이사야 21장

 

21:1 이것은 해변 광야를 두고 하신 엄한 경고의 말씀이다 남쪽 광야에서 불어오는 회오리바람처럼 침략자가 광야에서 쳐들어온다 저 무서운 땅에서 몰아쳐 온다

( An oracle concerning the Desert by the Sea: Like whirlwinds sweeping through the southland, an invader comes from the desert, from a land of terror.)

 

21:2 나는 끔찍한 계시를 보았다 배신하는 자가 배신하고 파괴하는 자가 파괴한다! 엘람아, 공격하여라! 메대야, 에워싸거라! "내가 바빌론의 횡포를 그치게 하고 억압받는 사람들의 탄식소리를 그치게 하겠다"

( A dire vision has been shown to me: The traitor betrays, the looter takes loot. Elam, attack! Media, lay siege! I will bring to an end all the groaning she caused.)

 

21:3 그러자 나는, 허리가 끊어지는 것처럼 아팠다 아기를 낳는 산모의 고통이 이런 것일까? 온 몸이 견딜 수 없이 아팠다 그 말씀을 듣고 귀가 멀었으며, 그 광경을 보고 눈이 멀었다

( At this my body is racked with pain, pangs seize me, like those of a woman in labor; I am staggered by what I hear, I am bewildered by what I see.)

 

21:4 나의 마음은 갈피를 잡지 못하고, 공포에 질려 떨었다 내가 그처럼 보고 싶어한 희망찬 새벽빛은, 도리어 나를 무서워 떨게 하였다

( My heart falters, fear makes me tremble; the twilight I longed for has become a horror to me.)

 

21:5 내가 보니, 사람들이 잔칫상을 차려 놓고, 방석을 깔고 앉아서, 먹고 마신다 갑자기 누가 명령한다 "너희 지휘관들아, 일어나거라 방패를 들어라"

( They set the tables, they spread the rugs, they eat, they drink! Get up, you officers, oil the shields!)

 

21:6 주님께서 나에게 이렇게 말씀하셨다 "너는 가서 파수꾼을 세우고 그가 보는 대로 보고하라고 하여라

( This is what the Lord says to me: "Go, post a lookout and have him report what he sees.)

 

21:7 기마병과 함께 오는 병거를 보거나, 나귀나 낙타를 탄 사람이 나타나면, 주의하여 살펴보라고 하여라"

( When he sees chariots with teams of horses, riders on donkeys or riders on camels, let him be alert, fully alert.")

 

21:8 파수꾼이 외친다 "지휘관님, 제가 온종일 망대 위에 서 있었습니다 밤새 경계 구역을 계속 지키고 있었습니다"

( And the lookout shouted, "Day after day, my lord, I stand on the watchtower; every night I stay at my post.)

 

21:9 그런데, 갑자기 병거가 몰려오고, 기마병이 무리를 지어 온다 누가 소리친다 "바빌론이 함락되었다! 바빌론이 함락되었다! 조각한 신상들이 모두 땅에 떨어져서 박살났다!"

( Look, here comes a man in a chariot with a team of horses. And he gives back the answer: 'Babylon has fallen, has fallen! All the images of its gods lie shattered on the ground!'")

 

21:10 아, 짓밟히던 나의 겨레여, 타작 마당에서 으깨지던 나의 동포여, 이스라엘의 하나님 만군의 주님께서 나에게 말씀하신 것을, 이렇게 내가 그대들에게 전한다

( O my people, crushed on the threshing floor, I tell you what I have heard from the LORD Almighty, from the God of Israel.)

 

21:11 이것은 두마를 두고 하신 엄한 경고의 말씀이다 세일에서 누가 나를 부른다 "파수꾼아, 밤이 얼마나 지났느냐? 파수꾼아, 날이 새려면 얼마나 더 남았느냐?"

( An oracle concerning Dumah: Someone calls to me from Seir, "Watchman, what is left of the night? Watchman, what is left of the night?")

 

21:12 파수꾼이 대답한다 "아침이 곧 온다 그러나 또다시 밤이 온다 묻고 싶거든, 물어 보아라 다시 와서 물어 보아라"

( The watchman replies, "Morning is coming, but also the night. If you would ask, then ask; and come back yet again.")

 

21:13 이것은 아라비아를 두고 하신 엄한 경고의 말씀이다 드단 사람들아, 아라비아의 메마른 덤불 속에서 밤을 지새우는 드단의 행상들아,

( An oracle concerning Arabia: You caravans of Dedanites, who camp in the thickets of Arabia,)

 

21:14 목마른 피난민들에게 마실 물을 주어라 데마 땅에 사는 사람들아, 아라비아의 피난민들에게 먹거리를 가져다 주어라

( bring water for the thirsty; you who live in Tema, bring food for the fugitives.)

 

21:15 그들은 칼을 피하여 도망다니는 사람들이다 칼이 그들을 치려 하고, 화살이 그들을 꿰뚫으려 하고, 전쟁이 그들의 목숨을 노리므로, 도망다니는 신세가 되었다

( They flee from the sword, from the drawn sword, from the bent bow and from the heat of battle.)

 

21:16 주님께서 나에게 이렇게 말씀하셨다 "일 년 기한으로 머슴살이를 하게 된 머슴이 날 수를 세듯이, 이제 내가 일 년을 센다 일 년 만에 게달의 모든 허세가 사라질 것이다

( This is what the Lord says to me: "Within one year, as a servant bound by contract would count it, all the pomp of Kedar will come to an end.)

 

21:17 게달의 자손 가운데서 활 쏘는 용사들이 얼마 남는다고 하여도, 그 수는 매우 적을 것이다" 주 이스라엘의 하나님께서 이렇게 말씀하셨다

( The survivors of the bowmen, the warriors of Kedar, will be few." The LORD, the God of Israel, has spoken.)

이사야 22장

 

22:1 이것은 '환상 골짜기'를 두고 하신 엄한 경고의 말씀이다 너희가 무슨 변을 당하였기에, 모두 지붕에 올라가 있느냐?

( An oracle concerning the Valley of Vision: What troubles you now, that you have all gone up on the roofs,)

 

22:2 폭동으로 가득 찬 성읍, 시끄러움과 소동으로 가득 찬 도성아, 이번 전쟁에 죽은 사람들은 칼을 맞아 죽은 것도 아니고, 싸우다가 죽은 것도 아니다

( O town full of commotion, O city of tumult and revelry? Your slain were not killed by the sword, nor did they die in battle.)

 

22:3 너희 지도자들은 다 도망 치기에 바빴고, 활도 한 번 쏘아 보지 못하고 사로잡혔다 사로잡힌 너희들도, 아직 적군이 멀리 있는데도, 지레 겁을 먹고 도망 가다가 붙잡혀서 포로가 되었다

( All your leaders have fled together; they have been captured without using the bow. All you who were caught were taken prisoner together, having fled while the enemy was still far away.)

 

22:4 그러므로 내가 통곡한다 다들 비켜라! 혼자서 통곡할 터이니, 나를 내버려 두어라! 내 딸 내 백성이 망하였다고, 나를 위로하려고 애쓰지 말아라

( Therefore I said, "Turn away from me; let me weep bitterly. Do not try to console me over the destruction of my people.")

 

22:5 주 만군의 하나님께서 친히 '환상 골짜기'에, 혼란과 학대와 소란을 일으키시는 날을 이르게 하셨다 성벽이 헐리고, 살려 달라고 아우성 치는 소리가 산에까지 사무쳤다

( The Lord, the LORD Almighty, has a day of tumult and trampling and terror in the Valley of Vision, a day of battering down walls and of crying out to the mountains.)

 

22:6 엘람 군대는 화살통을 메고 왔고, 기마대와 병거대가 그들과 함께 왔으며, 기르 군대는 방패를 들고 왔다

( Elam takes up the quiver, with her charioteers and horses; Kir uncovers the shield.)

 

22:7 너의 기름진 골짜기들은 병거부대의 주둔지가 되었고, 예루살렘 성문 앞 광장은 기마부대의 주둔지가 되었다

( Your choicest valleys are full of chariots, and horsemen are posted at the city gates;)

 

22:8 유다의 방어선이 뚫렸다 그 때에, 너희는 '수풀 궁'에 있는 무기를 꺼내어 오고,

( the defenses of Judah are stripped away. And you looked in that day to the weapons in the Palace of the Forest;)

 

22:9 다윗 성'에 뚫린 곳이 많은 것을 보았고, '아랫못'에는 물을 저장하였다

( you saw that the City of David had many breaches in its defenses; you stored up water in the Lower Pool.)

 

22:10 예루살렘에 있는 집의 수를 세어 보고는, 더러는 허물어다가, 뚫린 성벽을 막았다

( You counted the buildings in Jerusalem and tore down houses to strengthen the wall.)

 

22:11 또한 '옛 못'에 물을 대려고 두 성벽 사이에 저수지를 만들기도 하였다 그러나 너희는 일이 이렇게 되도록 하신 분을 의지하지 않고, 이 일을 옛적부터 계획하신 분에게는 관심도 없었다

( You built a reservoir between the two walls for the water of the Old Pool, but you did not look to the One who made it, or have regard for the One who planned it long ago.)

 

22:12 그 날에, 주 만군의 하나님께서 너희에게 통곡하고 슬피 울라고 하셨다 머리털을 밀고, 상복을 몸에 두르라고 하셨다

( The Lord, the LORD Almighty, called you on that day to weep and to wail, to tear out your hair and put on sackcloth.)

 

22:13 그런데 너희가 어떻게 하였느냐? 너희는 오히려 흥청망청 소를 잡고 양을 잡고, 고기를 먹고 포도주를 마시며 "내일 죽을 것이니, 오늘은 먹고 마시자" 하였다

( But see, there is joy and revelry, slaughtering of cattle and killing of sheep, eating of meat and drinking of wine! "Let us eat and drink," you say, "for tomorrow we die!")

 

22:14 그래서 만군의 주님께서 나의 귀에 대고 말씀하셨다 "이 죄는 너희가 죽기까지 용서받지 못한다" 주 만군의 하나님께서 이렇게 말씀하셨다

( The LORD Almighty has revealed this in my hearing: "Till your dying day this sin will not be atoned for," says the Lord, the LORD Almighty.)

 

22:15 주 만군의 하나님께서 이렇게 말씀하신다 "너는 궁중의 일을 책임진 총책임자 셉나에게 가서, 나의 말을 전하여라

( This is what the Lord, the LORD Almighty, says: "Go, say to this steward, to Shebna, who is in charge of the palace:)

 

22:16 네가 이 곳과 무슨 상관이 있기에, 이 곳에 누가 있기에, 여기에다 너의 무덤을 팠느냐?'" 높은 곳에 무덤을 파는 자야, 바위에 누울 자리를 쪼아 내는 자야!

( What are you doing here and who gave you permission to cut out a grave for yourself here, hewing your grave on the height and chiseling your resting place in the rock?)

 

22:17 그렇다! 너는 권세가 있는 자다 그러나 주님께서 너를 단단히 묶어서 너를 세차게 내던지신다

( "Beware, the LORD is about to take firm hold of you and hurl you away, O you mighty man.)

 

22:18 너를 공처럼 둥글게 말아서, 넓고 아득한 땅으로 굴려 버리신다 네가 거기에서 죽을 것이다 네가 자랑하던 그 화려한 병거들 옆에서 네가 죽을 것이다 그리하여 너는 너의 상전의 집에 수치거리가 될 것이다

( He will roll you up tightly like a ball and throw you into a large country. There you will die and there your splendid chariots will remain--you disgrace to your master's house!)

 

22:19 내가 너를 너의 관직에서 쫓아내겠다 그가 너를 그 높은 자리에서 끌어내릴 것이다

( I will depose you from your office, and you will be ousted from your position.)

 

22:20 그 날이 오면, 내가 힐기야의 아들인 나의 종 엘리야김을 불러서,

( "In that day I will summon my servant, Eliakim son of Hilkiah.)

 

22:21 너의 관복을 그에게 입히고, 너의 띠를 그에게 띠게 하고, 너의 권력을 그의 손에 맡길 것이니, 그가 예루살렘에 사는 사람들과 유다 집안의 아버지가 될 것이다

( I will clothe him with your robe and fasten your sash around him and hand your authority over to him. He will be a father to those who live in Jerusalem and to the house of Judah.)

 

22:22 내가 또 다윗 집의 열쇠를 그의 어깨에 둘 것이니, 그가 열면 닫을 자가 없고, 그가 닫으면 열 자가 없을 것이다

( I will place on his shoulder the key to the house of David; what he opens no one can shut, and what he shuts no one can open.)

 

22:23 단단한 곳에 잘 박힌 못같이, 내가 그를 견고하게 하겠으니, 그가 가문의 영예를 빛낼 것이다

( I will drive him like a peg into a firm place; he will be a seat of honor for the house of his father.)

 

22:24 그의 가문의 영광이 그에게 걸릴 것이다 종지에서 항아리에 이르기까지, 모든 작은 그릇들과 같은 그 자손과 족속의 영광이, 모두 그에게 걸릴 것이다

( All the glory of his family will hang on him: its offspring and offshoots--all its lesser vessels, from the bowls to all the jars.)

 

22:25 만군의 주님의 말씀이다 "그 날이 오면, 단단한 곳에 잘 박힌 못이 삭아서 부러져 떨어질 것이니, 그 위에 걸어 둔 것들이 산산조각이 날 것이다" 이것은 주님께서 하신 말씀이다

( "In that day," declares the LORD Almighty, "the peg driven into the firm place will give way; it will be sheared off and will fall, and the load hanging on it will be cut down." The LORD has spoken.)

 

23:1 이것은 두로를 두고 하신 엄한 경고의 말씀이다 다시스의 배들아, 너희는 슬피 울어라 두로가 파멸되었으니, 들어갈 집도 없고, 닻을 내릴 항구도 없다 키프로스에서 너희가 이 소식을 들었다

( An oracle concerning Tyre: Wail, O ships of Tarshish! For Tyre is destroyed and left without house or harbor. From the land of Cyprus word has come to them.)

 

23:2 항해자들이 부유하게 만들어 준 너희 섬 백성들아, 시돈의 상인들아, 잠잠하여라!

( Be silent, you people of the island and you merchants of Sidon, whom the seafarers have enriched.)

 

23:3 시홀의 곡식 곧 나일의 수확을 배로 실어 들였으니, 두로는 곧 뭇 나라의 시장이 되었다

( On the great waters came the grain of the Shihor; the harvest of the Nile was the revenue of Tyre, and she became the marketplace of the nations.)

 

23:4 그러나 너 시돈아, 너 바다의 요새야, 네가 수치를 당하였다 너의 어머니인 바다가 너를 버리고 이렇게 말한다 "나는 산고를 겪지도 않았고, 아이를 낳지도 못하였다 아들들을 기른 일도 없고, 딸들을 키운 일도 없다"

( Be ashamed, O Sidon, and you, O fortress of the sea, for the sea has spoken: "I have neither been in labor nor given birth; I have neither reared sons nor brought up daughters.")

 

23:5 두로가 파멸되었다는 소식이 이집트에 전해지면, 이집트마저도 충격을 받고 낙심할 것이다

( When word comes to Egypt, they will be in anguish at the report from Tyre.)

 

23:6 베니게의 주민아, 스페인으로 건너가거라 섬나라 백성아, 슬피 울어라

( Cross over to Tarshish; wail, you people of the island.)

 

23:7 이것이 너희가 그렇게 좋아하던 도성 두로냐? 그토록 오랜 역사를 가지고 저 먼 곳에까지 가서 식민지를 세우던 도성이냐?

( Is this your city of revelry, the old, old city, whose feet have taken her to settle in far-off lands?)

 

23:8 빛나는 왕관을 쓰고 있던 두로, 그 상인들은 귀족들이요, 그 무역상들은 세상이 우러러보던 사람들이었는데, 두로를 두고 누가 이런 일을 계획하였겠느냐?

( Who planned this against Tyre, the bestower of crowns, whose merchants are princes, whose traders are renowned in the earth?)

 

23:9 그 일을 계획하신 분은 만군의 주님이시다 온갖 영화를 누리며 으스대던 교만한 자들을 비천하게 만드시고, 이 세상에서 유명하다는 자들을 보잘 것 없이 만드시려고, 이런 계획을 세우셨다

( The LORD Almighty planned it, to bring low the pride of all glory and to humble all who are renowned on the earth.)

 

23:10 스페인의 딸아, 너의 땅으로 돌아가서 땅이나 갈아라 이제 너에게는 항구가 없다

( Till your land as along the Nile, O Daughter of Tarshish, for you no longer have a harbor.)

 

23:11 주님께서 바다 위에 팔을 펴셔서, 왕국들을 뒤흔드시고, 베니게의 요새들을 허물라고 명하셨다

( The LORD has stretched out his hand over the sea and made its kingdoms tremble. He has given an order concerning Phoenicia that her fortresses be destroyed.)

 

23:12 그래서 주님께서 이렇게 말씀하셨다 "처녀, 딸 시돈아, 너는 망했다 네가 다시는 우쭐대지 못할 것이다 일어나서 키프로스로 건너가 보아라 그러나 거기에서도 네가 평안하지 못할 것이다"

( He said, "No more of your reveling, O Virgin Daughter of Sidon, now crushed! "Up, cross over to Cyprus; even there you will find no rest.")

 

23:13 （바빌로니아 사람의 땅을 보아라 백성이 없어졌다 앗시리아 사람이 그 곳을 들짐승이 사는 곳으로 만들었다 그들이 도성 바깥에 흙 언덕을 쌓고, 성을 공격하여, 궁전을 헐어 황폐하게 하였다）

( Look at the land of the Babylonians, this people that is now of no account! The Assyrians have made it a place for desert creatures; they raised up their siege towers, they stripped its fortresses bare and turned it into a ruin.)

 

23:14 다시스의 배들아, 너희는 슬피 울어라 너희의 요새가 파괴되었다

( Wail, you ships of Tarshish; your fortress is destroyed!)

 

23:15 그 날이 오면, 한 왕의 수명과 같은 칠십 년 동안 두로가 잊혀지겠으나, 칠십 년이 지난 뒤에는, 두로가 창녀의 노래에 나오는 주인공처럼 될 것이다

( At that time Tyre will be forgotten for seventy years, the span of a king's life. But at the end of these seventy years, it will happen to Tyre as in the song of the prostitute:)

 

23:16 망각 속으로 사라졌던 너 가련한 창녀야, 수금을 들고 성읍을 두루 다니며, 감미롭게 수금을 타고 노래나 실컷 불러라 남자들마다 네 노랫소리를 듣고, 다시 너를 기억하여 모여들게 하여라

( "Take up a harp, walk through the city, O prostitute forgotten; play the harp well, sing many a song, so that you will be remembered.")

 

23:17 칠십 년이 지나가면, 주님께서 두로를 돌보아 주셔서 옛날처럼 다시 해상무역을 하게 하실 것이다 그 때에 두로는 다시 제 몸을 팔아서, 땅 위에 있는 세상의 모든 나라의 돈을 끌어들일 것이다

( At the end of seventy years, the LORD will deal with Tyre. She will return to her hire as a prostitute and will ply her trade with all the kingdoms on the face of the earth.)

 

23:18 그러나 두로가 장사를 해서 벌어들인 소득은 주님의 몫이 될 것이다 두로가 제 몫으로 간직하거나 쌓아 두지 못할 것이다 주님을 섬기며 사는 사람들이, 두로가 벌어 놓은 것으로, 배불리 먹을 양식과 좋은 옷감을 살 것이다

( Yet her profit and her earnings will be set apart for the LORD; they will not be stored up or hoarded. Her profits will go to those who live before the LORD, for abundant food and fine clothes.)
