이사야40-43: 전능하신 하나님

이사야 40장

 

40:1 "너희는 위로하여라! 나의 백성을 위로하여라!" 너희의 하나님께서 말씀하신다

( Comfort, comfort my people, says your God.)

 

40:2 "예루살렘 주민을 격려하고, 그들에게 일러주어라 이제 복역 기간이 끝나고, 죄에 대한 형벌도 다 받고, 지은 죄에 비하여 갑절의 벌을 주님에게서 받았다고 외쳐라"

( Speak tenderly to Jerusalem, and proclaim to her that her hard service has been completed, that her sin has been paid for, that she has received from the LORD'S hand double for all her sins.)

 

40:3 한 소리가 외친다 "광야에 주님께서 오실 길을 닦아라 사막에 우리의 하나님께서 오실 큰길을 곧게 내어라

( A voice of one calling: "In the desert prepare the way for the LORD; make straight in the wilderness a highway for our God.)

 

40:4 모든 계곡은 메우고, 산과 언덕은 깎아 내리고, 거친 길은 평탄하게 하고, 험한 곳은 평지로 만들어라

( Every valley shall be raised up, every mountain and hill made low; the rough ground shall become level, the rugged places a plain.)

 

40:5 주님의 영광이 나타날 것이니, 모든 사람이 그것을 함께 볼 것이다 이것은 주님께서 친히 약속하신 것이다"

( And the glory of the LORD will be revealed, and all mankind together will see it. For the mouth of the LORD has spoken.")

 

40:6 한 소리가 외친다 "너는 외쳐라" 그래서 내가 "무엇이라고 외쳐야 합니까?" 하고 물었다 "모든 육체는 풀이요, 그의 모든 아름다움은 들의 꽃과 같을 뿐이다

( A voice says, "Cry out." And I said, "What shall I cry?" "All men are like grass, and all their glory is like the flowers of the field.)

 

40:7 주님께서 그 위에 입김을 부시면, 풀은 마르고 꽃은 시든다 그렇다 이 백성은 풀에 지나지 않는다

( The grass withers and the flowers fall, because the breath of the LORD blows on them. Surely the people are grass.)

 

40:8 풀은 마르고 꽃은 시드나, 우리 하나님의 말씀은 영원히 서 있다"

( The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God stands forever.")

 

40:9 좋은 소식을 전하는 시온아, 어서 높은 산으로 올라가거라 아름다운 소식을 전하는 예루살렘아, 너의 목소리를 힘껏 높여라 두려워하지 말고 소리를 높여라 유다의 성읍들에게 "여기에 너희의 하나님이 계신다" 하고 말하여라

( You who bring good tidings to Zion, go up on a high mountain. You who bring good tidings to Jerusalem, lift up your voice with a shout, lift it up, do not be afraid; say to the towns of Judah, "Here is your God!")

 

40:10 만군의 주 하나님께서 오신다 그가 권세를 잡고 친히 다스리실 것이다 보아라, 그가 백성에게 주실 상급을 가지고 오신다 백성에게 주실 보상을 가지고 오신다

( See, the Sovereign LORD comes with power, and his arm rules for him. See, his reward is with him, and his recompense accompanies him.)

 

40:11 그는 목자와 같이 그의 양 떼를 먹이시며, 어린 양들을 팔로 모으시고, 품에 안으시며, 젖을 먹이는 어미 양들을 조심스럽게 이끄신다

( He tends his flock like a shepherd: He gathers the lambs in his arms and carries them close to his heart; he gently leads those that have young.)

 

40:12 누가 바닷물을 손바닥으로 떠서 헤아려 보았으며, 뼘으로 하늘을 재어 보았느냐? 누가 온 땅의 티끌을 되로 되어 보고, 산들을 어깨 저울로 달아 보고, 언덕들을 손저울로 달아 보았느냐?

( Who has measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, or with the breadth of his hand marked off the heavens? Who has held the dust of the earth in a basket, or weighed the mountains on the scales and the hills in a balance?)

 

40:13 누가 주님의 영을 헤아릴 수 있겠으며, 주님의 조언자가 되어 그를 가르칠 수 있겠느냐?

( Who has understood the mind of the LORD, or instructed him as his counselor?)

 

40:14 그가 누구와 의논하시는가? 누가 그를 깨우쳐 드리며, 공평의 도리를 가르쳐 드리는가? 누가 그에게 지식을 가르쳐 드리며, 슬기로운 처세술을 가르쳐 드리는가?

( Whom did the LORD consult to enlighten him, and who taught him the right way? Who was it that taught him knowledge or showed him the path of understanding?)

 

40:15 그에게는 뭇 나라가, 고작해야, 두레박에서 떨어지는 한 방울 물이나, 저울 위의 티끌과 같을 뿐이다 섬들도 먼지를 들어 올리듯 가볍게 들어 올리신다

( Surely the nations are like a drop in a bucket; they are regarded as dust on the scales; he weighs the islands as though they were fine dust.)

 

40:16 레바논의 삼림이 제단의 장작으로 충분하지 않고, 그 곳의 짐승들도 번제물로 드리기에 충분하지 않다

( Lebanon is not sufficient for altar fires, nor its animals enough for burnt offerings.)

 

40:17 그 앞에서는 모든 민족이 아무것도 아니며, 그에게는 사람이란 전혀 없는 것이나 다름이 없다

( Before him all the nations are as nothing; they are regarded by him as worthless and less than nothing.)

 

40:18 그렇다면, 너희가 하나님을 누구와 같다 하겠으며, 어떤 형상에 비기겠느냐?

( To whom, then, will you compare God? What image will you compare him to?)

 

40:19 우상이란 대장장이가 부어 만들고, 도금장이가 금으로 입히고, 은사슬을 만들어 걸친 것이다

( As for an idol, a craftsman casts it, and a goldsmith overlays it with gold and fashions silver chains for it.)

 

40:20 금이나 은을 구할 형편이 못되는 사람은 썩지 않는 나무를 골라서 구하여 놓고, 넘어지지 않을 우상을 만들려고 숙련된 기술자를 찾는다

( A man too poor to present such an offering selects wood that will not rot. He looks for a skilled craftsman to set up an idol that will not topple.)

 

40:21 너희가 알지 못하였느냐? 너희가 듣지 못하였느냐? 태초부터 너희가 전해 들은 것이 아니냐? 너희는 땅의 기초가 어떻게 세워졌는지 알지 못하였느냐?

( Do you not know? Have you not heard? Has it not been told you from the beginning? Have you not understood since the earth was founded?)

 

40:22 땅 위의 저 푸른 하늘에 계신 분께서 세상을 만드셨다 땅에 사는 사람들은 하나님 보시기에는 메뚜기와 같을 뿐이다 그는 하늘을, 마치 엷은 휘장처럼 펴셔서, 사람이 사는 장막처럼 쳐 놓으셨다

( He sits enthroned above the circle of the earth, and its people are like grasshoppers. He stretches out the heavens like a canopy, and spreads them out like a tent to live in.)

 

40:23 그는 통치자들을 허수아비로 만드시며, 땅의 지배자들을 쓸모 없는 사람으로 만드신다

( He brings princes to naught and reduces the rulers of this world to nothing.)

 

40:24 이 세상의 통치자들은 풀포기와 같다 심기가 무섭게, 씨를 뿌리기가 무섭게, 뿌리를 내리기가 무섭게, 하나님께서 입김을 부셔서 말려 버리시니, 마치 강풍에 날리는 검불과 같다

( No sooner are they planted, no sooner are they sown, no sooner do they take root in the ground, than he blows on them and they wither, and a whirlwind sweeps them away like chaff.)

 

40:25 거룩하신 분께서 말씀하신다 "그렇다면, 너희가 나를 누구와 견주겠으며, 나를 누구와 같다고 하겠느냐?"

( "To whom will you compare me? Or who is my equal?" says the Holy One.)

 

40:26 너희는 고개를 들어서, 저 위를 바라보아라 누가 이 모든 별을 창조하였느냐? 바로 그분께서 천체를 수효를 세어 불러내신다 그는 능력이 많으시고 힘이 세셔서, 하나하나, 이름을 불러 나오게 하시니, 하나도 빠지는 일이 없다

( Lift your eyes and look to the heavens: Who created all these? He who brings out the starry host one by one, and calls them each by name. Because of his great power and mighty strength, not one of them is missing.)

 

40:27 야곱아, 네가 어찌하여 불평하며, 이스라엘아, 네가 어찌하여 불만을 토로하느냐? 어찌하여 "주님께서는 나의 사정을 모르시고, 하나님께서는 나의 정당한 권리를 지켜 주시지 않는다" 하느냐?

( Why do you say, O Jacob, and complain, O Israel, "My way is hidden from the LORD; my cause is disregarded by my God"?)

 

40:28 너는 알지 못하였느냐? 너는 듣지 못하였느냐? 주님은 영원하신 하나님이시다 땅 끝까지 창조하신 분이시다 그는 피곤을 느끼지 않으시며, 지칠 줄을 모르시며, 그 지혜가 무궁하신 분이시다

( Do you not know? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom.)

 

40:29 피곤한 사람에게 힘을 주시며, 기운을 잃은 사람에게 기력을 주시는 분이시다

( He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.)

 

40:30 비록 젊은이들이 피곤하여 지치고, 장정들이 맥없이 비틀거려도,

( Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall;)

 

40:31 오직 주님을 소망으로 삼는 사람은 새 힘을 얻으리니, 독수리가 날개를 치며 솟아오르듯 올라갈 것이요, 뛰어도 지치지 않으며, 걸어도 피곤하지 않을 것이다

( but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.)

이사야 41장

 

41:1 "섬들아, 나의 앞에서 잠잠하여라 백성들아, 송사를 가져 오너라 가까이 와서 말하여 보아라 와서 함께 판가름하여 보자

( "Be silent before me, you islands! Let the nations renew their strength! Let them come forward and speak; let us meet together at the place of judgment.)

 

41:2 누가 동방에서 한 정복자를 일으켰느냐? 누가 그를 가는 곳마다 승리하게 하였느냐? 누가 민족들을 그에게 굴복하게 하였느냐? 누가 그를 왕들의 통치자로 만들었느냐? 그의 칼은 그들을 쳐서 티끌처럼 만들고, 그의 활은 그들을 흩어서 검불처럼 날리게 하였다

( "Who has stirred up one from the east, calling him in righteousness to his service? He hands nations over to him and subdues kings before him. He turns them to dust with his sword, to windblown chaff with his bow.)

 

41:3 그가 거침없이 질주하여 그들을 추격하니, 미처 발이 땅에 닿지도 않는다

( He pursues them and moves on unscathed, by a path his feet have not traveled before.)

 

41:4 누가 이런 일을 일어나게 하였느냐? 누가 역사의 흐름을 결정하였느냐? 태초부터 나 주가 거기에 있었고, 끝 날에도 내가 거기에 있을 것이다"

( Who has done this and carried it through, calling forth the generations from the beginning? I, the LORD--with the first of them and with the last--I am he.")

 

41:5 섬들이 주님께서 하신 일을 보고 두려워한다 저 멀리 땅 끝에 있는 나라들이 무서워서 떤다 사람들이 함께 모여서 나온다

( The islands have seen it and fear; the ends of the earth tremble. They approach and come forward;)

 

41:6 그들은 서로 손발이 맞아서, 서로 힘을 내라고 격려한다

( each helps the other and says to his brother, "Be strong!")

 

41:7 대장장이는 도금장이를 격려하고, 마치로 고르게 하는 자는 모루를 치는 자를 격려하여 이르기를 '잘했다 잘했다' 하며, 못을 박아서 우상이 기우뚱거리지 않게 한다

( The craftsman encourages the goldsmith, and he who smooths with the hammer spurs on him who strikes the anvil. He says of the welding, "It is good." He nails down the idol so it will not topple.)

 

41:8 "그러나 나의 종 너 이스라엘아, 내가 선택한 야곱아, 나의 친구 아브라함의 자손아!

( "But you, O Israel, my servant, Jacob, whom I have chosen, you descendants of Abraham my friend,)

 

41:9 내가 땅 끝에서부터 너를 데리고 왔으며, 세상의 가장 먼 곳으로부터 너를 불러냈다 그리고 내가 너에게 말하였다 너는 나의 종이니, 내가 너를 선택하였고, 버리지 않았다고 하였다

( I took you from the ends of the earth, from its farthest corners I called you. I said, 'You are my servant'; I have chosen you and have not rejected you.)

 

41:10 내가 너와 함께 있으니, 두려워하지 말아라 내가 너의 하나님이니, 떨지 말아라 내가 너를 강하게 하겠다 내가 너를 도와주고, 내 승리의 오른팔로 너를 붙들어 주겠다

( So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.)

 

41:11 너에게 화를 낸 모든 자들이 수치를 당하며 당황할 것이다 너와 다투는 자들이 아무것도 아닌 자들처럼 되어서 멸망할 것이다

( "All who rage against you will surely be ashamed and disgraced; those who oppose you will be as nothing and perish.)

 

41:12 네가 아무리 찾아보아도 너에게 대적하는 자들은 만나지 못할 것이며, 너와 싸우는 자들이 아무것도 아닌 것 같이, 허무한 것 같이 될 것이다

( Though you search for your enemies, you will not find them. Those who wage war against you will be as nothing at all.)

 

41:13 나는 주 너의 하나님이다 내가 너의 오른손을 붙잡고 있다 내가 너에게 말한다 두려워하지 말아라 내가 너를 돕겠다"

( For I am the LORD, your God, who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you.)

 

41:14 너 지렁이 같은 야곱아, 벌레 같은 이스라엘아, 두려워하지 말아라 주님께서 말씀하시기를 '내가 너를 돕겠다 나 이스라엘의 거룩한 하나님이 너를 속량한다'고 하셨다

( Do not be afraid, O worm Jacob, O little Israel, for I myself will help you," declares the LORD, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel.)

 

41:15 "내가 너를 날이 날카로운 새 타작기로 만들 터이니, 네가 산을 쳐서 부스러기를 만들 것이며 언덕을 겨로 만들 것이다

( "See, I will make you into a threshing sledge, new and sharp, with many teeth. You will thresh the mountains and crush them, and reduce the hills to chaff.)

 

41:16 네가 산들을 까불면, 바람이 그 가루를 날려 버릴 것이며, 회오리바람이 그것들을 흩을 것이다 그러나 너만은 나 주와 더불어 기뻐할 것이며, 나 이스라엘의 거룩한 하나님을 찬양할 것이다

( You will winnow them, the wind will pick them up, and a gale will blow them away. But you will rejoice in the LORD and glory in the Holy One of Israel.)

 

41:17 가련하고 빈궁한 사람들이 물을 찾지 못하여 갈증으로 그들의 혀가 탈 때에, 나 주가 그들의 기도에 응답하겠고, 나 이스라엘의 하나님이 그들을 버리지 않겠다

( "The poor and needy search for water, but there is none; their tongues are parched with thirst. But I the LORD will answer them; I, the God of Israel, will not forsake them.)

 

41:18 내가 메마른 산에서 강물이 터져 나오게 하며, 골짜기 가운데서 샘물이 솟아나게 하겠다 내가 광야를 못으로 바꿀 것이며, 마른 땅을 샘 근원으로 만들겠다

( I will make rivers flow on barren heights, and springs within the valleys. I will turn the desert into pools of water, and the parched ground into springs.)

 

41:19 내가 광야에는 백향목과 아카시아와 화석류와 들올리브 나무를 심고, 사막에는 잣나무와 소나무와 회양목을 함께 심겠다"

( I will put in the desert the cedar and the acacia, the myrtle and the olive. I will set pines in the wasteland, the fir and the cypress together,)

 

41:20 사람들이 이것을 보고, 주님께서 이 일을 몸소 하셨다는 것을 알게 될 것이다 이스라엘의 거룩하신 하나님께서 이것을 창조하셨다는 것을 깨닫게 될 것이다

( so that people may see and know, may consider and understand, that the hand of the LORD has done this, that the Holy One of Israel has created it.)

 

41:21 주님께서 말씀하신다 "민족의 신들아, 소송을 제기하여 보아라" "너희는 확실한 증거를 제시하여 보아라" 야곱의 왕께서 말씀하신다

( "Present your case," says the LORD. "Set forth your arguments," says Jacob's King.)

 

41:22 이리 와서, 장차 무슨 일이 일어날 것인지, 우리에게 말하여 보아라 지난날에 있었던 일들이 어떤 것이었는지, 말하여 보아라 그러면 우리가 그것들을 살펴 그 결과를 알아보겠다 아니면, 앞으로 올 일들을 우리에게 말하여 보아라

( "Bring in your idols to tell us what is going to happen. Tell us what the former things were, so that we may consider them and know their final outcome. Or declare to us the things to come,)

 

41:23 장차 올 일들을 말하여 보아라 그러면 우리가 너희들이 신이라는 것을 알 수 있을 것이다 복을 내리든 화를 내리든, 좀 하여 보아라 그러면 우리가 모두 놀라며 두려워하게 될 것이다

( tell us what the future holds, so we may know that you are gods. Do something, whether good or bad, so that we will be dismayed and filled with fear.)

 

41:24 참으로 너희는 아무것도 아니며, 너희가 하는 일도 헛것이니, 너희를 섬겨 예배하는 자도 혐오스러울 뿐이다

( But you are less than nothing and your works are utterly worthless; he who chooses you is detestable.)

 

41:25 "내가 북쪽에서 한 사람을 일으켜 오게 하였다 나의 이름을 부르는 그 사람을 해 뜨는 곳에서 오게 하였다 그가 와서, 토기장이가 진흙을 밟아 이기듯, 통치자들을 진흙처럼 밟을 것이다"

( "I have stirred up one from the north, and he comes--one from the rising sun who calls on my name. He treads on rulers as if they were mortar, as if he were a potter treading the clay.)

 

41:26 너희 우상들 가운데서, 어떤 우상이 처음부터 이 일을 우리에게 일러주어 알게 하였느냐? 누가 이전부터 우리에게 일러주어서, 우리가 '그것이 옳다' 하고 말하게 한 일이 있느냐? 일러준 자도 없고, 들려준 자도 없었다 우리는 너희 말을 들어본 일이 전혀 없다

( Who told of this from the beginning, so we could know, or beforehand, so we could say, 'He was right'? No one told of this, no one foretold it, no one heard any words from you.)

 

41:27 "나 주가 비로소 처음부터 시온에게 알렸다 '이런 일들을 보아라' 하고 말하였다 내가 기쁜 소식을 전할 사람을 예루살렘에 보냈다

( I was the first to tell Zion, 'Look, here they are!' I gave to Jerusalem a messenger of good tidings.)

 

41:28 내가 우상들을 둘러보았다 그들 가운데 말을 하는 우상은 하나도 없었다 어떤 우상도 내가 묻는 말에 대답하지 못하였다

( I look but there is no one--no one among them to give counsel, no one to give answer when I ask them.)

 

41:29 보아라, 이 모든 우상은 쓸모가 없으며, 그것들은 아무것도 할 수 없다 부어 만든 우상은 바람일 뿐이요, 헛것일 뿐이다"

( See, they are all false! Their deeds amount to nothing; their images are but wind and confusion.)

이사야 42장

 

42:1 "나의 종을 보아라 그는 내가 붙들어 주는 사람이다 내가 택한 사람, 내가 마음으로 기뻐하는 사람이다 내가 그에게 나의 영을 주었으니, 그가 뭇 민족에게 공의를 베풀 것이다

( "Here is my servant, whom I uphold, my chosen one in whom I delight; I will put my Spirit on him and he will bring justice to the nations.)

 

42:2 그는 소리 치거나 목소리를 높이지 않으며, 거리에서는 그 소리가 들리지 않게 할 것이다

( He will not shout or cry out, or raise his voice in the streets.)

 

42:3 그는 상한 갈대를 꺾지 않으며, 꺼져 가는 등불을 끄지 않으며, 진리로 공의를 베풀 것이다

( A bruised reed he will not break, and a smoldering wick he will not snuff out. In faithfulness he will bring forth justice;)

 

42:4 그는 쇠하지 않으며, 낙담하지 않으며, 끝내 세상에 공의를 세울 것이니, 먼 나라에서도 그의 가르침을 받기를 간절히 기다릴 것이다"

( he will not falter or be discouraged till he establishes justice on earth. In his law the islands will put their hope.")

 

42:5 하나님께서 하늘을 창조하여 펴시고, 땅을 만드시고, 거기에 사는 온갖 것을 만드셨다 땅 위에 사는 백성에게 생명을 주시고, 땅 위에 걸어다니는 사람들에게 목숨을 주셨다 주 하나님께서 이렇게 말씀하신다

( This is what God the LORD says--he who created the heavens and stretched them out, who spread out the earth and all that comes out of it, who gives breath to its people, and life to those who walk on it:)

 

42:6 "나 주가 의를 이루려고 너를 불렀다 내가 너의 손을 붙들어 주고, 너를 지켜 주어서, 너를 백성의 언약과 이방의 빛이 되게 할 것이니,

( "I, the LORD, have called you in righteousness; I will take hold of your hand. I will keep you and will make you to be a covenant for the people and a light for the Gentiles,)

 

42:7 네가 눈먼 사람의 눈을 뜨게 하고, 감옥에 갇힌 사람을 이끌어 내고, 어두운 영창에 갇힌 이를 풀어 줄 것이다

( to open eyes that are blind, to free captives from prison and to release from the dungeon those who sit in darkness.)

 

42:8 나는 주다 이것이 나의 이름이다 나는, 내가 받을 영광을 다른 사람에게 넘겨 주지 않고, 내가 받을 찬양을 우상들에게 양보하지 않는다

( "I am the LORD; that is my name! I will not give my glory to another or my praise to idols.)

 

42:9 전에 예고한 일들이 다 이루어졌다 이제 내가 새로 일어날 일들을 예고한다 그 일들이 일어나기 전에, 내가 너희에게 일러준다"

( See, the former things have taken place, and new things I declare; before they spring into being I announce them to you.")

 

42:10 새 노래로 주님을 찬송하여라 땅 끝에서부터 그를 찬송하여라 항해하는 사람들아, 바다 속에 사는 피조물들아, 섬들아, 거기에 사는 주민들아,

( Sing to the LORD a new song, his praise from the ends of the earth, you who go down to the sea, and all that is in it, you islands, and all who live in them.)

 

42:11 광야와 거기에 있는 성읍들아, 게달 사람들이 사는 부락들아, 소리를 높여라 셀라의 주민들아, 기쁜 노래를 불러라 산 꼭대기에서 크게 외쳐라

( Let the desert and its towns raise their voices; let the settlements where Kedar lives rejoice. Let the people of Sela sing for joy; let them shout from the mountaintops.)

 

42:12 주님께 영광을 돌려라 주님을 찬양하는 소리가 섬에까지 울려 퍼지게 하여라

( Let them give glory to the LORD and proclaim his praise in the islands.)

 

42:13 주님께서 용사처럼 나서시고, 전사처럼 용맹을 떨치신다 전쟁의 함성을 드높이 올리시며, 대적들을 물리치신다

( The LORD will march out like a mighty man, like a warrior he will stir up his zeal; with a shout he will raise the battle cry and will triumph over his enemies.)

 

42:14 "내가 오랫동안 조용히 침묵을 지키며 참았으나, 이제는 내가 숨이 차서 헐떡이는, 해산하는 여인과 같이 부르짖겠다

( "For a long time I have kept silent, I have been quiet and held myself back. But now, like a woman in childbirth, I cry out, I gasp and pant.)

 

42:15 내가 큰 산과 작은 산을 황폐하게 하고, 그 초목들을 모두 시들게 하겠다 강들을 사막으로 만들겠고, 호수를 말리겠다

( I will lay waste the mountains and hills and dry up all their vegetation; I will turn rivers into islands and dry up the pools.)

 

42:16 눈 먼 나의 백성을 내가 인도할 것인데, 그들이 한 번도 다니지 못한 길로 인도하겠다 내가 그들 앞에 서서, 암흑을 광명으로 바꾸고, 거친 곳을 평탄하게 만들겠다 이것은 내가 하는 약속이다 반드시 지키겠다"

( I will lead the blind by ways they have not known, along unfamiliar paths I will guide them; I will turn the darkness into light before them and make the rough places smooth. These are the things I will do; I will not forsake them.)

 

42:17 깎아 만든 우상을 믿는 자와, 부어 만든 우상을 보고 '우리의 신들이십니다' 하고 말하는 자들은, 크게 수치를 당하고 물러갈 것이다

( But those who trust in idols, who say to images, 'You are our gods,' will be turned back in utter shame.)

 

42:18 "너희 귀가 먹은 자들아, 들어라 너희 눈이 먼 자들아, 환하게 보아라

( "Hear, you deaf; look, you blind, and see!)

 

42:19 누가 눈이 먼 자냐? 나의 종이 아니냐! 누가 귀가 먹은 자냐? 내가 보낸 나의 사자가 아니냐!" 누가 눈이 먼 자냐? 주님과 언약을 맺은 자가 아니냐! 누가 눈이 먼 자냐? 주님의 종이 아니냐!

( Who is blind but my servant, and deaf like the messenger I send? Who is blind like the one committed to me, blind like the servant of the LORD?)

 

42:20 그는 많은 것을 보았으나, 마음에 새기지 않았다 귀가 열려 있었으나, 귀담아 듣지 않았다

( You have seen many things, but have paid no attention; your ears are open, but you hear nothing.")

 

42:21 주님은 백성을 구원하셔서, 의를 이루려고 힘쓰시는 하나님이시다 그리하여 주님께서는 율법과 교훈을 높이셨고, 백성이 율법과 교훈을 존중하기를 바라셨다

( It pleased the LORD for the sake of his righteousness to make his law great and glorious.)

 

42:22 그러나 지금 그의 백성은 약탈과 노략을 당하였으며, 그들은 모두 구덩이 속에 갇혀 있고, 감옥에 갇혀 있다 그들이 약탈을 당하였으나, 구하여 주는 자가 없고, 노략을 당하였으나, 노략자들에게 '돌려주어라' 하고 말해 주는 자가 없다

( But this is a people plundered and looted, all of them trapped in pits or hidden away in prisons. They have become plunder, with no one to rescue them; they have been made loot, with no one to say, "Send them back.")

 

42:23 너희 가운데 누가 이 일에 귀를 기울이겠느냐? 누가 앞으로 일어날 일을 주의하여 듣겠느냐?

( Which of you will listen to this or pay close attention in time to come?)

 

42:24 야곱이 노략을 당하게 버려 둔 이가 누구였으며, 이스라엘을 약탈자에게 넘겨 준 이가 누구였느냐? 바로 주님이 아니시냐? 우리가 주님께 죄를 지었다 백성이 주님의 길로 걸으려 하지 않았으며, 그의 법을 순종하려 하지 않았으므로,

( Who handed Jacob over to become loot, and Israel to the plunderers? Was it not the LORD, against whom we have sinned? For they would not follow his ways; they did not obey his law.)

 

42:25 주님께서, 불타는 진노와 참혹한 전화를, 이스라엘 위에 쏟으셨다 사방에서 불이 야곱을 덮었으나, 이것이 무슨 일인지 알지 못하였고, 불이 그를 태웠으나, 아무것도 깨닫지 못하였다

( So he poured out on them his burning anger, the violence of war. It enveloped them in flames, yet they did not understand; it consumed them, but they did not take it to heart.)

이사야 43장

 

43:1 그러나 이제 야곱아, 너를 창조하신 주님께서 말씀하신다 이스라엘아, 너를 지으신 주님께서 말씀하신다 "내가 너를 속량하였으니, 두려워하지 말아라 내가 너를 지명하여 불렀으니, 너는 나의 것이다

( But now, this is what the LORD says--he who created you, O Jacob, he who formed you, O Israel: "Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine.)

 

43:2 네가 물 가운데로 건너갈 때에, 내가 너와 함께 하고, 네가 강을 건널 때에도 물이 너를 침몰시키지 못할 것이다 네가 불 속을 걸어가도, 그을리지 않을 것이며, 불꽃이 너를 태우지 못할 것이다

( When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.)

 

43:3 나는 주, 너의 하나님이다 이스라엘의 거룩한 하나님이다 너의 구원자다 내가 이집트를 속량물로 내주어 너를 구속하겠고, 너를 구속하려고, 너 대신에 에티오피아와 쓰바를 내주겠다

( For I am the LORD, your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior; I give Egypt for your ransom, Cush and Seba in your stead.)

 

43:4 내가 너를 보배롭고 존귀하게 여겨 너를 사랑하였으므로, 너를 대신하여 다른 사람들을 내주고, 너의 생명을 대신하여 다른 민족들을 내주겠다

( Since you are precious and honored in my sight, and because I love you, I will give men in exchange for you, and people in exchange for your life.)

 

43:5 내가 너와 함께 있으니 두려워하지 말아라 내가 동쪽에서 너의 자손을 오게 하며, 서쪽에서 너희를 모으겠다

( Do not be afraid, for I am with you; I will bring your children from the east and gather you from the west.)

 

43:6 북쪽에다가 이르기를 '그들을 놓아 보내어라' 하고, 남쪽에다가도 '그들을 붙들어 두지 말아라 나의 아들들을 먼 곳에서부터 오게 하고, 나의 딸들을 땅 끝에서부터 오게 하여라

( I will say to the north, 'Give them up!' and to the south, 'Do not hold them back.' Bring my sons from afar and my daughters from the ends of the earth--)

 

43:7 나의 이름을 부르는 나의 백성, 나에게 영광을 돌리라고 창조한 사람들, 내가 빚어 만든 사람들을 모두 오게 하여라' 하고 말하겠다"

( everyone who is called by my name, whom I created for my glory, whom I formed and made.")

 

43:8 백성을 법정으로 데리고 나오너라 눈이 있어도 눈이 먼 자요, 귀가 있어도 귀가 먹은 자다!

( Lead out those who have eyes but are blind, who have ears but are deaf.)

 

43:9 모든 열방과, 뭇 민족도 함께 재판정으로 나오너라 그들의 신들 가운데서 어느 신이 미래를 예고할 수 있느냐? 그들 가운데서 누가 이제 곧 일어날 일을 예고할 수 있느냐? 그 신들이 증인들을 내세워서, 자신들의 옳음을 증언하게 하고, 사람들 앞에서 증언하게 하여서, 듣는 사람들마다 '그것이 사실'이라고 말하게 하여 보아라

( All the nations gather together and the peoples assemble. Which of them foretold this and proclaimed to us the former things? Let them bring in their witnesses to prove they were right, so that others may hear and say, "It is true.")

 

43:10 주님께서 말씀하신다 "너희는 나의 증인이며, 내가 택한 나의 종이다 이렇게 한 것은, 너희가 나를 알고 믿게 하려는 것이고, 오직 나만이 하나님임을 깨달아 알게 하려는 것이다 나보다 먼저 지음을 받은 신이 있을 수 없고, 나 이후에도 있을 수 없다

( "You are my witnesses," declares the LORD, "and my servant whom I have chosen, so that you may know and believe me and understand that I am he. Before me no god was formed, nor will there be one after me.)

 

43:11 나 곧 내가 주이니, 나 말고는 어떤 구원자도 없다

( I, even I, am the LORD, and apart from me there is no savior.)

 

43:12 바로 내가 승리를 예고하였고, 너희를 구원하였고, 구원을 선언하였다 이방의 어떤 신도 이렇게 하지 못하였다 이 일에 있어서는 너희가 나의 증인이다 내가 하나님이다" 주님께서 하신 말씀이다

( I have revealed and saved and proclaimed--I, and not some foreign god among you. You are my witnesses," declares the LORD, "that I am God.)

 

43:13 "태초부터 내가 바로 하나님이다 내가 장악하고 있는데, 빠져 나갈 자가 누구냐? 내가 하는 일을, 누가 감히 돌이킬 수 있겠느냐?"

( Yes, and from ancient days I am he. No one can deliver out of my hand. When I act, who can reverse it?")

 

43:14 너희들의 속량자시요, '이스라엘의 거룩하신 분'이신 주님께서 이렇게 말씀하신다 "내가 바빌론에 군대를 보내어 그 도성을 치고 너희를 구하여 내겠다 성문 빗장을 다 부수어 버릴 터이니, 바빌로니아 사람의 아우성이 통곡으로 바뀔 것이다

( This is what the LORD says--your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: "For your sake I will send to Babylon and bring down as fugitives all the Babylonians, in the ships in which they took pride.)

 

43:15 나는 주, 너희의 거룩한 하나님이며, 이스라엘의 창조자요, 너희의 왕이다

( I am the LORD, your Holy One, Israel's Creator, your King.")

 

43:16 내가 바다 가운데 길을 내고, 거센 물결 위에 통로를 냈다

( This is what the LORD says--he who made a way through the sea, a path through the mighty waters,)

 

43:17 내가 병거와 말과 병력과 용사들을 모두 이끌어 내어 쓰러뜨려서, 다시는 일어나지 못하게 하고, 그들을 마치 꺼져 가는 등잔 심지같이 꺼버렸다 나 주가 말한다

( who drew out the chariots and horses, the army and reinforcements together, and they lay there, never to rise again, extinguished, snuffed out like a wick:)

 

43:18 너희는 지나간 일을 기억하려고 하지 말며, 옛일을 생각하지 말아라

( "Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past.)

 

43:19 내가 이제 새 일을 하려고 한다 이 일이 이미 드러나고 있는데, 너희가 그것을 알지 못하겠느냐? 내가 광야에 길을 내겠으며, 사막에 강을 내겠다

( See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland.)

 

43:20 들짐승들도 나를 공경할 것이다 이리와 타조도 나를 찬양할 것이다 내가 택한 내 백성에게 물을 마시게 하려고, 광야에 물을 대고, 사막에 강을 내었기 때문이다

( The wild animals honor me, the jackals and the owls, because I provide water in the desert and streams in the wasteland, to give drink to my people, my chosen,)

 

43:21 이 백성은, 나를 위하라고 내가 지은 백성이다 그들이 나를 찬양할 것이다"

( the people I formed for myself that they may proclaim my praise.)

 

43:22 "야곱아, 너는 나를 부르지 않았다 이스라엘아, 너는 오히려 나에게 싫증을 느낀다

( "Yet you have not called upon me, O Jacob, you have not wearied yourselves for me, O Israel.)

 

43:23 너는 나에게 양의 번제물을 가져 오지 않았고, 제물을 바쳐서 나를 높이지도 않았다 내가 예물 때문에 너를 수고롭게 하지도 않았고, 유향 때문에 너를 괴롭게 하지도 않았다

( You have not brought me sheep for burnt offerings, nor honored me with your sacrifices. I have not burdened you with grain offerings nor wearied you with demands for incense.)

 

43:24 너는 나에게 바칠 향도 사지 않았으며, 제물의 기름으로 나를 흡족하게 하지도 않았다 도리어 너는 너의 죄로 나를 수고롭게 하였으며, 너의 악함으로 나를 괴롭혔다

( You have not bought any fragrant calamus for me, or lavished on me the fat of your sacrifices. But you have burdened me with your sins and wearied me with your offenses.)

 

43:25 그러나 나는 네 죄를 용서하는 하나님이다 내가 너를 용서한 것은 너 때문이 아니다 나의 거룩한 이름을 속되게 하지 않으려고 그렇게 한 것일 뿐이다 내가 더 이상 너의 죄를 기억하지 않겠다

( "I, even I, am he who blots out your transgressions, for my own sake, and remembers your sins no more.)

 

43:26 나에게 상기시키고 싶은 일이 있느냐? 함께 판가름을 하여 보자 네가 옳다는 것을 나에게 증명하여 보여라

( Review the past for me, let us argue the matter together; state the case for your innocence.)

 

43:27 너의 첫 조상부터 나에게 죄를 지었고, 너의 지도자들도 나를 반역하였다

( Your first father sinned; your spokesmen rebelled against me.)

 

43:28 그래서 내가 성소의 지도자들을 속되게 하였으며, 야곱이 진멸을 받게 버려 두었고, 이스라엘이 비방거리가 되게 버려 두었다"

( So I will disgrace the dignitaries of your temple, and I will consign Jacob to destruction and Israel to scorn.)
