번 판단하여 보아라

( "Now you dwellers in Jerusalem and men of Judah, judge between me and my vineyard.)

 

5:4 내가 나의 포도원을 가꾸면서 빠뜨린 것이 무엇이냐? 내가 하지 않은 일이라도 있느냐? 나는 좋은 포도가 맺기를 기다렸는데 어찌하여 들포도가 열렸느냐?

( What more could have been done for my vineyard than I have done for it? When I looked for good grapes, why did it yield only bad?)

 

5:5 "이제 내가 내 포도원에 무슨 일을 하려는지를 너희에게 말하겠다 울타리를 걷어치워서, 그 밭을 못쓰게 만들고, 담을 허물어서 아무나 그 밭을 짓밟게 하겠다

( Now I will tell you what I am going to do to my vineyard: I will take away its hedge, and it will be destroyed; I will break down its wall, and it will be trampled.)

 

5:6 내가 그 밭을 황무지로 만들겠다 가지치기도 못하게 하고 북주기도 못하게 하여, 찔레나무와 가시나무만 자라나게 하겠다 내가 또한 구름에게 명하여, 그 위에 비를 내리지 못하게 하겠다"

( I will make it a wasteland, neither pruned nor cultivated, and briers and thorns will grow there. I will command the clouds not to rain on it.")

 

5:7 이스라엘은 만군의 주님의 포도원이고, 유다 백성은 주님께서 심으신 포도나무다 주님께서는 그들이 선한 일 하기를 기대하셨는데, 보이는 것은 살육뿐이다 주님께서는 그들이 옳은 일 하기를 기대하셨는데, 들리는 것은 그들에게 희생된 사람들의 울부짖음뿐이다

( The vineyard of the LORD Almighty is the house of Israel, and the men of Judah are the garden of his delight. And he looked for justice, but saw bloodshed; for righteousness, but heard cries of distress.)

 

5:8 너희가, 더 차지할 곳이 없을 때까지, 집에 집을 더하고, 밭에 밭을 늘려 나가, 땅 한가운데서 홀로 살려고 하였으니, 너희에게 재앙이 닥친다!

( Woe to you who add house to house and join field to field till no space is left and you live alone in the land.)

 

5:9 만군의 주님께서 나의 귀에다 말씀하셨다 "많은 집들이 반드시 황폐해지고, 아무리 크고 좋은 집들이라도 텅 빈 흉가가 되어서, 사람 하나 거기에 살지 않을 것이다

( The LORD Almighty has declared in my hearing: "Surely the great houses will become desolate, the fine mansions left without occupants.)

 

5:10 또한 열흘 갈이 포도원이 포도주 한 바트밖에 내지 못하며, 한 호멜의 씨가 겨우 한 에바밖에 내지 못할 것이다"

( A ten-acre vineyard will produce only a bath of wine, a homer of seed only an ephah of grain.")

 

5:11 아침에 일찍 일어나 독한 술을 찾는 사람과, 밤이 늦도록 포도주에 얼이 빠져 있는 사람에게, 재앙이 닥친다!

( Woe to those who rise early in the morning to run after their drinks, who stay up late at night till they are inflamed with wine.)

 

5:12 그들이, 연회에는 수금과 거문고와 소구와 피리와 포도주를 갖추었어도, 주님께서 하시는 일에는 관심이 없고, 주님께서 손수 이루시는 일도 거들떠보지를 않는다

( They have harps and lyres at their banquets, tambourines and flutes and wine, but they have no regard for the deeds of the LORD, no respect for the work of his hands.)

 

5:13 "그러므로 나의 백성은 지식이 없어서 포로가 될 것이요, 귀족은 굶주리고 평민은 갈증으로 목이 탈 것이다"

( Therefore my people will go into exile for lack of understanding; their men of rank will die of hunger and their masses will be parched with thirst.)

 

5:14 그러므로 스올이 입맛을 크게 다시면서, 그 입을 한없이 벌리니, 그들의 영화와 법석거림과 떠드는 소리와 즐거워하는 소리가, 다 그 곳으로 빠져 들어갈 것이다

( Therefore the grave enlarges its appetite and opens its mouth without limit; into it will descend their nobles and masses with all their brawlers and revelers.)

 

5:15 그래서 천한 사람도 굴욕을 당하고 귀한 사람도 비천해지며, 눈을 치켜 뜨고 한껏 거만을 부리던 자들도 기가 꺾일 것이다

( So man will be brought low and mankind humbled, the eyes of the arrogant humbled.)

 

5:16 그러나 만군의 주님께서는 공평하셔서 높임을 받으시고, 거룩하신 하나님은 의로우셔서 거룩하신 분으로 기림을 받으실 것이다

( But the LORD Almighty will be exalted by his justice, and the holy God will show himself holy by his righteousness.)

 

5:17 그 때에 어린 양들이 그 폐허에서 마치 초장에서처럼 풀을 뜯을 것이며, 낯선 사람들이, 망한 부자들의 밭에서 그 산물을 먹을 것이다

( Then sheep will graze as in their own pasture; lambs will feed among the ruins of the rich.)

 

5:18 거짓으로 끈을 만들어 악을 잡아당기며, 수레의 줄을 당기듯이 죄를 끌어당기는 자들에게 재앙이 닥친다!

( Woe to those who draw sin along with cords of deceit, and wickedness as with cart ropes,)

 

5:19 기껏 한다는 말이 "하나님더러 서두르시라고 하여라 그분이 하고자 하시는 일을 빨리 하시라고 하여라 그래야 우리가 볼 게 아니냐 계획을 빨리 이루시라고 하여라 이스라엘의 거룩하신 분께서 세우신 계획이 빨리 이루어져야 우리가 그것을 알 게 아니냐!" 하는구나

( to those who say, "Let God hurry, let him hasten his work so we may see it. Let it approach, let the plan of the Holy One of Israel come, so we may know it.")

 

5:20 악한 것을 선하다고 하고 선한 것을 악하다고 하는 자들, 어둠을 빛이라고 하고 빛을 어둠이라고 하며, 쓴 것을 달다고 하고 단 것을 쓰다고 하는 자들에게, 재앙이 닥친다!

( Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter.)

 

5:21 스스로 지혜롭다 하며, 스스로 슬기롭다 하는 그들에게, 재앙이 닥친다!

( Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes and clever in their own sight.)

 

5:22 포도주쯤은 말로 마시고, 온갖 독한 술을 섞어 마시고도 끄떡도 하지 않는 자들에게, 재앙이 닥친다!

( Woe to those who are heroes at drinking wine and champions at mixing drinks,)

 

5:23 그들은 뇌물을 받고 악인을 의롭다고 하며, 의인의 정당한 권리를 빼앗는구나

( who acquit the guilty for a bribe, but deny justice to the innocent.)

 

5:24 그러므로 지푸라기가 불길에 휩싸이듯, 마른 풀이 불꽃에 타들어 가듯, 그들의 뿌리가 썩고, 꽃잎이 말라서, 티끌처럼 없어질 것이다 그들은 만군의 주님의 율법을 버리고, 이스라엘의 거룩하신 분의 말씀을 멸시하였다

( Therefore, as tongues of fire lick up straw and as dry grass sinks down in the flames, so their roots will decay and their flowers blow away like dust; for they have rejected the law of the LORD Almighty and spurned the word of the Holy One of Israel.)

 

5:25 그러므로 주님께서 백성에게 진노하셔서 손을 들어 그들을 치시니, 산들이 진동하고, 사람의 시체가 거리 한가운데 버려진 쓰레기와 같다 그래도 주님께서는 진노를 풀지 않으시고, 심판을 계속하시려고 여전히 손을 들고 계신다

( Therefore the LORD'S anger burns against his people; his hand is raised and he strikes them down. The mountains shake, and the dead bodies are like refuse in the streets. Yet for all this, his anger is not turned away, his hand is still upraised.)

 

5:26 주님께서 깃발을 올리셔서 먼 곳의 민족들을 부르시고, 휘파람으로 그들을 땅 끝에서부터 부르신다 그들이 빠르게 달려오고 있다

( He lifts up a banner for the distant nations, he whistles for those at the ends of the earth. Here they come, swiftly and speedily!)

 

5:27 그들 가운데 아무도 지쳐 있거나 비틀거리는 사람이 없고, 졸거나 잠자는 사람이 없으며, 허리띠가 풀리거나 신발끈이 끊어진 사람이 없다

( Not one of them grows tired or stumbles, not one slumbers or sleeps; not a belt is loosened at the waist, not a sandal thong is broken.)

 

5:28 그들의 화살은 예리하게 날이 서 있고, 모든 활시위는 쏠 준비가 되어 있다 달리는 말발굽은 부싯돌처럼 보이고, 병거 바퀴는 회오리바람과 같이 구른다

( Their arrows are sharp, all their bows are strung; their horses' hoofs seem like flint, their chariot wheels like a whirlwind.)

 

5:29 그 군대의 함성은 암사자의 포효와 같고, 그 고함 소리는 새끼 사자의 으르렁거림과 같다 그들이 소리 치며 전리품을 움켜 가 버리나, 아무도 그것을 빼앗지 못한다

( Their roar is like that of the lion, they roar like young lions; they growl as they seize their prey and carry it off with no one to rescue.)

 

5:30 바로 그 날에, 그들이 이 백성을 보고서, 바다의 성난 파도같이 함성을 지를 것이니, 사람이 그 땅을 둘러보면, 거기에는 흑암과 고난만 있고, 빛마저 구름에 가려져 어두울 것이다

( In that day they will roar over it like the roaring of the sea. And if one looks at the land, he will see darkness and distress; even the light will be darkened by the clouds.)

이사야 6장

 

6:1 웃시야 왕이 죽던 해에, 나는 높이 들린 보좌에 앉아 계시는 주님을 뵈었는데, 그의 옷자락이 성전에 가득 차 있었다

( In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord seated on a throne, high and exalted, and the train of his robe filled the temple.)

 

6:2 그분 위로는 스랍들이 서 있었는데, 스랍들은 저마다 날개를 여섯 가지고 있었다 둘로는 얼굴을 가리고, 둘로는 발을 가리고, 나머지 둘로는 날고 있었다

( Above him were seraphs, each with six wings: With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they were flying.)

 

6:3 그리고 그들은 큰소리로 노래를 부르며 화답하였다 "거룩하시다, 거룩하시다, 거룩하시다 만군의 주님! 온 땅에 그의 영광이 가득하다"

( And they were calling to one another: "Holy, holy, holy is the LORD Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory.")

 

6:4 우렁차게 부르는 이 노랫소리에 문지방의 터가 흔들리고, 성전에는 연기가 가득 찼다

( At the sound of their voices the doorposts and thresholds shook and the temple was filled with smoke.)

 

6:5 나는 부르짖었다 "재앙이 나에게 닥치겠구나! 이제 나는 죽게 되었구나! 나는 입술이 부정한 사람인데, 입술이 부정한 백성 가운데 살고 있으면서, 왕이신 만군의 주님을 만나 뵙다니!"

( "Woe to me!" I cried. "I am ruined! For I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips, and my eyes have seen the King, the LORD Almighty.")

 

6:6 그 때에 스랍들 가운데서 하나가, 제단에서 타고 있는 숯을, 부집게로 집어, 손에 들고 나에게 날아와서,

( Then one of the seraphs flew to me with a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with tongs from the altar.)

 

6:7 그것을 나의 입에 대며 말하였다 "이것이 너의 입술에 닿았으니, 너의 악은 사라지고, 너의 죄는 사해졌다"

( With it he touched my mouth and said, "See, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away and your sin atoned for.")

 

6:8 그 때에 나는 주님께서 말씀하시는 음성을 들었다 "내가 누구를 보낼까? 누가 우리를 대신하여 갈 것인가?" 내가 아뢰었다 "제가 여기에 있습니다 저를 보내어 주십시오"

( Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, "Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?" And I said, "Here am I. Send me!")

 

6:9 그러자 주님께서 말씀하셨다 "너는 가서 이 백성에게 '너희가 듣기는 늘 들어라 그러나 깨닫지는 못한다 너희가 보기는 늘 보아라 그러나 알지는 못한다' 하고 일러라

( He said, "Go and tell this people: "'Be ever hearing, but never understanding; be ever seeing, but never perceiving.')

 

6:10 너는 이 백성의 마음을 둔하게 하여라 그 귀가 막히고, 그 눈이 감기게 하여라 그리하여 그들이 볼 수 없고, 들을 수 없고 또 마음으로 깨달을 수 없게 하여라 그들이 보고 듣고 깨달았다가는 내게로 돌이켜서 고침을 받게 될까 걱정이다"

( Make the heart of this people calloused; make their ears dull and close their eyes. Otherwise they might see with their eyes, hear with their ears, understand with their hearts, and turn and be healed.")

 

6:11 그 때에 내가 여쭈었다 "주님! 언제까지 그렇게 하실 것입니까?" 그러자 주님께서 대답하셨다 "성읍들이 황폐하여 주민이 없어질 때까지, 사람이 없어서 집마다 빈 집이 될 때까지, 밭마다 모두 황무지가 될 때까지,

( Then I said, "For how long, O Lord?" And he answered: "Until the cities lie ruined and without inhabitant, until the houses are left deserted and the fields ruined and ravaged,)

 

6:12 나 주가 사람들을 먼 나라로 흩어서 이 곳 땅이 온통 버려질 때까지 그렇게 하겠다

( until the LORD has sent everyone far away and the land is utterly forsaken.)

 

6:13 주민의 십분의 일이 아직 그 곳에 남는다 해도, 그들도 다 불에 타 죽을 것이다 그러나 밤나무나 상수리나무가 잘릴 때에 그루터기는 남듯이, 거룩한 씨는 남아서, 그 땅에서 그루터기가 될 것이다"

( And though a tenth remains in the land, it will again be laid waste. But as the terebinth and oak leave stumps when they are cut down, so the holy seed will be the stump in the land.")

이사야 7장

 

7:1 웃시야의 손자요 요담의 아들인 유다 왕 아하스가 나라를 다스릴 때에, 시리아 왕 르신이 르말리야의 아들 이스라엘 왕 베가와 함께 예루살렘을 치려고 올라왔지만, 도성을 정복할 수 없었다

( When Ahaz son of Jotham, the son of Uzziah, was king of Judah, King Rezin of Aram and Pekah son of Remaliah king of Israel marched up to fight against Jerusalem, but they could not overpower it.)

 

7:2 시리아 군대가 에브라임에 주둔하고 있다는 말이 다윗 왕실에 전해 지자, 왕의 마음과 백성의 마음이 마치 거센 바람 앞에서 요동하는 수풀처럼 흔들렸다

( Now the house of David was told, "Aram has allied itself with Ephraim"; so the hearts of Ahaz and his people were shaken, as the trees of the forest are shaken by the wind.)

 

7:3 그 때에 주님께서 이사야에게 말씀하셨다 "너는 너의 아들 스알야숩을 데리고 가서, 아하스를 만나거라 그가 '세탁자의 밭'으로 가는 길, 윗못 물 빼는 길 끝에 서 있을 것이다

( Then the LORD said to Isaiah, "Go out, you and your son Shear-Jashub, to meet Ahaz at the end of the aqueduct of the Upper Pool, on the road to the Washerman's Field.)

 

7:4 그를 만나서, 그에게, 정신을 바짝 차리고, 침착하게 행동하라고 일러라 시리아의 르신과 르말리야의 아들이 크게 분노한다 하여도, 타다가 만 두 부지깽이에서 나오는 연기에 지나지 않으니, 두려워하거나 겁내지 말라고 일러라

( Say to him, 'Be careful, keep calm and don't be afraid. Do not lose heart because of these two smoldering stubs of firewood--because of the fierce anger of Rezin and Aram and of the son of Remaliah.)

 

7:5 시리아 군대가 아하스에게 맞서, 에브라임 백성과 그들의 왕 르말리야의 아들과 함께 악한 계략을 꾸미면서

( Aram, Ephraim and Remaliah's son have plotted your ruin, saying,)

 

7:6 올라가 유다를 쳐서 겁을 주고, 우리들에게 유리하도록 유다를 흩어지게 하며, 그 곳에다가 다브엘의 아들을 왕으로 세워 놓자'고 한다

( "Let us invade Judah; let us tear it apart and divide it among ourselves, and make the son of Tabeel king over it.")

 

7:7 주 하나님께서 말씀하신다 이 계략은 성공하지 못한다 절대로 그렇게 되지 못한다

( Yet this is what the Sovereign LORD says: "'It will not take place, it will not happen,)

 

7:8 시리아의 머리는 다마스쿠스이며, 다마스쿠스의 머리는 르신이기 때문이다 에브라임은 육십오 년 안에 망하고, 뿔뿔이 흩어져서, 다시는 한 민족이 되지 못할 것이다

( for the head of Aram is Damascus, and the head of Damascus is only Rezin. Within sixty-five years Ephraim will be too shattered to be a people.)

 

7:9 에브라임의 머리는 사마리아이고, 사마리아의 머리는 고작해야 르말리야의 아들이다 너희가 믿음 안에 굳게 서지 못한다면, 너희는 절대로 굳게 서지 못한다!"

( The head of Ephraim is Samaria, and the head of Samaria is only Remaliah's son. If you do not stand firm in your faith, you will not stand at all.'")

 

7:10 주님께서 아하스에게 다시 말씀하셨다

( Again the LORD spoke to Ahaz,)

 

7:11 "너는 주 너의 하나님에게 징조를 보여 달라고 부탁하여라 저 깊은 곳 스올에 있는 것이든, 저 위 높은 곳에 있는 것이든, 무엇이든지 보여 달라고 하여라"

( "Ask the LORD your God for a sign, whether in the deepest depths or in the highest heights.")

 

7:12 아하스가 대답하였다 "아닙니다 저는 징조를 구하지도 않고, 주님을 시험하지도 않겠습니다"

( But Ahaz said, "I will not ask; I will not put the LORD to the test.")

 

7:13 그 때에 이사야가 말하였다 "다윗 왕실은 들으십시오 다윗 왕실은 백성의 인내를 시험한 것만으로는 부족하여, 이제 하나님의 인내까지 시험해야 하겠습니까?

( Then Isaiah said, "Hear now, you house of David! Is it not enough to try the patience of men? Will you try the patience of my God also?)

 

7:14 그러므로 주님께서 친히 다윗 왕실에 한 징조를 주실 것입니다 보십시오, 처녀가 잉태하여 아들을 낳을 것이며, 그가 그의 이름을 임마누엘이라고 할 것입니다

( Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel.)

 

7:15 그 아이가 잘못된 것을 거절하고 옳은 것을 선택할 나이가 될 때에, 그 아이는 버터와 꿀을 먹을 것입니다

( He will eat curds and honey when he knows enough to reject the wrong and choose the right.)

 

7:16 그러나 그 아이가 잘못된 것을 거절하고 옳은 것을 선택할 나이가 되기 전에, 임금님께서 미워하시는 저 두 왕의 땅이 황무지가 될 것입니다

( But before the boy knows enough to reject the wrong and choose the right, the land of the two kings you dread will be laid waste.)

 

7:17 에브라임과 유다가 갈라진 때로부터 이제까지, 이 백성이 겪어 본 적이 없는 재난을, 주님께서는 임금님과 임금님의 백성과 임금님의 아버지 집안에 내리실 것입니다 주님께서 앗시리아의 왕을 끌어들이실 것입니다

( The LORD will bring on you and on your people and on the house of your father a time unlike any since Ephraim broke away from Judah--he will bring the king of Assyria.")

 

7:18 그 날에 주님께서 휘파람을 불어 이집트의 나일 강 끝에 있는 파리 떼를 부르시며, 앗시리아 땅에 있는 벌 떼를 부르실 것입니다

( In that day the LORD will whistle for flies from the distant streams of Egypt and for bees from the land of Assyria.)

 

7:19 그러면 그것들이 모두 몰려와서, 거친 골짜기와 바위틈, 모든 가시덤불과 모든 풀밭에 내려앉을 것입니다

( They will all come and settle in the steep ravines and in the crevices in the rocks, on all the thornbushes and at all the water holes.)

 

7:20 그 날에 주님께서 유프라테스 강 건너 저편에서 빌려 온 면도칼 곧 앗시리아 왕을 시켜서 당신들의 머리털과 발털을 미실 것이요, 또한 수염도 밀어 버리실 것입니다

( In that day the Lord will use a razor hired from beyond the River--the king of Assyria--to shave your head and the hair of your legs, and to take off your beards also.)

 

7:21 그 날에는, 비록 한 농부가 어린 암소 한 마리와 양 두 마리밖에 기르지 못해도,

( In that day, a man will keep alive a young cow and two goats.)

 

7:22 그것들이 내는 젖이 넉넉하여, 버터를 만들어 먹을 수 있을 것입니다 그 땅에 남아 있는 사람들이 모두 버터와 꿀을 먹을 수 있을 것입니다

( And because of the abundance of the milk they give, he will have curds to eat. All who remain in the land will eat curds and honey.)

 

7:23 그 날에는, 은 천 냥 값이 되는 천 그루의 포도나무가 있던 곳마다, 찔레나무와 가시나무로 덮일 것입니다

( In that day, in every place where there were a thousand vines worth a thousand silver shekels, there will be only briers and thorns.)

 

7:24 온 땅이 찔레나무와 가시나무로 덮이므로, 사람들은 화살과 활을 가지고 그리로 사냥을 갈 것입니다

( Men will go there with bow and arrow, for the land will be covered with briers and thorns.)

 

7:25 괭이로 일구던 모든 산에도 찔레나무와 가시나무가 덮이므로, 당신은 두려워서 그리로 가지도 못할 것이며, 다만 소나 놓아 기르며, 양이나 밟고 다니는 곳이 되고 말 것입니다"

( As for all the hills once cultivated by the hoe, you will no longer go there for fear of the briers and thorns; they will become places where cattle are turned loose and where sheep run.)

이사야 8장

 

8:1 주님께서 나에게 말씀하셨다 "너는 큰 서판을 가지고 와서, 그 위에 두루 쓰는 글자로 '마헬살랄하스바스'라고 써라

( The LORD said to me, "Take a large scroll and write on it with an ordinary pen: Maher-Shalal-Hash-Baz.)

 

8:2 내가 진실한 증인 우리야 제사장과 여베레기야의 아들 스가랴를 불러 증언하게 하겠다"

( And I will call in Uriah the priest and Zechariah son of Jeberekiah as reliable witnesses for me.")

 

8:3 그런 다음에 나는 예언자인 나의 아내를 가까이하였다 그러자 그 예언자가 임신하여 아들을 낳았는데, 그 때에 주님께서 나에게 이렇게 말씀하셨다 "그의 이름을 '마헬살랄하스바스'라고 하여라

( Then I went to the prophetess, and she conceived and gave birth to a son. And the LORD said to me, "Name him Maher-Shalal-Hash-Baz.)

 

8:4 이 아이가 '아빠, 엄마'라고 부를 줄 알기도 전에, 앗시리아 왕이 다마스쿠스에서 빼앗은 재물과 사마리아에서 빼앗은 전리품을 가져 갈 것이다"

( Before the boy knows how to say 'My father' or 'My mother,' the wealth of Damascus and the plunder of Samaria will be carried off by the king of Assyria.")

 

8:5 주님께서 또 나에게 말씀하셨다

( The LORD spoke to me again:)

 

8:6 "이 백성이 고요히 흐르는 실로아 물은 싫어하고, 르신과 르말리야의 아들을 좋아하니,

( "Because this people has rejected the gently flowing waters of Shiloah and rejoices over Rezin and the son of Remaliah,)

 

8:7 나 주가, 저 세차게 넘쳐 흐르는 유프라테스 강물 곧 앗시리아 왕과 그의 모든 위력을, 이 백성 위에 뒤덮이게 하겠다 그 때에 그 물이 온 샛강을 뒤덮고 둑마다 넘쳐서,

( therefore the Lord is about to bring against them the mighty floodwaters of the River--the king of Assyria with all his pomp. It will overflow all its channels, run over all its banks)

 

8:8 유다로 밀려들고, 소용돌이치면서 흘러, 유다를 휩쓸고, 유다의 목에까지 찰 것이다" 임마누엘! （하나님께서 우리와 함께 계신다!） 하나님께서 날개를 펴셔서 이 땅을 보호하신다

( and sweep on into Judah, swirling over it, passing through it and reaching up to the neck. Its outspread wings will cover the breadth of your land, O Immanuel!")

 

8:9 너희 민족들아! 어디, 전쟁의 함성을 질러 보아라 패망하고 말 것이다 먼 나라에서 온 민족들아, 귀를 기울여라 싸울 준비를 하여라 그러나 마침내 패망하고 말 것이다 싸울 준비를 하여라 그러나 마침내 패망하고 말 것이다

( Raise the war cry, you nations, and be shattered! Listen, all you distant lands. Prepare for battle, and be shattered! Prepare for battle, and be shattered!)

 

8:10 전략을 세워라 그러나 마침내 실패하고 말 것이다 계획을 말해 보아라 마침내 이루지 못할 것이다 하나님께서 우리와 함께 계시기 때문이다

( Devise your strategy, but it will be thwarted; propose your plan, but it will not stand, for God is with us.)

 

8:11 주님께서 그 힘센 손으로 나를 붙잡고, 이 백성의 길을 따라가지 말라고, 나에게 이렇게 경고의 말씀을 하셨다

( The LORD spoke to me with his strong hand upon me, warning me not to follow the way of this people. He said:)

 

8:12 "너희는 이 백성이 모의하는 음모에 가담하지 말아라 그들이 두려워하는 것을 두려워하지 말며, 무서워하지도 말아라

( "Do not call conspiracy everything that these people call conspiracy; do not fear what they fear, and do not dread it.)

 

8:13 너희는 만군의 주 그분만을 거룩하다고 하여라 그분만이 너희가 두려워할 분이시고, 그분만이 너희가 무서워할 분이시다

( The LORD Almighty is the one you are to regard as holy, he is the one you are to fear, he is the one you are to dread,)

 

8:14 그는 성소도 되시지만, 이스라엘의 두 집안에게는 거치는 돌도 되시고 걸리는 바위도 되시며, 예루살렘 주민에게는 함정과 올가미도 되신다

( and he will be a sanctuary; but for both houses of Israel he will be a stone that causes men to stumble and a rock that makes them fall. And for the people of Jerusalem he will be a trap and a snare.)

 

8:15 많은 사람이 거기에 걸려서 넘어지고 다치며, 덫에 걸리듯이 걸리고 사로잡힐 것이다"

( Many of them will stumble; they will fall and be broken, they will be snared and captured.")

 

8:16 나는 이 증언 문서를 밀봉하고, 이 가르침을 봉인해서, 나의 제자들이 읽지 못하게 하겠다

( Bind up the testimony and seal up the law among my disciples.)

 

8:17 주님께서 비록 야곱의 집에서 얼굴을 돌리셔도, 나는 주님을 기다리겠다 나는 주님을 의지하겠다

( I will wait for the LORD, who is hiding his face from the house of Jacob. I will put my trust in him.)

 

8:18 내가 여기에 있고, 주님께서 나에게 주신 이 아이들이 여기에 있다 나와 아이들은, 시온 산에 계시는 만군의 주님께서 이스라엘에게 보여 주시는, 살아 있는 징조와 예표다

( Here am I, and the children the LORD has given me. We are signs and symbols in Israel from the LORD Almighty, who dwells on Mount Zion.)

 

8:19 그런데도, 사람들은 너희에게 말할 것이다 "속살거리며 중얼거리는 신접한 자와 무당에게 물어 보아라 어느 백성이든지 자기들의 신들에게 묻는 것은 당연하다 산 자의 문제에 교훈과 지시를 받으려면, 죽은 자에게 물어 보아야 한다"

( When men tell you to consult mediums and spiritists, who whisper and mutter, should not a people inquire of their God? Why consult the dead on behalf of the living?)

 

8:20 이렇게 말하는 자들은 결코 동트는 것을 못 볼 것이다!

( To the law and to the testimony! If they do not speak according to this word, they have no light of dawn.)

 

8:21 그들은 괴로움과 굶주림으로 이 땅을 헤맬 것이다 굶주리고 분노한 나머지, 위를 쳐다보며 왕과 신들을 저주할 것이다

( Distressed and hungry, they will roam through the land; when they are famished, they will become enraged and, looking upward, will curse their king and their God.)

 

8:22 그런 다음에 땅을 내려다 보겠지만, 보이는 것은 다만 고통과 흑암, 무서운 절망뿐일 것이니, 마침내 그들은 짙은 흑암 속에 떨어져서, 빠져 나오지 못할 것이다

( Then they will look toward the earth and see only distress and darkness and fearful gloom, and they will be thrust into utter darkness.)
