이사야28-30: 유다를 향한 경고

이사야 28장

 

28:1 술 취한 자, 에브라임의 교만한 면류관인 너 사마리아야, 너에게 재앙이 닥칠 것이다 술에 빠진 주정꾼의 도성, 기름진 평야의 높은 언덕에, 화려한 왕관처럼 우뚝 솟은 사마리아야, 시들어 가는 꽃 같은 너에게 재앙이 닥칠 것이다

( Woe to that wreath, the pride of Ephraim's drunkards, to the fading flower, his glorious beauty, set on the head of a fertile valley--to that city, the pride of those laid low by wine!)

 

28:2 주님께서 강하고 힘 있는 이를 보내신다 그가 마치 쏟아지는 우박처럼, 파괴하는 광풍처럼, 거센 물결을 일으키는 폭풍우처럼, 너를 잡아 땅에 쓰러뜨리실 것이다

( See, the Lord has one who is powerful and strong. Like a hailstorm and a destructive wind, like a driving rain and a flooding downpour, he will throw it forcefully to the ground.)

 

28:3 술 취한 자, 에브라임의 교만한 면류관인 너 사마리아야, 네가 짓밟힐 것이다

( That wreath, the pride of Ephraim's drunkards, will be trampled underfoot.)

 

28:4 기름진 평야의 제일 윗자리에 화려하게 피어 있는 꽃과 같은 사마리아야, 시들어 가는 꽃과 같은 사마리아야, 너는 여름이 오기 전에 맨 먼저 익은 무화과와 같아서, 사람들이 너를 보자마자 얼른 따먹는구나

( That fading flower, his glorious beauty, set on the head of a fertile valley, will be like a fig ripe before harvest--as soon as someone sees it and takes it in his hand, he swallows it.)

 

28:5 그 날이 오면, 만군의 주님께서 친히 주님의 남은 백성에게 아름다운 면류관이 되시며, 영화로운 왕관이 되실 것이다

( In that day the LORD Almighty will be a glorious crown, a beautiful wreath for the remnant of his people.)

 

28:6 주님께서는 재판관이 된 사람들에게 공평의 영을 주시고, 용사들에게는 성읍 문으로 쳐들어온 적을 막는 용기를 주실 것이다

( He will be a spirit of justice to him who sits in judgment, a source of strength to those who turn back the battle at the gate.)

 

28:7 유다 사람이 포도주에 취하여 비틀거리고, 독한 술에 취하여 휘청거린다 제사장과 예언자가 독한 술에 취하여 비틀거리고, 포도주 항아리에 빠졌다 독한 술에 취하여 휘청거리니, 환상을 제대로 못 보며, 판결을 올바로 하지 못한다

( And these also stagger from wine and reel from beer: Priests and prophets stagger from beer and are befuddled with wine; they reel from beer, they stagger when seeing visions, they stumble when rendering decisions.)

 

28:8 술상마다 토한 것이 가득하여, 더럽지 않은 곳이 없다

( All the tables are covered with vomit and there is not a spot without filth.)

 

28:9 제사장들이 나에게 빈정거린다 "저 자가 누구를 가르친다는 건가? 저 자의 말을 들어야 할 사람이 누구란 말인가? 젖뗀 아이들이나 가르치라고 하여라 젖을 먹지 않는 어린 아이들이나 가르치라고 하여라

( "Who is it he is trying to teach? To whom is he explaining his message? To children weaned from their milk, to those just taken from the breast?)

 

28:10 저 자는 우리에게, 한 자 한 자, 한 절 한 절, 한 장 한 장 가르치려고 한다"

( For it is: Do and do, do and do, rule on rule, rule on rule; a little here, a little there.")

 

28:11 그러므로 주님께서는 알아듣지 못할 말씨와 다른 나라 말로 이 백성을 가르치실 것이다

( Very well then, with foreign lips and strange tongues God will speak to this people,)

 

28:12 주님께서 전에 백성에게 말씀하셨다 "이 곳은 평안히 쉴 곳이다 고달픈 사람들은 편히 쉬어라 이 곳은 평안히 쉴 곳이다" 그러나 그들은 들으려 하지 않았다

( to whom he said, "This is the resting place, let the weary rest"; and, "This is the place of repose"--but they would not listen.)

 

28:13 그래서 주님께서는 그들에게 말씀하신다 "차브 라차브, 차브 라차브, 카브 라카브, 카브 라카브, 제에르 샴, 제에르 샴" 그래서 그들이 가다가 뒤로 넘어져서 다치게 하시고, 덫에 걸려서 잡히게 하려 하신 것이다

( So then, the word of the LORD to them will become: Do and do, do and do, rule on rule, rule on rule; a little here, a little there--so that they will go and fall backward, be injured and snared and captured.)

 

28:14 그러므로 주님의 말씀을 들어라 너희, 조롱하기를 좋아하는 자들아, 예루살렘에 사는 이 백성을 다스리는 지도자들아,

( Therefore hear the word of the LORD, you scoffers who rule this people in Jerusalem.)

 

28:15 너희는 자랑하기를 "우리는 죽음과 언약을 맺었고 스올과 협약을 맺었다 거짓말을 하여 위기를 모면할 수도 있고, 속임수를 써서 몸을 감출 수도 있으니, 재난이 닥쳐와도 우리에게는 절대로 미치지 않는다"

( You boast, "We have entered into a covenant with death, with the grave we have made an agreement. When an overwhelming scourge sweeps by, it cannot touch us, for we have made a lie our refuge and falsehood our hiding place.")

 

28:16 그러므로 주 하나님께서 이렇게 말씀하신다 "내가 시온에 주춧돌을 놓는다 얼마나 견고한지 시험하여 본 돌이다 이 귀한 돌을 모퉁이에 놓아서, 기초를 튼튼히 세울 것이니, 이것을 의지하는 사람은 불안하지 않을 것이다

( So this is what the Sovereign LORD says: "See, I lay a stone in Zion, a tested stone, a precious cornerstone for a sure foundation; the one who trusts will never be dismayed.)

 

28:17 내가 공평으로 줄자를 삼고, 공의로 저울을 삼을 것이니, 거짓말로 위기를 모면한 사람은 우박이 휩쓸어 가고, 속임수로 몸을 감춘 사람은 물에 떠내려 갈 것이다

( I will make justice the measuring line and righteousness the plumb line; hail will sweep away your refuge, the lie, and water will overflow your hiding place.)

 

28:18 그래서 죽음과 맺은 너희의 언약은 깨지고, 스올과 맺은 너희의 협약은 파기될 것이다 재앙이 닥쳐올 때에, 너희가 그것을 피하지 못하고, 꼼짝없이 당하고 말 것이다

( Your covenant with death will be annulled; your agreement with the grave will not stand. When the overwhelming scourge sweeps by, you will be beaten down by it.)

 

28:19 재난이 유행병처럼 퍼질 때에, 너희가 피하지 못할 것이다 그 재난이 아침마다 너희를 치고, 밤낮을 가리지 않고 너희를 엄습할 것이다" 이 말씀을 알아듣는 것이 오히려 두려움이 될 것이다

( As often as it comes it will carry you away; morning after morning, by day and by night, it will sweep through." The understanding of this message will bring sheer terror.)

 

28:20 너희는 마치 침대가 짧아서 다리를 펴지 못하는 것 같이 되고, 이불이 작아서 몸을 덮지 못하는 것 같이 될 것이다

( The bed is too short to stretch out on, the blanket too narrow to wrap around you.)

 

28:21 주님께서는 계획하신 일, 그 신기한 일을 하시려고, 브라심 산에서 싸우신 것처럼 싸우실 것이다 작정하신 일, 그 신비한 일을 하시려고, 기브온 골짜기에서 진노하신 것처럼 진노하실 것이다

( The LORD will rise up as he did at Mount Perazim, he will rouse himself as in the Valley of Gibeon--to do his work, his strange work, and perform his task, his alien task.)

 

28:22 그러니 너희는, 내가 경고할 때에 비웃지 말아라 그렇게 하다가는 더욱더 궁지에 몰리고 말 것이다 만군의 주님께서 온 세상을 멸하시기로 결정하셨다는 말씀을, 내가 들었다

( Now stop your mocking, or your chains will become heavier; the Lord, the LORD Almighty, has told me of the destruction decreed against the whole land.)

 

28:23 너희는 귀를 기울여서, 나의 목소리를 들어라 주의 깊게 내가 하는 말을 들어라

( Listen and hear my voice; pay attention and hear what I say.)

 

28:24 씨를 뿌리려고 밭을 가는 농부가, 날마다 밭만 갈고 있겠느냐? 흙을 뒤집고 써레질만 하겠느냐?

( When a farmer plows for planting, does he plow continually? Does he keep on breaking up and harrowing the soil?)

 

28:25 밭을 고르고 나면, 소회향 씨를 뿌리거나 대회향 씨를 뿌리지 않겠느냐? 밀을 줄줄이 심고, 적당한 자리에 보리를 심지 않겠느냐? 밭 가장자리에는 귀리도 심지 않겠느냐?

( When he has leveled the surface, does he not sow caraway and scatter cummin? Does he not plant wheat in its place, barley in its plot, and spelt in its field?)

 

28:26 농부에게 밭농사를 이렇게 짓도록 일러주시고 가르쳐 주신 분은, 바로 하나님이시다

( His God instructs him and teaches him the right way.)

 

28:27 소회향을 도리깨로 쳐서 떨지 않는다 대회향 위로는 수레바퀴를 굴리지 않는다 소회향은 작대기로 가볍게 두드려서 떨고, 대회향도 막대기로 가볍게 두드려서 떤다

( Caraway is not threshed with a sledge, nor is a cartwheel rolled over cummin; caraway is beaten out with a rod, and cummin with a stick.)

 

28:28 사람이 곡식을 떨지만, 낟알이 바스러지도록 떨지는 않는다 수레바퀴를 곡식 위에 굴릴 때에도, 말발굽이 그것을 으깨지는 않는다

( Grain must be ground to make bread; so one does not go on threshing it forever. Though he drives the wheels of his threshing cart over it, his horses do not grind it.)

 

28:29 이것도 만군의 주님께서 가르쳐 주신 것이다 주님의 모략은 기묘하며, 지혜는 끝없이 넓다

( All this also comes from the LORD Almighty, wonderful in counsel and magnificent in wisdom.)

이사야 29장

 

29:1 너에게 재앙이 닥칠 것이다 아리엘아, 아리엘아, 다윗이 진을 쳤던 성읍아, "해마다 절기들은 돌아오련만,

( Woe to you, Ariel, Ariel, the city where David settled! Add year to year and let your cycle of festivals go on.)

 

29:2 내가 너 아리엘을 포위하고 치겠다 '나의 번제단'이라고 불리던 너를 칠 터이니, 네가 슬퍼하고 통곡할 것이다

( Yet I will besiege Ariel; she will mourn and lament, she will be to me like an altar hearth.)

 

29:3 내가 너의 사면을 둘러 진을 치며, 너를 삥 둘러서 탑들을 세우고, 흙더미를 쌓아 올려 너의 성을 치겠다"

( I will encamp against you all around; I will encircle you with towers and set up my siege works against you.)

 

29:4 그 때에 너는 낮아져서 땅바닥에서 말할 것이며, 너의 말소리는 네가 쓰러진 먼지바닥에서 나는 개미 소리와 같을 것이다 너의 목소리는 땅에서 나는 유령의 소리와 같을 것이며, 너의 말은 먼지 바닥 속에서 나는 중얼거리는 소리와 같을 것이다

( Brought low, you will speak from the ground; your speech will mumble out of the dust. Your voice will come ghostlike from the earth; out of the dust your speech will whisper.)

 

29:5 그러나 너를 친 원수의 무리는 가는 먼지처럼 되어 날아가며, 그 잔인한 무리는 겨처럼 흩날릴 것이다 갑자기, 예기치 못한 순간에

( But your many enemies will become like fine dust, the ruthless hordes like blown chaff. Suddenly, in an instant,)

 

29:6 만군의 주님께서 너를 찾아오시되, 우레와 지진과 큰 소리를 일으키시며, 회오리바람과 폭풍과 태워 버리는 불길로 찾아오실 것이다

( the LORD Almighty will come with thunder and earthquake and great noise, with windstorm and tempest and flames of a devouring fire.)

 

29:7 아리엘을 치는 모든 나라의 무리와 그의 요새들을 공격하여 그를 괴롭히는 자들 모두가, 마치 꿈을 꾸는 것처럼, 밤의 환상을 보는 것처럼, 헛수고를 할 것이다

( Then the hordes of all the nations that fight against Ariel, that attack her and her fortress and besiege her, will be as it is with a dream, with a vision in the night--)

 

29:8 마치 굶주린 자가 꿈에 먹기는 하나, 깨어나면 더욱 허기를 느끼듯이, 목마른 자가 꿈에 마시기는 하나, 깨어나면 더욱 지쳐서 갈증을 느끼듯이, 시온 산을 치는 모든 나라의 무리가 그러할 것이다

( as when a hungry man dreams that he is eating, but he awakens, and his hunger remains; as when a thirsty man dreams that he is drinking, but he awakens faint, with his thirst unquenched. So will it be with the hordes of all the nations that fight against Mount Zion.)

 

29:9 너희는 놀라서, 기절할 것이다 너희는 눈이 멀어서, 앞을 못 보는 사람이 될 것이다 포도주 한 모금도 마시지 않았는데, 취할 것이다 독한 술 한 방울도 마시지 않았는데, 비틀거릴 것이다

( Be stunned and amazed, blind yourselves and be sightless; be drunk, but not from wine, stagger, but not from beer.)

 

29:10 주님께서는 너희에게 잠드는 영을 보내셔서, 너희를 깊은 잠에 빠지게 하셨다 너희의 예언자로 너희의 눈 구실을 못하게 하셨으니, 너희의 눈을 멀게 하신 것이요, 너희의 선견자로 앞을 내다보지 못하게 하셨으니, 너희의 얼굴을 가려서 눈을 못 보게 하신 것이다

( The LORD has brought over you a deep sleep: He has sealed your eyes (the prophets); he has covered your heads (the seers).)

 

29:11 이 모든 묵시가 너희에게는 마치 밀봉된 두루마리의 글처럼 될 것이다 너희가 그 두루마리를 유식한 사람에게 가지고 가서 "이것을 좀 읽어 주시오" 하고 내주면, 그는 "두루마리가 밀봉되어 있어서 못 읽겠소" 하고 말할 것이다

( For you this whole vision is nothing but words sealed in a scroll. And if you give the scroll to someone who can read, and say to him, "Read this, please," he will answer, "I can't; it is sealed.")

 

29:12 너희가 그 두루마리를 무식한 사람에게 가지고 가서 "이것을 좀 읽어 주시오" 하면, 그는 "나는 글을 읽을 줄 모릅니다" 하고 말할 것이다

( Or if you give the scroll to someone who cannot read, and say, "Read this, please," he will answer, "I don't know how to read.")

 

29:13 주님께서 말씀하신다 "이 백성이 입으로는 나를 가까이하고, 입술로는 나를 영화롭게 하지만, 그 마음으로는 나를 멀리하고 있다 그들이 나를 경외한다는 말은, 다만, 들은 말을 흉내내는 것일 뿐이다

( The Lord says: "These people come near to me with their mouth and honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. Their worship of me is made up only of rules taught by men.)

 

29:14 그러므로 내가 다시 한 번 놀랍고 기이한 일로 이 백성을 놀라게 할 것이다" 지혜로운 사람들에게서 지혜가 없어지고, 총명한 사람들에게서 총명이 사라질 것이다

( Therefore once more I will astound these people with wonder upon wonder; the wisdom of the wise will perish, the intelligence of the intelligent will vanish.")

 

29:15 주님 몰래 음모를 깊이 숨기려는 자들에게 재앙이 닥칠 것이다 그들은 어두운 곳에서 남 몰래 음모를 꾸미는 자들이다 "누가 우리를 보랴! 누가 우리를 알랴!" 한다

( Woe to those who go to great depths to hide their plans from the LORD, who do their work in darkness and think, "Who sees us? Who will know?")

 

29:16 그들은 매사를 거꾸로 뒤집어 생각한다 진흙으로 옹기를 만드는 사람과 옹기장이가 주무르는 진흙을 어찌 같이 생각할 수 있느냐? 만들어진 물건이 자기를 만든 사람을 두고 "그가 나를 만들지 않았다" 하고 말할 수 있느냐? 빚어진 것이 자기를 빚은 사람을 두고 "그는 기술이 없어!" 하고 말할 수 있느냐?

( You turn things upside down, as if the potter were thought to be like the clay! Shall what is formed say to him who formed it, "He did not make me"? Can the pot say of the potter, "He knows nothing"?)

 

29:17 레바논의 밀림이 기름진 밭으로 변하고, 그 기름진 밭이 다시 밀림으로 변하는 것은, 시간 문제이다

( In a very short time, will not Lebanon be turned into a fertile field and the fertile field seem like a forest?)

 

29:18 그 날이 오면, 듣지 못하는 사람이 두루마리의 글을 읽는 소리를 듣고, 어둠과 흑암에 싸인 눈 먼 사람이 눈을 떠서 볼 것이다

( In that day the deaf will hear the words of the scroll, and out of gloom and darkness the eyes of the blind will see.)

 

29:19 천한 사람들이 주님 안에서 더없이 기뻐하며 사람들 가운데 가난한 사람들이 이스라엘의 거룩하신 분 안에서 즐거워할 것이다

( Once more the humble will rejoice in the LORD; the needy will rejoice in the Holy One of Israel.)

 

29:20 포악한 자는 사라질 것이다 비웃는 사람은 자취를 감출 것이다 죄 지을 기회를 엿보던 자들이 모두 끝장 날 것이다

( The ruthless will vanish, the mockers will disappear, and all who have an eye for evil will be cut down--)

 

29:21 그들은 말 한 마디로 사람에게 죄를 뒤집어씌우고, 성문에서 재판하는 사람을 올무에 걸리게 하며, 정당한 이유 없이 의로운 사람의 권리를 박탈하던 자들이다

( those who with a word make a man out to be guilty, who ensnare the defender in court and with false testimony deprive the innocent of justice.)

 

29:22 그러므로 아브라함을 구속하신 주님께서, 곧 야곱 족속의 주 하나님께서 이렇게 말씀하신다 "이제 야곱이 다시는 부끄러움을 당하지 않을 것이고, 이제 그의 얼굴이 다시는 수모 때문에 창백해지지는 않을 것이다

( Therefore this is what the LORD, who redeemed Abraham, says to the house of Jacob: "No longer will Jacob be ashamed; no longer will their faces grow pale.)

 

29:23 야곱이 자기의 자손 곧 그들 가운데서 내가 친히 만들어 준 그 자손을 볼 때, 그들은 내 이름을 거룩하게 할 것이다" '야곱의 거룩한 분'을 거룩하게 받들며, 이스라엘의 하나님을 경외할 것이다

( When they see among them their children, the work of my hands, they will keep my name holy; they will acknowledge the holiness of the Holy One of Jacob, and will stand in awe of the God of Israel.)

 

29:24 그래서 마음이 혼미하던 사람이 총명해지고, 거스르던 사람이 교훈을 받을 것이다

( Those who are wayward in spirit will gain understanding; those who complain will accept instruction.")

이사야 30장

 

30:1 주님께서 말씀하신다 "거역하는 자식들아, 너희에게 화가 닥칠 것이다 너희가 계획을 추진하지만, 그것들은 나에게서 나온 것이 아니며, 동맹을 맺지만, 나의 뜻을 따라 한 것이 아니다 죄에 죄를 더할 뿐이다

( "Woe to the obstinate children," declares the LORD, "to those who carry out plans that are not mine, forming an alliance, but not by my Spirit, heaping sin upon sin;)

 

30:2 너희가 나에게 물어 보지도 않고, 이집트로 내려가서, 바로의 보호를 받아 피신하려 하고, 이집트의 그늘에 숨으려 하는구나"

( who go down to Egypt without consulting me; who look for help to Pharaoh's protection, to Egypt's shade for refuge.)

 

30:3 바로의 보호가 오히려 너희에게 수치가 되고, 이집트의 그늘이 오히려 너희에게 치욕이 될 것이다

( But Pharaoh's protection will be to your shame, Egypt's shade will bring you disgrace.)

 

30:4 유다의 고관들이 소안으로 가고, 유다의 사신들이 하네스로 가지만,

( Though they have officials in Zoan and their envoys have arrived in Hanes,)

 

30:5 쓸모 없는 백성에게 오히려 수치만 당할 것이다 너희는 이집트에게서 아무런 도움도 유익도 얻지 못하고, 오히려 수치와 치욕만 얻을 것이다

( everyone will be put to shame because of a people useless to them, who bring neither help nor advantage, but only shame and disgrace.")

 

30:6 이것은 네겝의 들짐승들에게 내리신 경고의 말씀이다 유다의 사절단이 나귀 등에 선물을 싣고, 낙타 등에 보물을 싣고, 거친 광야를 지나서, 이집트로 간다 암사자와 수사자가 울부짖는 땅, 독사와 날아다니는 불뱀이 날뛰는 땅, 위험하고 곤고한 땅을 지나서, 아무런 도움도 주지 못할 백성에게 선물을 주려고 간다

( An oracle concerning the animals of the Negev: Through a land of hardship and distress, of lions and lionesses, of adders and darting snakes, the envoys carry their riches on donkeys' backs, their treasures on the humps of camels, to that unprofitable nation,)

 

30:7 "이집트가 너희를 도울 수 있다는 생각은 헛된 망상일 뿐이다 이집트는 '맥 못쓰는 라합'일 뿐이다"

( to Egypt, whose help is utterly useless. Therefore I call her Rahab the Do-Nothing.)

 

30:8 이제 너는 가서, 유다 백성이 어떤 백성인지를 백성 앞에 있는 서판에 새기고, 책에 기록하여서, 오고오는 날에 영원한 증거가 되게 하여라

( Go now, write it on a tablet for them, inscribe it on a scroll, that for the days to come it may be an everlasting witness.)

 

30:9 이 백성은 반역하는 백성이요, 거짓말을 하는 자손으로서, 주님의 율법은 전혀 들으려 하지 않는 자손이다

( These are rebellious people, deceitful children, children unwilling to listen to the LORD'S instruction.)

 

30:10 선견자들에게 이르기를 "미리 앞일을 내다보지 말아라!" 하며, 예언자들에게 이르기를 "우리에게 사실을 예언하지 말아라! 우리를 격려하는 말이나 하여라! 가상현실을 예언하여라!

( They say to the seers, "See no more visions!" and to the prophets, "Give us no more visions of what is right! Tell us pleasant things, prophesy illusions.)

 

30:11 그 길에서 떠나거라! 그 길에서 벗어나거라 '이스라엘의 거룩하신 분' 이야기는 우리 앞에서 제발 그쳐라" 하고 말한다

( Leave this way, get off this path, and stop confronting us with the Holy One of Israel!")

 

30:12 그러므로 '이스라엘의 거룩하신 분'께서 이렇게 말씀하신다 "너희가 이 말을 업신여기고, 억압과 사악한 일을 옳은 일로 여겨서, 그것에 의지하였으니,

( Therefore, this is what the Holy One of Israel says: "Because you have rejected this message, relied on oppression and depended on deceit,)

 

30:13 이 죄로, 너희가 붕괴될 성벽처럼 될 것이다 높은 성벽에 금이 가고, 배가, 불룩 튀어나왔으니, 순식간에 갑자기 무너져 내릴 것이다

( this sin will become for you like a high wall, cracked and bulging, that collapses suddenly, in an instant.)

 

30:14 토기장이의 항아리가 깨져서 산산조각이 나듯이, 너희가 그렇게 무너져 내릴 것이다 아궁이에서 불을 담아 낼 조각 하나 남지 않듯이, 웅덩이에서 물을 퍼낼 조각 하나 남지 않듯이, 너희가 사라질 것이다"

( It will break in pieces like pottery, shattered so mercilessly that among its pieces not a fragment will be found for taking coals from a hearth or scooping water out of a cistern.")

 

30:15 주, 이스라엘의 거룩하신 하나님께서 이렇게 말씀하신다 "너희는 회개하고 마음을 편안하게 하여야 구원을 받을 것이며, 잠잠하고 신뢰하여야 힘을 얻을 것이다 그러나 너희는 그렇게 하기를 바라지 않았다"

( This is what the Sovereign LORD, the Holy One of Israel, says: "In repentance and rest is your salvation, in quietness and trust is your strength, but you would have none of it.)

 

30:16 오히려 너희는 이렇게 말하였다 '그렇게 하지 않겠습니다 우리는 차라리 말을 타고 도망 가겠습니다' 너희가 이렇게 말하였으니, 정말로, 너희가 도망 갈 것이다 너희는 또 이렇게 말하였다 '우리는 차라리 날랜 말을 타고 달아나겠습니다' 너희가 이렇게 말하였으니, 너희를 뒤쫓는 자들이 더 날랜 말을 타고 쫓아올 것이다

( You said, 'No, we will flee on horses.' Therefore you will flee! You said, 'We will ride off on swift horses.' Therefore your pursuers will be swift!)

 

30:17 적군 한 명을 보고서도 너희가 천 명씩이나 도망 가니, 적군 다섯 명이 나타나면, 너희는 모두 도망 갈 것이다 너희가 도망 가고 나면, 산꼭대기에는 너희의 깃대만 남고, 언덕 위에서는 깃발만이 외롭게 펄럭일 것이다

( A thousand will flee at the threat of one; at the threat of five you will all flee away, till you are left like a flagstaff on a mountaintop, like a banner on a hill.")

 

30:18 그러나 주님께서는 너희에게 은혜를 베푸시려고 기다리시며, 너희를 불쌍히 여기시려고 일어나신다 참으로 주님께서는 공의의 하나님이시다 주님을 기다리는 모든 사람은 복되다

( Yet the LORD longs to be gracious to you; he rises to show you compassion. For the LORD is a God of justice. Blessed are all who wait for him!)

 

30:19 예루살렘에 사는 시온 백성아, 이제 너희는 울 일이 없을 것이다 네가 살려 달라고 부르짖을 때에, 주님께서 틀림없이 은혜를 베푸실 것이니, 들으시는 대로 너에게 응답하실 것이다

( O people of Zion, who live in Jerusalem, you will weep no more. How gracious he will be when you cry for help! As soon as he hears, he will answer you.)

 

30:20 비록 주님께서 너희에게 환난의 빵과 고난의 물을 주셔도, 다시는 너의 스승들을 숨기지 않으실 것이니, 네가 너의 스승들을 직접 뵐 것이다

( Although the Lord gives you the bread of adversity and the water of affliction, your teachers will be hidden no more; with your own eyes you will see them.)

 

30:21 네가 오른쪽이나 왼쪽으로 치우치려 하면, 너의 뒤에서 '이것이 바른길이니, 이 길로 가거라' 하는 소리가 너의 귀에 들릴 것이다

( Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, "This is the way; walk in it.")

 

30:22 그리고 너는, 네가 조각하여 은을 입힌 우상들과, 네가 부어 만들어 금을 입힌 우상들을, 부정하게 여겨, 마치 불결한 물건을 내던지듯 던지면서 '눈 앞에서 없어져라' 하고 소리 칠 것이다

( Then you will defile your idols overlaid with silver and your images covered with gold; you will throw them away like a menstrual cloth and say to them, "Away with you!")

 

30:23 네가 땅에 씨앗을 뿌려 놓으면, 주님께서 비를 내리실 것이니, 그 땅에서 실하고 기름진 곡식이 날 것이다 그 때에 너의 가축은 넓게 트인 목장에서 풀을 뜯을 것이다

( He will also send you rain for the seed you sow in the ground, and the food that comes from the land will be rich and plentiful. In that day your cattle will graze in broad meadows.)

 

30:24 밭 가는 소와 나귀도 아무것이나 먹지 않고, 키와 부삽으로 까부르고 간을 맞춘 사료를 먹을 것이다

( The oxen and donkeys that work the soil will eat fodder and mash, spread out with fork and shovel.)

 

30:25 큰 살육이 일어나고 성의 탑들이 무너지는 날에, 높은 산과 솟은 언덕마다 개울과 시냇물이 흐를 것이다

( In the day of great slaughter, when the towers fall, streams of water will flow on every high mountain and every lofty hill.)

 

30:26 주님께서 백성의 상처를 싸매어 주시고, 매 맞아 생긴 그들의 상처를 고치시는 날에, 달빛은 마치 햇빛처럼 밝아지고, 햇빛은 일곱 배나 밝아져서 마치 일곱 날을 한데 모아 놓은 것 같이 밝아질 것이다

( The moon will shine like the sun, and the sunlight will be seven times brighter, like the light of seven full days, when the LORD binds up the bruises of his people and heals the wounds he inflicted.)

 

30:27 주님의 이름 곧 그 권세와 영광이 먼 곳에서도 보인다 그의 진노가 불처럼 타오르며, 노기가 치솟는 연기처럼 하늘을 찌른다 그의 입술은 분노로 가득하고, 혀는 마치 태워 버리는 불과 같다

( See, the Name of the LORD comes from afar, with burning anger and dense clouds of smoke; his lips are full of wrath, and his tongue is a consuming fire.)

 

30:28 그의 숨은 범람하는 강물 곧 목에까지 차는 물과 같다 그가 파멸하는 키로 민족들을 까부르시며, 미혹되게 하는 재갈을 백성들의 입에 물리신다

( His breath is like a rushing torrent, rising up to the neck. He shakes the nations in the sieve of destruction; he places in the jaws of the peoples a bit that leads them astray.)

 

30:29 그러나 너희는 거룩한 절기를 지키는 밤처럼, 노래를 부르며, 피리를 불며, 주님의 산으로, 이스라엘의 반석이신 분에게로 나아가는 사람과 같이, 마음이 기쁠 것이다

( And you will sing as on the night you celebrate a holy festival; your hearts will rejoice as when people go up with flutes to the mountain of the LORD, to the Rock of Israel.)

 

30:30 주님께서 맹렬한 진노와, 태워 버리는 불과, 폭풍과 폭우와, 돌덩이 같은 우박을 내리셔서, 주님의 장엄한 음성을 듣게 하시며, 내리치시는 팔을 보게 하실 것이다

( The LORD will cause men to hear his majestic voice and will make them see his arm coming down with raging anger and consuming fire, with cloudburst, thunderstorm and hail.)

 

30:31 주님께서 몽둥이로 치실 것이니, 앗시리아는 주님의 목소리에 넋을 잃을 것이다

( The voice of the LORD will shatter Assyria; with his scepter he will strike them down.)

 

30:32 주님께서 그들을 치시려고 예비하신 그 몽둥이를 그들에게 휘두르실 때에, 주님의 백성은 소구 소리와 수금 소리로 장단을 맞출 것이니, 주님께서 친히 앗시리아 사람들과 싸우실 것이다

( Every stroke the LORD lays on them with his punishing rod will be to the music of tambourines and harps, as he fights them in battle with the blows of his arm.)

 

30:33 이미 오래 전에 '불타는 곳'을 준비하셨다 바로 앗시리아 왕을 태워 죽일 곳을 마련하셨다 그 불구덩이가 깊고 넓으며, 불과 땔감이 넉넉하다 이제 주님께서 내쉬는 숨이 마치 유황의 강물처럼 그것을 사르고 말 것이다

( Topheth has long been prepared; it has been made ready for the king. Its fire pit has been made deep and wide, with an abundance of fire and wood; the breath of the LORD, like a stream of burning sulfur, sets it ablaze.)
