이사야 44장

 

44:1 "그러나 나의 종 야곱아, 내가 택한 이스라엘아, 이제 너는 들어라"

( "But now listen, O Jacob, my servant, Israel, whom I have chosen.)

 

44:2 너를 지으신 분 네가 태어날 때부터 '내가 너를 도와주마' 하신 주님께서 말씀하신다 "나의 종, 야곱아, 내가 택한 여수룬아, 두려워하지 말아라

( This is what the LORD says--he who made you, who formed you in the womb, and who will help you: Do not be afraid, O Jacob, my servant, Jeshurun, whom I have chosen.)

 

44:3 내가 메마른 땅에 물을 주고 마른 땅에 시내가 흐르게 하듯이, 네 자손에게 내 영을 부어 주고, 네 후손에게 나의 복을 내리겠다

( For I will pour water on the thirsty land, and streams on the dry ground; I will pour out my Spirit on your offspring, and my blessing on your descendants.)

 

44:4 그들은 마치 시냇물 가의 버들처럼, 풀처럼 무성하게 자랄 것이다

( They will spring up like grass in a meadow, like poplar trees by flowing streams.)

 

44:5 그 때에는 '나는 주님의 것이다' 하고 말하는 사람도 있고, '야곱'의 이름을 써서 그의 자손임을 자칭하는 사람도 있을 것이며, 팔에다가 '나는 주님의 것'이라고 쓰는 사람도 있을 것이며, '이스라엘 사람'이라고 불리는 것을 영광으로 여기는 사람도 있을 것이다"

( One will say, 'I belong to the LORD'; another will call himself by the name of Jacob; still another will write on his hand, 'The LORD'S,' and will take the name Israel.)

 

44:6 이스라엘의 왕이신 주, 이스라엘의 속량자이신 만군의 주님께서 말씀하신다 "나는 시작이요, 마감이다 나 밖에 다른 신이 없다

( "This is what the LORD says--Israel's King and Redeemer, the LORD Almighty: I am the first and I am the last; apart from me there is no God.)

 

44:7 누가 나처럼 선언할 수 있으며, 미래를 예고할 수 있느냐? 나를 누구와 견줄 수 있느냐? 만일 있다면, 내가 옛날 사람들에게 미래를 예고했듯이, 그들에게 다가올 일들을 미리 말하여 보라고 하여라

( Who then is like me? Let him proclaim it. Let him declare and lay out before me what has happened since I established my ancient people, and what is yet to come--yes, let him foretell what will come.)

 

44:8 너희는 떨지 말아라 겁내지 말아라 내가 예전부터 너희에게 이미 예고하여 주지 않았느냐? 나는 예고하였고, 너희는 이것을 증언할 나의 증인들이다 나 밖에 다른 신이 또 있느냐? 다른 반석은 없다 내가 전혀 아는 바 없다"

( Do not tremble, do not be afraid. Did I not proclaim this and foretell it long ago? You are my witnesses. Is there any God besides me? No, there is no other Rock; I know not one.")

 

44:9 우상을 만드는 자들은 모두 허망한 자들이다 그들이 좋아하는 우상은 아무 쓸모가 없는 것들이다 이런 우상을 신이라고 증언하는 자들은 눈이 먼 자들이요, 무지한 자들이니, 마침내 수치만 당할 뿐이다

( All who make idols are nothing, and the things they treasure are worthless. Those who would speak up for them are blind; they are ignorant, to their own shame.)

 

44:10 아무런 유익도 없는 신상을 만들고 무익한 우상을 부어 만드는 자가 누구냐?

( Who shapes a god and casts an idol, which can profit him nothing?)

 

44:11 그런 무리는 모두 수치를 당할 것이다 대장장이들은 사람일 뿐이다 그들을 모두 불러모아 법정에 세워라 그들은 두려워 떨며, 수치만 당할 것이다

( He and his kind will be put to shame; craftsmen are nothing but men. Let them all come together and take their stand; they will be brought down to terror and infamy.)

 

44:12 철공은 그의 힘센 팔로 연장을 벼리고, 숯불에 달구어 메로 쳐서, 모양을 만든다 이렇게 일을 하고 나면, 별 수 없이 시장하여 힘이 빠진다 물을 마시지 않으면, 갈증으로 지친다

( The blacksmith takes a tool and works with it in the coals; he shapes an idol with hammers, he forges it with the might of his arm. He gets hungry and loses his strength; he drinks no water and grows faint.)

 

44:13 목공은 줄을 늘여 나무를 재고, 석필로 줄을 긋고, 대패질을 하고, 걸음쇠로 줄을 긋는다 그렇게 해서 사람의 아름다운 모습을 따라, 우상을 만들어 신전에 놓는다

( The carpenter measures with a line and makes an outline with a marker; he roughs it out with chisels and marks it with compasses. He shapes it in the form of man, of man in all his glory, that it may dwell in a shrine.)

 

44:14 그는, 용도에 따라 숲에서 백향목을 찍어 오기도 하고, 삼나무와 상수리나무를 베어 오기도 한다 그러나 그 나무들은 저절로 튼튼하게 자란 것이지, 그들이 키운 것이 아니다 하늘에서 내리는 비를 머금고 자라는 것이지, 그들이 자라게 하는 것이 아니다

( He cut down cedars, or perhaps took a cypress or oak. He let it grow among the trees of the forest, or planted a pine, and the rain made it grow.)

 

44:15 이 나무는 사람들에게 땔감에 지나지 않는다 목공 자신도 그것으로 몸을 따스하게 하고, 불을 피워 빵을 굽기도 한다 그런데 그것으로 신상을 만들어서 그것에게 절하며, 그것으로 우상을 만들어서 그 앞에 엎드린다!

( It is man's fuel for burning; some of it he takes and warms himself, he kindles a fire and bakes bread. But he also fashions a god and worships it; he makes an idol and bows down to it.)

 

44:16 우상을 만드는 것과 꼭 같은 나무 반 토막으로는 불을 피우고, 그 불덩이 위에 고기를 구워 먹고, 그것으로 배를 불리며, 또 몸을 따스하게 하며 '아, 불을 보니 따뜻하다' 하고 말한다

( Half of the wood he burns in the fire; over it he prepares his meal, he roasts his meat and eats his fill. He also warms himself and says, "Ah! I am warm; I see the fire.")

 

44:17 불을 때고 남은 토막으로는 신상 곧 우상을 만들고, 그 앞에 엎드려 숭배하고, 그것에게 기도하며 '나의 신이여, 나를 구원하여 주십시오' 하고 빈다

( From the rest he makes a god, his idol; he bows down to it and worships. He prays to it and says, "Save me; you are my god.")

 

44:18 백성이 알지도 못하고 깨닫지도 못하는 것은 그들의 눈이 가려져서 볼 수 없기 때문이며, 마음이 어두워져서 깨달을 수 없기 때문이다

( They know nothing, they understand nothing; their eyes are plastered over so they cannot see, and their minds closed so they cannot understand.)

 

44:19 그런 사람에게는 생각도 없고 지식도 없고 총명도 없다 고작 한다는 말이 '내가 그 나무의 반 토막으로는 불을 피워, 그 불덩이 위에 빵을 굽고 고기를 구워 먹었지 불을 때고 남은 나무로는 가증한 우상을 만들었지 이제 나는 그 나무 토막 앞에 절한다' 하는구나

( No one stops to think, no one has the knowledge or understanding to say, "Half of it I used for fuel; I even baked bread over its coals, I roasted meat and I ate. Shall I make a detestable thing from what is left? Shall I bow down to a block of wood?")

 

44:20 타고 남은 재로나 배를 채우려는 자들, 그들은 어리석은 마음에 미혹되어서, 도움마저 받지 못한다 손에 쥐고 있는 우상이 참 신이 아니라는 것을 받아들이려 하지 않는다

( He feeds on ashes, a deluded heart misleads him; he cannot save himself, or say, "Is not this thing in my right hand a lie?")

 

44:21 "야곱아, 이런 일들을 기억하여 두어라 이스라엘아, 너는 나의 종이다 내가 너를 지었다 너는 나의 종이다 이스라엘아, 내가 너를 절대로 잊지 않겠다

( "Remember these things, O Jacob, for you are my servant, O Israel. I have made you, you are my servant; O Israel, I will not forget you.)

 

44:22 내가 너의 죄를, 짙은 구름을 거두듯 없애 버렸으며, 너의 죄를 안개처럼 사라지게 하였으니, 나에게로 돌아오너라 내가 너를 구원하였다"

( I have swept away your offenses like a cloud, your sins like the morning mist. Return to me, for I have redeemed you.")

 

44:23 주님께서 이런 일을 하셨으니, 하늘아, 기쁘게 노래하여라 땅의 깊은 곳들아, 함성을 올려라 산들아, 숲아, 그리고 그 속에 있는 모든 나무들아, 소리를 높여 노래하여라 주님께서 야곱을 구원하심으로써, 주님께서 이스라엘을 구원하심으로써, 영광을 나타내셨다

( Sing for joy, O heavens, for the LORD has done this; shout aloud, O earth beneath. Burst into song, you mountains, you forests and all your trees, for the LORD has redeemed Jacob, he displays his glory in Israel.)

 

44:24 너의 구원자, 너를 모태에서 만드신 주님께서 말씀하신다 "내가 바로 만물을 창조한 주다 나와 함께 한 이가 없이, 나 혼자서 하늘을 폈으며, 땅도 나 홀로 넓혔다"

( "This is what the LORD says--your Redeemer, who formed you in the womb: I am the LORD, who has made all things, who alone stretched out the heavens, who spread out the earth by myself,)

 

44:25 하나님께서는 거짓말하는 자들의 징조를 쓸모 없게 하시며, 점쟁이들을 혼란스럽게 만드시며, 지혜로운 자들을 물리쳐서 그들의 지식을 어리석게 하신다

( who foils the signs of false prophets and makes fools of diviners, who overthrows the learning of the wise and turns it into nonsense,)

 

44:26 하나님께서는 당신의 종이 한 말을 이루어지게 하시며, 당신의 사자들이 계획한 것을 이루어지게 하시며, 예루살렘을 보시고는 '여기에 사람이 살 것이다' 하시며, 유다의 성읍들을 보시고는 '이 성읍들이 재건될 것이다 내가 그 허물어진 곳들을 다시 세우겠다' 하신다

( who carries out the words of his servants and fulfills the predictions of his messengers, who says of Jerusalem, 'It shall be inhabited,' of the towns of Judah, 'They shall be built,' and of their ruins, 'I will restore them,')

 

44:27 하나님께서는 깊은 물을 보시고는 '말라라 내가 너의 강물을 모두 마르게 하겠다' 하시며,

( who says to the watery deep, 'Be dry, and I will dry up your streams,')

 

44:28 고레스를 보시고는 '너는 내가 세운 목자다 나의 뜻을 모두 네가 이룰 것이다' 하시며, 예루살렘을 보시고는 '네가 재건될 것이다' 하시며, 성전을 보시고는 '너의 기초가 놓일 것이다' 하신다

( who says of Cyrus, 'He is my shepherd and will accomplish all that I please; he will say of Jerusalem, "Let it be rebuilt," and of the temple, "Let its foundations be laid." ')

이사야 45장

 

45:1 "나 주가 기름 부어 세운 고레스에게 말한다 내가 너의 오른손을 굳게 잡아, 열방을 네 앞에 굴복시키고, 왕들의 허리띠를 풀어 놓겠다 네가 가는 곳마다 한 번 열린 성문은 닫히지 않게 하겠다 고레스는 들어라!

( "This is what the LORD says to his anointed, to Cyrus, whose right hand I take hold of to subdue nations before him and to strip kings of their armor, to open doors before him so that gates will not be shut:)

 

45:2 내가 너보다 앞서 가서 산들을 평지로 만들고, 놋쇠 성문을 부수며, 쇠빗장을 부러뜨리겠다

( I will go before you and will level the mountains; I will break down gates of bronze and cut through bars of iron.)

 

45:3 안보이는 곳에 간직된 보화와 감추어 둔 보물을 너에게 주겠다 그 때에 너는, 내가 주인 줄을 알게 될 것이고, 이스라엘의 하나님이 너를 지명하여 불렀다는 것을 알게 될 것이다

( I will give you the treasures of darkness, riches stored in secret places, so that you may know that I am the LORD, the God of Israel, who summons you by name.)

 

45:4 내가 너를 지명하여 부른 것은, 나의 종 야곱, 내가 택한 이스라엘을 도우려고 함이었다 네가 비록 나를 알지 못하였으나, 내가 너에게 영예로운 이름을 준 까닭이 바로 여기에 있다

( For the sake of Jacob my servant, of Israel my chosen, I summon you by name and bestow on you a title of honor, though you do not acknowledge me.)

 

45:5 나는 주다 나 밖에 다른 이가 없다 나 밖에 다른 신은 없다 네가 비록 나를 알지 못하였으나, 나는 너에게 필요한 능력을 주겠다

( I am the LORD, and there is no other; apart from me there is no God. I will strengthen you, though you have not acknowledged me,)

 

45:6 그렇게 해서, 해가 뜨는 곳에서나, 해가 지는 곳에서나, 나 밖에 다른 신이 없음을 사람들이 알게 하겠다 나는 주다 나 밖에는 다른 이가 없다

( so that from the rising of the sun to the place of its setting men may know there is none besides me. I am the LORD, and there is no other.)

 

45:7 나는 빛도 만들고 어둠도 창조하며, 평안도 주고 재앙도 일으킨다 나 주가 이 모든 일을 한다"

( I form the light and create darkness, I bring prosperity and create disaster; I, the LORD, do all these things.)

 

45:8 너 하늘아, 위에서부터 의를 내리되, 비처럼 쏟아지게 하여라 너 창공아, 의를 부어 내려라 땅아, 너는 열려서, 구원이 싹나게 하고, 공의가 움돋게 하여라 "나 주가 이 모든 것을 창조하였다"

( "You heavens above, rain down righteousness; let the clouds shower it down. Let the earth open wide, let salvation spring up, let righteousness grow with it; I, the LORD, have created it.)

 

45:9 질그릇 가운데서도 작은 한 조각에 지나지 않으면서, 자기를 지은 이와 다투는 자에게는 화가 닥칠 것이다 진흙이 토기장이에게 '너는 도대체 무엇을 만들고 있는 거냐?' 하고 말할 수 있겠으며, 네가 만든 것이 너에게 '그에게는 손이 있으나마나다!' 하고 말할 수 있겠느냐?

( "Woe to him who quarrels with his Maker, to him who is but a potsherd among the potsherds on the ground. Does the clay say to the potter, 'What are you making?' Does your work say, 'He has no hands'?)

 

45:10 아버지에게 말하기를 '나를 자식이라고 낳았습니까?' 하는 자와, 자기 어머니에게 '무슨 해산의 고생을 했다는 겁니까?' 하고 말하는 자식에게 화가 닥칠 것이다

( Woe to him who says to his father, 'What have you begotten?' or to his mother, 'What have you brought to birth?')

 

45:11 이스라엘의 거룩하신 하나님 곧 이스라엘을 지으신 주님께서 말씀하신다 "내가 낳은 자녀를 두고, 너희가 나에게 감히 물으려느냐? 내가 한 일을 너희가 나에게 감히 명령하려느냐?

( "This is what the LORD says--the Holy One of Israel, and its Maker: Concerning things to come, do you question me about my children, or give me orders about the work of my hands?)

 

45:12 바로 내가 친히 이 땅을 만들었으며, 바로 내가 그 위에 인류를 창조하였다 내가 손수 하늘을 폈으며, 그 모든 별에게 명령을 내렸다

( It is I who made the earth and created mankind upon it. My own hands stretched out the heavens; I marshaled their starry hosts.)

 

45:13 바로 내가 그를 의의 도구로 일으켰으니, 그의 모든 길을 평탄하게 하겠다 그가 나의 도성을 재건하고, 포로된 나의 백성을 대가도 없이, 보상도 받지 않고, 놓아 줄 것이다" 만군의 주님이 하신 말씀이다

( I will raise up Cyrus in my righteousness: I will make all his ways straight. He will rebuild my city and set my exiles free, but not for a price or reward, says the LORD Almighty.")

 

45:14 주님께서 말씀하신다 "이집트가 수고하여 얻은 재물과 에티오피아가 장사하여 얻은 이익이 너에게로 넘어오고, 키 큰 쓰바 사람들이 너에게로 건너와서 네 밑으로 들어와 너를 따를 것이며, 사슬에 매여 와서 네 앞에 엎드리고, 너에게 기도하는 것처럼 이르기를 '과연 하나님께서 당신과 함께 계십니다 그 밖에 다른 이가 없습니다 다른 신은 없습니다' 할 것이다"

( This is what the LORD says: "The products of Egypt and the merchandise of Cush, and those tall Sabeans--they will come over to you and will be yours; they will trudge behind you, coming over to you in chains. They will bow down before you and plead with you, saying, 'Surely God is with you, and there is no other; there is no other god.'")

 

45:15 구원자이신 이스라엘의 하나님, 진실로 주님께서는 자신을 숨기시는 하나님이십니다

( Truly you are a God who hides himself, O God and Savior of Israel.)

 

45:16 우상을 만드는 자들은 모두 한결같이 부끄러움을 당하고, 창피한 일을 당할 것이며, 치욕으로 물러갈 것입니다

( All the makers of idols will be put to shame and disgraced; they will go off into disgrace together.)

 

45:17 그러나 이스라엘은 주님 안에서 안전할 것입니다 이스라엘의 구원은 영원할 것입니다 너희 이스라엘아, 너희가 영원토록 부끄러움을 당하지 않고, 창피한 일을 당하지 않을 것이다

( But Israel will be saved by the LORD with an everlasting salvation; you will never be put to shame or disgraced, to ages everlasting.)

 

45:18 하늘을 창조하신 주, 땅을 창조하시고 조성하신 하나님, 땅을 견고하게 하신 분이 말씀하신다 그분은 땅을 혼돈 상태로 창조하신 것이 아니라, 사람이 살 수 있게 만드신 분이다 "나는 주다 나 밖에 다른 신은 없다

( For this is what the LORD says--he who created the heavens, he is God; he who fashioned and made the earth, he founded it; he did not create it to be empty, but formed it to be inhabited--he says: "I am the LORD, and there is no other.)

 

45:19 나는 어두운 곳에서 은밀하게 말하지 않았으며, 야곱의 자손에게 '나를 허무하게 찾아라' 하지도 않았다 나 주는 옳은 것을 말하고, 바른 것을 알린다"

( I have not spoken in secret, from somewhere in a land of darkness; I have not said to Jacob's descendants, 'Seek me in vain.' I, the LORD, speak the truth; I declare what is right.)

 

45:20 이방 나라에서 살아 남은 자들아, 모여 오너라 다 함께 가까이 오너라 "나무 우상을 들고 다니는 자들과, 구원하지도 못하는 신에게 기도하는 자들은, 무지한 자들이다

( "Gather together and come; assemble, you fugitives from the nations. Ignorant are those who carry about idols of wood, who pray to gods that cannot save.)

 

45:21 너희는 앞 일을 말하고 진술하여 보아라 함께 의논하여 보아라 누가 예로부터 이 일을 들려주었으며, 누가 이전부터 이 일을 알려 주었느냐? 나 주가 아니고 누구냐? 나 밖에 다른 신은 없다 나는 공의와 구원을 베푸는 하나님이니, 나 밖에 다른 신은 없다"

( Declare what is to be, present it--let them take counsel together. Who foretold this long ago, who declared it from the distant past? Was it not I, the LORD? And there is no God apart from me, a righteous God and a Savior; there is none but me.)

 

45:22 땅 끝까지 흩어져 있는 사람들아! 모두 나에게 돌아와서 구원을 받아라 "내가 하나님이며, 나 밖에 다른 신은 없기 때문이다

( "Turn to me and be saved, all you ends of the earth; for I am God, and there is no other.)

 

45:23 내가 나를 두고 맹세한다 나의 입에서 공의로운 말이 나갔으니, 그 말이 거저 되돌아오지는 않는다" 모두가 내 앞에 무릎을 꿇을 것이다 모두들 나에게 충성을 맹세할 것이다

( By myself I have sworn, my mouth has uttered in all integrity a word that will not be revoked: Before me every knee will bow; by me every tongue will swear.)

 

45:24 참으로 주님께만 공의와 능력이 있다'고 사람들이 나에게 고백할 것이다 사람들이 그에게 올 것이나, 그에게 대항하던 자들은 모두 부끄러움을 당할 것이다

( They will say of me, 'In the LORD alone are righteousness and strength.'" All who have raged against him will come to him and be put to shame.)

 

45:25 그러나 이스라엘 자손은 모두 주 안에서 의롭다는 인정을 받고, 영예를 얻을 것이다

( But in the LORD all the descendants of Israel will be found righteous and will exult.)

이사야 46장

 

46:1 벨 신이 고꾸라졌고, 느보 신이 넘어졌다 짐승과 가축이 그 우상들을 싣고 간다 힘겹게 떠메고 다니던 것들이, 피곤한 짐승에게 무거운 짐이 되었다

( Bel bows down, Nebo stoops low; their idols are borne by beasts of burden. The images that are carried about are burdensome, a burden for the weary.)

 

46:2 우상들은 한꺼번에 넘어지고 고꾸라졌다 우상들은 자기들을 싣고 가는 자들에게서 도망쳐 나오지도 못한다 오히려 우상들은 포로가 되어 잡혀 간다

( They stoop and bow down together; unable to rescue the burden, they themselves go off into captivity.)

 

46:3 "야곱의 집안아, 이스라엘 집안의 모든 남은 자들아, 내 말을 들어라 너희가 태어날 때부터 내가 너희를 안고 다녔고, 너희가 모태에서 나올 때부터 내가 너희를 품고 다녔다

( "Listen to me, O house of Jacob, all you who remain of the house of Israel, you whom I have upheld since you were conceived, an have carried since your birth.)

 

46:4 너희가 늙을 때까지 내가 너희를 안고 다니고, 너희가 백발이 될 때까지 내가 너희를 품고 다니겠다 내가 너희를 지었으니, 내가 너희를 품고 다니겠고, 안고 다니겠고, 또 구원하여 주겠다

( Even to your old age and gray hairs I am he, I am he who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue you.)

 

46:5 너희가 나를 누구와 견주겠으며, 나를 누구와 같다고 하겠느냐? 나를 누구와 비교하여 '서로 같다' 하겠느냐?

( "To whom will you compare me or count me equal? To whom will you liken me that we may be compared?)

 

46:6 사람들이 주머니에서 금을 쏟아내며, 은을 저울에 달고, 도금장이들을 사서 신상을 만들게 하고, 그것에게 엎드려 경배한다

( Some pour out gold from their bags and weigh out silver on the scales; they hire a goldsmith to make it into a god, and they bow down and worship it.)

 

46:7 사람들이 우상을 어깨에 메고, 우상을 둘 자리에 내려놓으면, 우상은 내려놓은 그 곳에 서서 꼼짝도 하지 못한다 사람들이 그것에게 부르짖어도 전혀 응답하지 못하며, 고난당하는 사람을 구원하지도 못한다

( They lift it to their shoulders and carry it; they set it up in its place, and there it stands. From that spot it cannot move. Though one cries out to it, it does not answer; it cannot save him from his troubles.)

 

46:8 너희 죄인들아, 이것을 기억하여라 그리고 확고하게 서라 너희 반역한 죄인들아, 이 일을 가슴 깊이 간직하여라

( "Remember this, fix it in mind, take it to heart, you rebels.)

 

46:9 너희는 태초부터 이루어진 일들을 기억하여라 나는 하나님이다 나 밖에 다른 신은 없다 나는 하나님이다 나와 같은 이는 없다

( Remember the former things, those of long ago; I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me.)

 

46:10 처음부터 내가 장차 일어날 일들을 예고하였고, 내가, 이미 오래 전에, 아직 이루어지지 않은 일들을 미리 알렸다 '나의 뜻이 반드시 성취될 것이며, 내가 하고자 하는 것은 내가 반드시 이룬다'고 말하였다

( I make known the end from the beginning, from ancient times, what is still to come. I say: My purpose will stand, and I will do all that I please.)

 

46:11 내가 동방에서 독수리를 부르고, 먼 나라에서 나의 뜻을 이룰 사람을 불렀다 내가 말하였으니, 내가 그것을 곧 이루겠으며, 내가 계획하였으니, 내가 곧 그것을 성취하겠다

( From the east I summon a bird of prey; from a far-off land, a man to fulfill my purpose. What I have said, that will I bring about; what I have planned, that will I do.)

 

46:12 내가 승리할 것을 믿지 않는 너희 고집 센 백성아, 내가 하는 말을 들어라

( Listen to me, you stubborn-hearted, you who are far from righteousness.)

 

46:13 내가 싸워서 이길 날이 가까이 왔다 그 날이 멀지 않다 내가 이기는 그 날은 지체되지 않는다 내가 시온을 구원하고, 이스라엘 안에서 나의 영광을 나타내겠다"

( I am bringing my righteousness near, it is not far away; and my salvation will not be delayed. I will grant salvation to Zion, my splendor to Israel.)

이사야 47장

 

47:1 "처녀 딸 바빌론아, 내려와서 티끌에 앉아라 딸 바빌로니아야, 보좌를 잃었으니, 땅에 주저앉아라 너의 몸매가 유연하고 맵시가 있다고들 하였지만, 이제는 아무도 그런 말을 하지 않을 것이다

( "Go down, sit in the dust, Virgin Daughter of Babylon; sit on the ground without a throne, Daughter of the Babylonians. No more will you be called tender or delicate.)

 

47:2 맷돌을 잡고 가루를 빻아라 얼굴을 가린 너울을 벗고, 치마를 걷어 올려 다리를 드러내고 강을 건너라

( Take millstones and grind flour; take off your veil. Lift up your skirts, bare your legs, and wade through the streams.)

 

47:3 알몸을 드러내고, 네 부끄러운 곳까지도 드러내 보여라 내가 복수할 터이니, 어느 누구도 나를 막지 못할 것이다"

( Your nakedness will be exposed and your shame uncovered. I will take vengeance; I will spare no one.")

 

47:4 우리의 속량자는 그 이름이 만군의 주님, 이스라엘의 거룩하신 하나님이시다

( Our Redeemer--the LORD Almighty is his name--is the Holy One of Israel.)

 

47:5 "딸 바빌로니아야, 잠잠히 앉아 있다가 어둠 속으로 사라져라 사람들이 이제부터는 너를 민족들의 여왕이라고 부르지 않을 것이다

( "Sit in silence, go into darkness, Daughter of the Babylonians; no more will you be called queen of kingdoms.)

 

47:6 전에 내가 나의 백성에게 진노하여, 나의 소유, 나의 백성이 곤욕을 치르게 하고, 그들을 네 손에 넘겼다 그런데 네가 나의 백성을 가엾게 여기지 아니하고, 노인에게도 무거운 멍에를 메웠다

( I was angry with my people and desecrated my inheritance; I gave them into your hand, and you showed them no mercy. Even on the aged you laid a very heavy yoke.)

 

47:7 너는 언제까지나 네가 여왕으로 군림할 것이라고 믿고, 이런 일들을 네 마음에 두지도 않았으며, 이후에 일어날 일은 생각조차 하지 않았다

( You said, 'I will continue forever--the eternal queen!' But you did not consider these things or reflect on what might happen.)

 

47:8 그러나, 방탕한 여인아, 이제 너는 이 말을 들어 보아라 네가 평안히 앉아서 마음 속으로 이르기를 '나보다 더 높은 이가 없다 나는 과부가 되지 않을 것이며, 자식을 잃는 일도 없을 것이다' 하였지만,

( "Now then, listen, you wanton creature, lounging in your security and saying to yourself, 'I am, and there is none besides me. I will never be a widow or suffer the loss of children.')

 

47:9 자식을 잃고 과부가 되는 이 두 가지 일이 한 날에 갑자기 닥쳐올 것이다 너의 주술이 아무리 능하고 너의 마술의 힘이 아무리 세다 하여도, 이 일이 너에게 반드시 닥친다

( Both of these will overtake you in a moment, on a single day: loss of children and widowhood. They will come upon you in full measure, in spite of your many sorceries and all your potent spells.)

 

47:10 네가 악한 일에 자신만만 하여 '아무도 나를 감시하지 않는다' 하였다 너의 지혜와 너의 지식이 너를 잘못된 길로 들어서게 하였고, 너의 마음 속으로 '나보다 더 높은 이가 없다'고 생각하게 하였다

( You have trusted in your wickedness and have said, 'No one sees me.' Your wisdom and knowledge mislead you when you say to yourself, 'I am, and there is none besides me.')

 

47:11 불행이 너에게 닥쳐와도 너의 점술이 그것을 막지 못할 것이며, 너에게 재난이 덮쳐도 네가 거기에서 벗어나지 못할 것이다 네가 생각하지도 못한 파멸이, 순식간에 너에게 이를 것이다

( Disaster will come upon you, and you will not know how to conjure it away. A calamity will fall upon you that you cannot ward off with a ransom; a catastrophe you cannot foresee will suddenly come upon you.)

 

47:12 자, 네가 젊어서부터 부리던 마술과 여러 가지 주술을 가지고 버티어 보아라 혹시 그것들이 너에게 도움이 될지도 모르고, 아니면 너의 대적들이 그것을 보고, 너를 두려워할지도 모르지 않느냐!

( "Keep on, then, with your magic spells and with your many sorceries, which you have labored at since childhood. Perhaps you will succeed, perhaps you will cause terror.)

 

47:13 너는 오히려 너의 많은 조언자들 때문에 지쳤다 자, 하늘을 살핀다는 자들, 별을 보고서 점친다는 자들, 매달 초하루마다 너에게 닥쳐올 일을 알려 준다는 자들, 그들을 일으켜서 너를 구원하라고 하여라

( All the counsel you have received has only worn you out! Let your astrologers come forward, those stargazers who make predictions month by month, let them save you from what is coming upon you.)

 

47:14 보아라, 그들은 검불같이 되어서, 불에 타고 말 것이다 그 불은 빵이나 굽는 숯불이 아니고, 손이나 따뜻하게 하는 화롯불도 아니다 그 불은 너무나도 뜨거워서, 그들 스스로를 그 불에서 구하여 내지 못할 것이다

( Surely they are like stubble; the fire will burn them up. They cannot even save themselves from the power of the flame. Here are no coals to warm anyone; here is no fire to sit by.)

 

47:15 바로 네가 애써서 공들였던 자들이 너에게 이렇게 되며, 네가 젊었을 때부터 너와 거래하던 자들도 각자 뿔뿔이 도망 칠 것이니, 너를 구원할 자가 없을 것이다"

( That is all they can do for you--these you have labored with and trafficked with since childhood. Each of them goes on in his error; there is not one that can save you.)

이사야 48장

 

48:1 야곱의 집안아, 이스라엘이라 일컬음을 받는 유다의 자손아, 주님의 이름을 두고 맹세를 하고 이스라엘의 하나님을 섬긴다고는 하지만, 진실이나 공의라고는 전혀 없는 자들아, 이 말을 들어라

( "Listen to this, O house of Jacob, you who are called by the name of Israel and come from the line of Judah, you who take oaths in the name of the LORD and invoke the God of Israel--but not in truth or righteousness--)

 

48:2 스스로 거룩한 성읍 백성이라고 자처하는 자들아, 그의 이름 만군의 주 이스라엘의 하나님을 의지한다고 자랑하는 자들아, 너희는 이 말을 들어라

( you who call yourselves citizens of the holy city and rely on the God of Israel--the LORD Almighty is his name:)

 

48:3 "내가, 이미 옛적에, 장차 일어날 일들을 알려 주었다 내가 직접 나의 입으로 그것을 예고하였고, 내가 그것을 직접 들려주었으며, 그 일을 내가 홀연히 이루었다

( I foretold the former things long ago, my mouth announced them and I made them known; then suddenly I acted, and they came to pass.)

 

48:4 내가 알기에, 너는 완고하다 네 목 힘줄은 쇠붙이요, 네 이마는 놋쇠나 다름없다

( For I knew how stubborn you were; the sinews of your neck were iron, your forehead was bronze.)

 

48:5 옛적부터 내가 네게 알리고, 아직 그 일이 일어나기도 전에 네게 들려준 까닭은, 네가 '내 우상이 이 일을 이루었으며, 내가 조각한 신상과 부어 만든 신상이 이 일을 명령한 것이다' 하고 말하지 못하게 하려는 것이었다

( Therefore I told you these things long ago; before they happened I announced them to you so that you could not say, 'My idols did them; my wooden image and metal god ordained them.')

 

48:6 네가 이미 들었으니, 이 모든 것을 똑똑히 보아라 네가 인정하지 않겠느냐? 이제 내가 곧 일어날 새 일을 네게 알려 줄 터이니, 이것은 내가 네게 알려 주지 않은 은밀한 일이다

( You have heard these things; look at them all. Will you not admit them? "From now on I will tell you of new things, of hidden things unknown to you.)

 

48:7 이것은 이제 내가 창조한 일이다 옛적에 일어난 것과는 다르다 지금까지 네가 들어 본 일이 없는 일이다 네가 전에 이것을 들었더라면 '아, 바로 그 일, 내가 이미 알고 있었다!' 하고 말할 수 있겠지만, 이번 일만은 그렇지 않다

( They are created now, and not long ago; you have not heard of them before today. So you cannot say, 'Yes, I knew of them.')

 

48:8 나는 알고 있었다 네가 성실하지 못할 것임을 잘 알고 있었다 네가 모태에서부터 반역자라고 불러 마땅한 자로 태어날 것을 나는 알고 있었다 그러기에 내가 너를, 듣지도 못하게 하였고, 알지도 못하게 하였으며, 옛적부터 네 귀가 트이지도 못하게 한 것이다

( You have neither heard nor understood; from of old your ear has not been open. Well do I know how treacherous you are; you were called a rebel from birth.)

 

48:9 내 이름 때문에 내가 분노를 참고, 내 영예 때문에 내가 자제하여, 너를 파멸하지 않겠다

( For my own name's sake I delay my wrath; for the sake of my praise I hold it back from you, so as not to cut you off.)

 

48:10 보아라, 내가 너를 단련시켰으나, 은처럼 정련하지 않고, 오히려 고난의 풀무질로 달구어 너를 시험하였다

( See, I have refined you, though not as silver; I have tested you in the furnace of affliction.)

 

48:11 나를 위하여, 바로 나를 위하여 내가 그렇게 하는 것이다 어찌 내 이름을 욕되게 하겠느냐? 내 영광이 남에게 돌아가게 할 수는 없다

( For my own sake, for my own sake, I do this. How can I let myself be defamed? I will not yield my glory to another.)

 

48:12 야곱아, 내가 불러낸 이스라엘아, 내가 하는 말을 들어라 내가 바로 그다 내가 곧 시작이요 마감이다

( "Listen to me, O Jacob, Israel, whom I have called: I am he; I am the first and I am the last.)

 

48:13 내 손으로 땅의 기초를 놓았고, 내 오른손으로 하늘을 폈다 내가 하늘과 땅을 부르기만 하면, 하늘과 땅이 하나같이 내 앞에 나와 선다"

( My own hand laid the foundations of the earth, and my right hand spread out the heavens; when I summon them, they all stand up together.)

 

48:14 너희는 모두 함께 모여서 들어 보아라 우상들 가운데서 누가 이런 일들을 알려 준 일이 있었느냐? 주님께서 그를 사랑하시니, 그가 바빌론을 공격하여 주님의 뜻을 이루어 드리고, 그의 능력을 바빌로니아 사람 앞에서 드러낼 것이다

( "Come together, all of you, and listen: Which of the idols has foretold these things? The LORD'S chosen ally will carry out his purpose against Babylon; his arm will be against the Babylonians.)

 

48:15 "내가 말하였고, 내가 그를 불러냈다 내가 그를 오게 하였으니, 내가 그 길을 형통하게 하겠다

( I, even I, have spoken; yes, I have called him. I will bring him, and he will succeed in his mission.)

 

48:16 너희는 나에게 가까이 와서, 이 말을 들어라 처음부터 나는 은밀하게 말하지 않았다 이 일이 생길 때부터 내가 거기에 있었다" 이제 주 하나님께서 나를 보내셨고 그분의 영도 함께 보내셨다

( "Come near me and listen to this: "From the first announcement I have not spoken in secret; at the time it happens, I am there." And now the Sovereign LORD has sent me, with his Spirit.)

 

백성을 보살피시는 하나님의 계획

 

48:17 주, 너의 속량자, '이스라엘의 거룩하신 분'께서 이르시기를 '나는 주, 네 하나님이다 네게 유익하도록 너를 가르치며, 네가 마땅히 걸어야 할 길로 너를 인도하는 하나님이다' 하셨다

( This is what the LORD says--your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: "I am the LORD your God, who teaches you what is best for you, who directs you in the way you should go.)

 

48:18 "네가 나의 명령에 귀를 기울이기만 하였어도, 네 평화가 강같이 흐르고, 네 공의가 바다의 파도같이 넘쳤을 것이다

( If only you had paid attention to my commands, your peace would have been like a river, your righteousness like the waves of the sea.)

 

48:19 네 자손이 모래처럼 많았을 것이며, 네 몸에서 태어난 자손도 모래알처럼 많았을 것이며, 그 이름이 절대로 내 앞에서 끊어지거나, 없어지지 않았을 것이다"

( Your descendants would have been like the sand, your children like its numberless grains; their name would never be cut off nor destroyed from before me.")

 

48:20 너희는 바빌론에서 나오너라 바빌로니아 사람들에게서 도망하여라 그리고 '주님께서 그의 종 야곱을 속량하셨다' 하고, 즐겁게 소리를 높여서 알려라 이 소식이 땅 끝까지 미치도록 들려주어라

( Leave Babylon, flee from the Babylonians! Announce this with shouts of joy and proclaim it. Send it out to the ends of the earth; say, "The LORD has redeemed his servant Jacob.")

 

48:21 주님께서 그들을 사막으로 인도하셨으나, 그들이 전혀 목마르지 않았다 주님께서는 바위에서 물을 내셔서 그들로 마시게 하셨고, 바위를 쪼개셔서 물이 솟아나게 하셨다

( They did not thirst when he led them through the deserts; he made water flow for them from the rock; he split the rock and water gushed out.)

 

48:22 주님께서 말씀하신다 "악인들에게는 평화가 없다"

( "There is no peace," says the LORD, "for the wicked.")
