이사야 36장

 

36:1 히스기야 왕 제 십사년에, 앗시리아 왕 산헤립이 올라와서, 견고한 유다의 모든 성읍을 공격하여 점령하였다

( In the fourteenth year of King Hezekiah's reign, Sennacherib king of Assyria attacked all the fortified cities of Judah and captured them.)

 

36:2 그래서 앗시리아 왕은 라기스에서 랍사게에게 많은 병력을 주어, 예루살렘의 히스기야 왕에게로 보냈다 그는 빨래터로 가는 큰 길 가 윗저수지의 수로 옆에 주둔하였다

( Then the king of Assyria sent his field commander with a large army from Lachish to King Hezekiah at Jerusalem. When the commander stopped at the aqueduct of the Upper Pool, on the road to the Washerman's Field,)

 

36:3 그 때에, 힐기야의 아들 궁내대신 엘리야김과 서기관 셉나와 아삽의 아들 역사 기록관 요아가, 그를 맞으러 나갔다

( Eliakim son of Hilkiah the palace administrator, Shebna the secretary, and Joah son of Asaph the recorder went out to him.)

 

36:4 랍사게가 그들에게 말하였다 "히스기야에게 전하여라 위대한 왕이신 앗시리아의 임금님께서 이렇게 말씀하신다 '네가 무엇을 믿고 이렇게 자신만만 하냐?

( The field commander said to them, "Tell Hezekiah, "'This is what the great king, the king of Assyria, says: On what are you basing this confidence of yours?)

 

36:5 전쟁을 할 전술도 없고, 군사력도 없으면서, 입으로만 전쟁을 할 수 있다고 생각하느냐? 네가 지금 누구를 믿고 나에게 반역하느냐?

( You say you have strategy and military strength--but you speak only empty words. On whom are you depending, that you rebel against me?)

 

36:6 너는 부러진 갈대 지팡이 같은 이 이집트를 의지한다고 하지만, 그것을 믿고 붙드는 자는 손만 찔리게 될 것이다 이집트 왕 바로를 신뢰하는 자는 누구나 이와 같이 될 것이다

( Look now, you are depending on Egypt, that splintered reed of a staff, which pierces a man's hand and wounds him if he leans on it! Such is Pharaoh king of Egypt to all who depend on him.)

 

36:7 너는 또 나에게, 너희가 주 너희의 하나님을 의지한다고 말하겠지마는, 유다와 예루살렘에 사는 백성에게, 예루살렘에 있는 이 제단 앞에서만 경배하여야 한다고 하면서, 산당과 제단들을 다 헐어 버린 것이, 바로 너 히스기야가 아니냐!'

( And if you say to me, "We are depending on the LORD our God"--isn't he the one whose high places and altars Hezekiah removed, saying to Judah and Jerusalem, "You must worship before this altar"?)

 

36:8 자, 이제 나의 상전이신 앗시리아의 임금님과 겨루어 보아라 내가 너에게 말 이천 필을 준다고 한들, 네가 그 위에 탈 사람을 내놓을 수 있겠느냐?

( "'Come now, make a bargain with my master, the king of Assyria: I will give you two thousand horses--if you can put riders on them!)

 

36:9 네가 나의 상전의 부하들 가운데서 하찮은 병사 하나라도 물리칠 수 있겠느냐? 그러면서도, 병거와 기병의 지원을 얻으려고 이집트를 의존하느냐?

( How then can you repulse one officer of the least of my master's officials, even though you are depending on Egypt for chariots and horsemen?)

 

36:10 이제 생각하여 보아라 내가 이 곳을 멸망시키려고 오면서, 어찌, 너희가 섬기는 주님의 허락도 받지 않고 왔겠느냐? 주님께서 친히 나에게 말씀하시기를, 이 땅을 치러 올라가서, 그 곳을 멸망시키라고 이르셨다"

( Furthermore, have I come to attack and destroy this land without the LORD? The LORD himself told me to march against this country and destroy it.'")

 

36:11 엘리야김과 셉나와 요아가 랍사게에게 말하였다 "성벽 위에서 백성이 듣고 있으니, 우리에게 유다 말로 말씀하지 말아 주십시오 이 종들에게 시리아 말로 말씀하여 주십시오 우리가 시리아 말을 알아듣습니다"

( Then Eliakim, Shebna and Joah said to the field commander, "Please speak to your servants in Aramaic, since we understand it. Don't speak to us in Hebrew in the hearing of the people on the wall.")

 

36:12 그러나 랍사게는 그들에게 대답하였다 "나의 상전께서 나를 보내셔서, 이 말을 하게 하신 것은, 다만 너희의 상전과 너희만 들으라고 하신 것이 아니다 너희와 함께, 자기가 눈 대변을 먹고 자기가 본 소변을 마실, 성벽 위에 앉아 있는 저 백성에게도 이 말을 전하라고 나를 보내셨다"

( But the commander replied, "Was it only to your master and you that my master sent me to say these things, and not to the men sitting on the wall--who, like you, will have to eat their own filth and drink their own urine?")

 

36:13 랍사게가 일어나서, 유다 말로 크게 외쳤다 "너희는, 위대한 왕이신 앗시리아의 임금님께서 하시는 말씀을 들어라!

( Then the commander stood and called out in Hebrew, "Hear the words of the great king, the king of Assyria!)

 

36:14 임금님께서 이렇게 말씀하신다 '히스기야에게 속지 말아라 그는 너희를 구원하여 낼 수 없다

( This is what the king says: Do not let Hezekiah deceive you. He cannot deliver you!)

 

36:15 히스기야가 너희를 속여서, 주님께서 너희를 구원하실 것이며, 이 도성을 앗시리아 왕의 손에 절대로 넘겨 주지 않으실 것이라고 말하면서, 너희로 주님을 의지하게 하려 하여도, 너희는 그 말을 믿지 말아라

( Do not let Hezekiah persuade you to trust in the LORD when he says, 'The LORD will surely deliver us; this city will not be given into the hand of the king of Assyria.')

 

36:16 히스기야의 말을 듣지 말아라' 앗시리아의 임금님께서 이렇게 말씀하신다 '나와 평화조약을 맺고, 나에게로 나아오라 그리하면, 너희는 각각 자기의 포도나무와 자기의 무화과나무에서 난 열매를 따먹게 될 것이며, 각기 자기가 판 샘에서 물을 마시게 될 것이다

( "Do not listen to Hezekiah. This is what the king of Assyria says: Make peace with me and come out to me. Then every one of you will eat from his own vine and fig tree and drink water from his own cistern,)

 

36:17 이제 곧 내가 가서, 너희의 땅과 같은 땅, 곧 곡식과 새 포도주가 나는 땅, 빵과 포도원이 있는 땅으로, 너희를 데려갈 터이니,

( until I come and take you to a land like your own--a land of grain and new wine, a land of bread and vineyards.)

 

36:18 히스기야가 너희를 꾀어, 주님께서 틀림없이 너희를 구원하실 것이라고 말하더라도, 너희는 속지 말아라 뭇 민족의 신들 가운데서, 그 어느 신이 앗시리아 왕의 손에서 자기 땅을 구원한 일이 있느냐?

( "Do not let Hezekiah mislead you when he says, 'The LORD will deliver us.' Has the god of any nation ever delivered his land from the hand of the king of Assyria?)

 

36:19 하맛과 아르밧의 신들은 어디에 있으며, 스발와임의 신들은 또 어디에 있느냐? 그들이 사마리아를 나의 손에서 건져내었느냐?

( Where are the gods of Hamath and Arpad? Where are the gods of Sepharvaim? Have they rescued Samaria from my hand?)

 

36:20 여러 민족의 신들 가운데서 그 어느 신이 나의 손에서 자기 땅을 구원한 일이 있기에, 너희의 주 하나님이 나의 손에서 예루살렘을 구원할 수 있겠느냐?'"

( Who of all the gods of these countries has been able to save his land from me? How then can the LORD deliver Jerusalem from my hand?")

 

36:21 백성은 한 마디도 대답하지 않고 조용히 있었다 그에게 아무런 대답도 하지 말라는 왕의 명령이 있었기 때문이다

( But the people remained silent and said nothing in reply, because the king had commanded, "Do not answer him.")

 

36:22 힐기야의 아들 궁내대신 엘리야김과 서기관 셉나와 아삽의 아들 역사 기록관 요아는, 울분을 참지 못하여, 옷을 찢으며 히스기야에게 돌아와서, 랍사게의 말을 그대로 전하였다

( Then Eliakim son of Hilkiah the palace administrator, Shebna the secretary, and Joah son of Asaph the recorder went to Hezekiah, with their clothes torn, and told him what the field commander had said.)

이사야 37장

 

37:1 히스기야 왕도 이 말을 듣고, 울분을 참지 못하여, 자기 옷을 찢고, 베옷을 두르고, 주님의 성전으로 들어갔다

( When King Hezekiah heard this, he tore his clothes and put on sackcloth and went into the temple of the LORD.)

 

37:2 그는 궁내대신 엘리야김과 서기관 셉나와 원로 제사장들에게 베옷을 두르게 한 뒤에, 이 사람들을 아모스의 아들 예언자 이사야에게 보냈다

( He sent Eliakim the palace administrator, Shebna the secretary, and the leading priests, all wearing sackcloth, to the prophet Isaiah son of Amoz.)

 

37:3 그들은 이사야에게 가서, 히스기야 왕의 말씀이라고 하면서, 이렇게 말하였다 "오늘은 환난과 징계와 굴욕의 날입니다 아이를 낳으려 하나, 낳을 힘이 없는 산모와도 같습니다

( They told him, "This is what Hezekiah says: This day is a day of distress and rebuke and disgrace, as when children come to the point of birth and there is no strength to deliver them.)

 

37:4 주 그대의 하나님께서는 랍사게가 한 말을 다 들으셨을 것입니다 랍사게는, 살아 계신 하나님을 모욕하려고, 그의 상전인 앗시리아 왕이 보낸 자입니다 주 그대의 하나님께서 그가 하는 말을 들으셨으니, 그를 심판하실 것입니다 그대는 여기에 남아 있는 우리들이 구원받도록 기도하여 주십시오"

( It may be that the LORD your God will hear the words of the field commander, whom his master, the king of Assyria, has sent to ridicule the living God, and that he will rebuke him for the words the LORD your God has heard. Therefore pray for the remnant that still survives.")

 

37:5 히스기야 왕의 신하들이 이사야에게 가서 이렇게 말하니,

( When King Hezekiah's officials came to Isaiah,)

 

37:6 이사야가 그들에게 대답하였다 "그대들의 왕에게 이렇게 전하십시오 주님께서 이렇게 말씀하십니다 '앗시리아 왕의 부하들이 나를 모욕하는 말을 네가 들었다고 하여, 그렇게 두려워하지 말아라

( Isaiah said to them, "Tell your master, 'This is what the LORD says: Do not be afraid of what you have heard--those words with which the underlings of the king of Assyria have blasphemed me.)

 

37:7 내가 그에게 한 영을 내려 보내어, 그가 뜬소문을 듣고 자기 나라로 돌아가게 할 것이며, 거기에서 칼에 맞아 죽게 할 것이다'"

( Listen! I am going to put a spirit in him so that when he hears a certain report, he will return to his own country, and there I will have him cut down with the sword.'")

 

37:8 랍사게는, 자기 왕이 라기스를 떠났다는 소식을 듣고 후퇴하여, 립나를 치고 있는 앗시리아 왕과 합세하였다

( When the field commander heard that the king of Assyria had left Lachish, he withdrew and found the king fighting against Libnah.)

 

37:9 그 때에 앗시리아 왕은, 에티오피아 왕 디르하가가 자기와 싸우려고 출전하였다는 말을 들었다 그는 이 말을 듣고, 히스기야에게 사신들을 보내어, 이렇게 말하였다

( Now Sennacherib received a report that Tirhakah, the Cushite king of Egypt, was marching out to fight against him. When he heard it, he sent messengers to Hezekiah with this word:)

 

37:10 "우리의 임금님께서 유다 임금 히스기야에게 이렇게 전하라고 하셨습니다 '네가 의지하는 너의 하나님께서 예루살렘을 앗시리아 왕의 손에 넘어가게 하지 않으실 것이라고 하여도, 너는 그 말에 속지 말아라

( "Say to Hezekiah king of Judah: Do not let the god you depend on deceive you when he says, 'Jerusalem will not be handed over to the king of Assyria.')

 

37:11 너는, 앗시리아 왕들이 다른 모든 나라를 멸하려고 어떻게 하였는지, 잘 들었을 것이다 그런데 너만은 구원받을 것이라고 믿느냐?

( Surely you have heard what the kings of Assyria have done to all the countries, destroying them completely. And will you be delivered?)

 

37:12 나의 선왕들이 멸망시킨, 고산과 하란과 레셉과, 들라살에 있는 에덴 족을, 그 민족들의 신들이 구하여 낼 수 있었느냐?

( Did the gods of the nations that were destroyed by my forefathers deliver them--the gods of Gozan, Haran, Rezeph and the people of Eden who were in Tel Assar?)

 

37:13 하맛의 왕, 아르밧의 왕, 스발와임 도성의 왕, 그리고 헤나 왕과 이와 왕들이 모두 어디로 갔느냐?'"

( Where is the king of Hamath, the king of Arpad, the king of the city of Sepharvaim, or of Hena or Ivvah?")

 

37:14 히스기야는 사신들에게서 이 편지를 받아 읽었다 그런 다음에 주님의 성전으로 올라가서, 주님 앞에 편지를 펴놓은 뒤에,

( Hezekiah received the letter from the messengers and read it. Then he went up to the temple of the LORD and spread it out before the LORD.)

 

37:15 주님께 기도하였다

( And Hezekiah prayed to the LORD:)

 

37:16 그룹들 위에 계시는 이스라엘의 하나님, 만군의 주님, 주님만이 이 세상의 모든 나라를 다스리시는 오직 한 분뿐이신 하나님이시며, 하늘과 땅을 만드신 분이십니다

( "O LORD Almighty, God of Israel, enthroned between the cherubim, you alone are God over all the kingdoms of the earth. You have made heaven and earth.)

 

37:17 주님, 귀를 기울여 들어주십시오 주님, 눈여겨 보아 주십시오 살아 계신 하나님을 모욕하는 말을 전한 저 산헤립의 망언을 잊지 마십시오

( Give ear, O LORD, and hear; open your eyes, O LORD, and see; listen to all the words Sennacherib has sent to insult the living God.)

 

37:18 주님, 참으로 앗시리아 왕들이 여러 나라와 그 땅을 마구 짓밟아 버렸습니다

( "It is true, O LORD, that the Assyrian kings have laid waste all these peoples and their lands.)

 

37:19 여러 민족이 믿는 신들을 모두 불에 던져 태웠습니다 그러나, 그들은 참 신들이 아니라, 나무와 돌로 만든 것들이기에, 앗시리아 왕들에게 멸망당할 수밖에 없었습니다마는,

( They have thrown their gods into the fire and destroyed them, for they were not gods but only wood and stone, fashioned by human hands.)

 

37:20 주 우리의 하나님, 이제 그의 손에서 우리를 구원하여 주셔서, 세상의 모든 나라가, 오직 주님만이 홀로 주 하나님이심을 알게 하여 주십시오

( Now, O LORD our God, deliver us from his hand, so that all kingdoms on earth may know that you alone, O LORD, are God.")

 

37:21 아모스의 아들 이사야가 히스기야에게 사람을 보내어, 이렇게 말하였다 "주 이스라엘의 하나님께서는, 임금님께서 앗시리아 왕 산헤립의 일 때문에 주님께 올린 그 기도를 들으셨다고 말씀하셨습니다

( Then Isaiah son of Amoz sent a message to Hezekiah: "This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: Because you have prayed to me concerning Sennacherib king of Assyria,)

 

37:22 앗시리아 왕을 두고, 주님께서 다음과 같이 말씀하셨습니다" "처녀 딸 시온이 너 산헤립을 경멸하고 비웃는다 딸 예루살렘이 오히려 물러나는 너의 뒷모습을 보며, 머리를 흔든다

( this is the word the LORD has spoken against him: "The Virgin Daughter of Zion despises and mocks you. The Daughter of Jerusalem tosses her head as you flee.)

 

37:23 네가 감히 누구를 모욕하고 멸시하였느냐? 네가 누구에게 큰소리를 쳤느냐? 이스라엘의 거룩하신 분께, 네가 감히 너의 눈을 부릅떴느냐?

( Who is it you have insulted and blasphemed? Against whom have you raised your voice and lifted your eyes in pride? Against the Holy One of Israel!)

 

37:24 네가 종들을 보내어서 나 주를 조롱하며 말하였다 '내가 수많은 병거를 몰아, 높은 산 이 꼭대기에서 저 꼭대기까지, 레바논의 막다른 곳까지 깊숙히 들어가서, 키 큰 백향목과 아름다운 잣나무를 베어 버리고, 울창한 숲 속 깊숙히 들어가서, 그 끝간 데까지 들어갔고,

( By your messengers you have heaped insults on the Lord. And you have said, 'With my many chariots I have ascended the heights of the mountains, the utmost heights of Lebanon. I have cut down its tallest cedars, the choicest of its pines. I have reached its remotest heights, the finest of its forests.)

 

37:25 그리고는 땅을 파서 다른 나라의 물을 마시며, 발바닥으로 밟기만 하고서도, 이집트의 모든 강물을 말렸다'

( I have dug wells in foreign lands and drunk the water there. With the soles of my feet I have dried up all the streams of Egypt.')

 

37:26 산헤립아, 너는 듣지 못하였느냐? 그런 일은 이미 내가 오래 전에 결정한 것들이고, 아득한 옛날부터 이미 내가 계획한 것들이다 이제 내가 그것을 이루었을 뿐이다 그래서 네가 견고한 요새들을 돌무더기로 만들고

( "Have you not heard? Long ago I ordained it. In days of old I planned it; now I have brought it to pass, that you have turned fortified cities into piles of stone.)

 

37:27 여러 민족의 간담을 서늘하게 하고, 공포에 질리게 하고, 부끄럽게 하였다 민족들은 초목과 같고, 자라기도 전에 말라 버리는 풀포기나 지붕 위의 잡초와 같았다

( Their people, drained of power, are dismayed and put to shame. They are like plants in the field, like tender green shoots, like grass sprouting on the roof, scorched before it grows up.)

 

37:28 나는 다 알고 있다 네가 앉고 서는 것, 네가 나가고 들어오는 것, 네가 나에게 분노를 품고 있는 것도, 나는 모두 다 알고 있다

( "But I know where you stay and when you come and go and how you rage against me.)

 

37:29 네가 나에게 품고 있는 분노와 오만을, 이미 오래 전에 내가 직접 들었기에, 내가 너의 코를 갈고리로 꿰고, 너의 입에 재갈을 물려, 네가 왔던 그 길로 너를 되돌아가게 하겠다"

( Because you rage against me and because your insolence has reached my ears, I will put my hook in your nose and my bit in your mouth, and I will make you return by the way you came.)

 

37:30 "히스기야 임금님, 주님께서 임금님께 다음과 같은 증거를 보이실 것입니다 금년에는 백성이, 들에서 저절로 자라난 곡식을 먹고, 내년에도 들에서 저절로 자라난 곡식을 먹을 것입니다 그러나 그 다음 해에는, 백성이 씨를 뿌리고 곡식을 거둘 것이며, 포도밭을 가꾸어서 그 열매를 먹을 것입니다

( "This will be the sign for you, O Hezekiah: "This year you will eat what grows by itself, and the second year what springs from that. But in the third year sow and reap, plant vineyards and eat their fruit.)

 

37:31 유다 사람들 가운데서 난을 피하여 살아 남은 사람들이, 다시 땅 아래로 깊이 뿌리를 내리고, 위로 열매를 맺을 것입니다"

( Once more a remnant of the house of Judah will take root below and bear fruit above.)

 

37:32 남은 사람들이 예루살렘에서부터 나오고, 환난을 피한 사람들이 시온 산에서 나올 것이다' 만군의 주님께서 정열을 가지고서 이 일을 이루실 것입니다

( For out of Jerusalem will come a remnant, and out of Mount Zion a band of survivors. The zeal of the LORD Almighty will accomplish this.)

 

37:33 그러므로 앗시리아 왕을 두고, 주님께서 이렇게 말씀하십니다 "그는 이 도성에 들어오지 못하며, 이리로 활도 한 번 쏘아 보지 못할 것이다 방패를 앞세워 접근하지도 못하며, 성을 공격할 토성을 쌓지도 못할 것이다

( "Therefore this is what the LORD says concerning the king of Assyria: "He will not enter this city or shoot an arrow here. He will not come before it with shield or build a siege ramp against it.)

 

37:34 그는 왔던 길로 되돌아갈 것이고, 이 도성 안으로는 절대로 들어오지 못한다 이것은 나 주의 말이다

( By the way that he came he will return; he will not enter this city," declares the LORD.)

 

37:35 나는 나의 명성을 지키려 하여서라도 이 도성을 보호하고, 나의 종 다윗을 보아서라도 이 도성을 구원하겠다"

( "I will defend this city and save it, for my sake and for the sake of David my servant!")

 

37:36 그런 다음에 주님의 천사가 나아가서, 앗시리아 군의 진영에서 십팔만 오천 명을 쳐죽였다 다음날 아침이 밝았을 때에, 그들은 모두 죽은 시체로 발견되었다

( Then the angel of the LORD went out and put to death a hundred and eighty-five thousand men in the Assyrian camp. When the people got up the next morning--there were all the dead bodies!)

 

37:37 앗시리아 왕 산헤립은 그 곳을 떠나, 니느웨 도성으로 돌아가서 머물렀다

( So Sennacherib king of Assyria broke camp and withdrew. He returned to Nineveh and stayed there.)

 

37:38 그러던 어느 날, 그가 자기 신 니스록의 신전에서 예배하고 있을 때에, 그의 두 아들 아드람멜렉과 사레셀이 그를 칼로 쳐죽이고, 아라랏 땅으로 도망하였다 그 뒤를 이어 그의 아들 에살핫돈이 왕이 되었다

( One day, while he was worshiping in the temple of his god Nisroch, his sons Adrammelech and Sharezer cut him down with the sword, and they escaped to the land of Ararat. And Esarhaddon his son succeeded him as king.)

이사야 38장

 

38:1 그 무렵에 히스기야가 병이 들어서 거의 죽게 되었는데, 아모스의 아들 예언자 이사야가 그에게 와서 말하였다 "주님께서 이렇게 말씀하십니다 '네가 죽게 되었으니, 너의 집안 모든 일을 정리하여라 네가 다시 회복되지 못할 것이다'"

( In those days Hezekiah became ill and was at the point of death. The prophet Isaiah son of Amoz went to him and said, "This is what the LORD says: Put your house in order, because you are going to die; you will not recover.")

 

38:2 이 말을 듣고서 히스기야는, 그의 얼굴을 벽쪽으로 돌리고, 주님께 기도하여,

( Hezekiah turned his face to the wall and prayed to the LORD,)

 

38:3 이렇게 아뢰었다 "주님, 주님께 빕니다 제가 주님 앞에서 진실하게 살아온 것과, 온전한 마음으로 순종한 것과, 주님께서 보시기에 선한 일 한 것을, 기억하여 주십시오" 이렇게 기도하고 나서, 히스기야는 한참 동안 흐느껴 울었다

( "Remember, O LORD, how I have walked before you faithfully and with wholehearted devotion and have done what is good in your eyes." And Hezekiah wept bitterly.)

 

38:4 그 때에 주님께서 이사야에게 말씀하셨다

( Then the word of the LORD came to Isaiah:)

 

38:5 "너는 되돌아가서, 히스기야에게 일러라 '너의 조상 다윗의 하나님이신 주님께서 이렇게 말씀하신다 네가 기도하는 소리를 내가 들었고, 네가 흘리는 눈물도 내가 보았다 내가 너의 목숨을 열다섯 해 더 연장시키고,

( "Go and tell Hezekiah, 'This is what the LORD, the God of your father David, says: I have heard your prayer and seen your tears; I will add fifteen years to your life.)

 

38:6 너와 이 도성을 앗시리아 왕의 손에서 구하고, 이 도성을 보호하겠다

( And I will deliver you and this city from the hand of the king of Assyria. I will defend this city.)

 

38:7 나 주는 약속한 것을 그대로 이룬다 그 증거를 나 주가 너에게 보여 주겠다

( "'This is the LORD'S sign to you that the LORD will do what he has promised:)

 

38:8 아하스의 해시계에 비친 그림자가 십 도 뒤로 물러갈 것이니, 해도 내려갔던 데서 십 도 올라갈 것이다'"

( I will make the shadow cast by the sun go back the ten steps it has gone down on the stairway of Ahaz.'" So the sunlight went back the ten steps it had gone down.)

 

38:9 다음은, 유다 왕 히스기야가 병이 들었다가 그 병에서 회복된 다음에 읊은 시이다

( A writing of Hezekiah king of Judah after his illness and recovery:)

 

38:10 나는 한창 나이에 스올의 문으로 들어가는가 싶었다 남은 여생을 빼앗긴다는 생각도 들었다

( I said, "In the prime of my life must I go through the gates of death and be robbed of the rest of my years?")

 

38:11 나는 또 이런 생각도 들었다 '내가 다시는 주님을 뵙지 못하겠구나 사람이 사는 땅에서는 다시는 주님을 뵙지 못하겠구나 내가 다시는, 세상에 사는 사람 가운데서 단 한 사람도 볼 수 없겠구나'

( I said, "I will not again see the LORD, the LORD, in the land of the living; no longer will I look on mankind, or be with those who now dwell in this world.)

 

38:12 목동이 장막을 거두어서 자리를 옮기듯이, 나의 생명도 장막처럼 뜯겨서 옮겨질 것이다 베 짜는 사람이 베를 다 짜면 베틀에서 베를 거두어서 말듯이, 나도 나의 목숨을 다 짠 베처럼 말아야 할 것이다 주님께서 조만간에 내 목숨을 끊으실 것이다

( Like a shepherd's tent my house has been pulled down and taken from me. Like a weaver I have rolled up my life, and he has cut me off from the loom; day and night you made an end of me.)

 

38:13 마치 사자가 나의 뼈를 바수어 먹기라도 하듯이, 나는 날이 샐 때까지 울부짖었다 주님께서 조만간에 내 목숨을 끊으실 것이다

( I waited patiently till dawn, but like a lion he broke all my bones; day and night you made an end of me.)

 

38:14 나는 제비처럼 학처럼 애타게 소리 지르고, 비둘기처럼 구슬피 울었다 나는 눈이 멀도록 하늘을 우러러보았다 '주님, 저는 괴롭습니다 이 고통에서 저를 건져 주십시오!'

( I cried like a swift or thrush, I moaned like a mourning dove. My eyes grew weak as I looked to the heavens. I am troubled; O Lord, come to my aid!")

 

38:15 주님께서 말씀하셨고, 주님께서 그대로 이루셨는데, 내가 무슨 말을 더 하겠는가? 나의 영혼이 번민에 싸여 있으므로, 내가 잠을 이룰 수 없다

( But what can I say? He has spoken to me, and he himself has done this. I will walk humbly all my years because of this anguish of my soul.)

 

38:16 주님, 주님을 섬기고 살겠습니다 주님만 섬기겠습니다 저를 낫게 하여 주셔서, 다시 일어나게 하여 주십시오 이 아픔이 평안으로 바뀔 것입니다

( Lord, by such things men live; and my spirit finds life in them too. You restored me to health and let me live.)

 

38:17 주님께서 이 몸을 멸망의 구덩이에서 건져 주시고, 주님께서 저의 모든 죄를 용서하십니다

( Surely it was for my benefit that I suffered such anguish. In your love you kept me from the pit of destruction; you have put all my sins behind your back.)

 

38:18 스올에서는 아무도 주님께 감사드릴 수 없습니다 죽은 사람은 아무도 주님을 찬양할 수 없습니다 죽은 사람은 아무도 주님의 신실하심을 의지할 수 없습니다

( For the grave cannot praise you, death cannot sing your praise; those who go down to the pit cannot hope for your faithfulness.)

 

38:19 제가 오늘 주님을 찬양하듯, 오직 살아 있는 사람만이 주님을 찬양할 수 있습니다 부모들이 자녀들에게 주님의 신실하심을 일러줍니다

( The living, the living--they praise you, as I am doing today; fathers tell their children about your faithfulness.)

 

38:20 주님, 주님께서 저를 낫게 하셨습니다 우리가 수금을 뜯으며, 주님을 찬양하겠습니다 사는 날 동안, 우리가 주님의 성전에서 주님을 찬양하겠습니다

( The LORD will save me, and we will sing with stringed instruments all the days of our lives in the temple of the LORD.)

 

38:21 이사야가 왕에게 "무화과 빵을 가져다가 종기에 붙이시면 임금님께서 나으실 것입니다" 하고 말하였을 때에,

( Isaiah had said, "Prepare a poultice of figs and apply it to the boil, and he will recover.")

 

38:22 히스기야는 "내가 주님의 성전에 다시 올라갈 것이라는 증거가 무엇이오?" 하고 물었다

( Hezekiah had asked, "What will be the sign that I will go up to the temple of the LORD?")

이사야 39장

 

39:1 그 때에 발라단의 아들 바빌로니아 왕 므로닥발라단이, 히스기야가 병들었다가 나았다는 소식을 듣고서, 그에게 친서와 예물을 보내 왔다

( At that time Merodach-Baladan son of Baladan king of Babylon sent Hezekiah letters and a gift, because he had heard of his illness and recovery.)

 

39:2 히스기야는 그들을 반가이 맞아들이고, 보물 창고에 있는 은과 금과 향료와 향유와, 무기고와 창고 안에 있는 모든 것을, 다 보여 주었다 히스기야는 그들에게, 궁궐과 나라 안에 있는 것을 하나도 빠짐없이 다 보여 주었다

( Hezekiah received the envoys gladly and showed them what was in his storehouses--the silver, the gold, the spices, the fine oil, his entire armory and everything found among his treasures. There was nothing in his palace or in all his kingdom that Hezekiah did not show them.)

 

39:3 그 때에 예언자 이사야가 히스기야 왕에게 와서 물었다 "이 사람들이 무슨 말을 하였습니까? 이 사람들은 어디에서 온 사람들입니까?" 히스기야가 대답하였다 "그들은 저 먼 나라 바빌로니아에서 온 사람들이오"

( Then Isaiah the prophet went to King Hezekiah and asked, "What did those men say, and where did they come from?" "From a distant land," Hezekiah replied. "They came to me from Babylon.")

 

39:4 이사야가 또 물었다 "그들이 임금님의 궁궐에서 무엇을 보았습니까?" 히스기야가 대답하였다 "그들은 나의 궁궐 안에 있는 모든 것을 보았고, 나의 창고에 있는 것 가운데, 그들에게 보여 주지 않은 것이 하나도 없소"

( The prophet asked, "What did they see in your palace?" "They saw everything in my palace," Hezekiah said. "There is nothing among my treasures that I did not show them.")

 

39:5 이사야가 히스기야에게 말하였다 "만군의 주님의 말씀을 들으십시오

( Then Isaiah said to Hezekiah, "Hear the word of the LORD Almighty:)

 

39:6 그 날이 다가오고 있다 그 날이 오면, 너의 왕궁 안에 있는 모든 것과 오늘까지 너의 조상이 저장하여 놓은 모든 보물이, 남김없이 바빌론으로 옮겨 갈 것이다' 주님께서 또 말씀하십니다

( The time will surely come when everything in your palace, and all that your fathers have stored up until this day, will be carried off to Babylon. Nothing will be left, says the LORD.)

 

39:7 너에게서 태어날 아들 가운데서 더러는 포로로 끌려가서, 바빌론 왕궁의 환관이 될 것이다'"

( And some of your descendants, your own flesh and blood who will be born to you, will be taken away, and they will become eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon.")

 

39:8 히스기야가 이사야에게 말하였다 "그대가 전하여 준 주님의 말씀은 지당한 말씀이오" 히스기야는, 자기가 살아 있는 동안만이라도 평화와 안정이 계속되면 다행이라고 생각하였다

( "The word of the LORD you have spoken is good," Hezekiah replied. For he thought, "There will be peace and security in my lifetime.")
