혼인에 관련된 문제들

 

7:1 여러분이 적어 보낸 문제를 두고 말하겠습니다 남자는 여자를 가까이하지 않는 것이 좋습니다

( Now for the matters you wrote about: It is good for a man not to marry.)

 

7:2 그러나 음행에 빠질 유혹 때문에, 남자는 저마다 자기 아내를 두고, 여자도 저마다 자기 남편을 두도록 하십시오

( But since there is so much immorality, each man should have his own wife, and each woman her own husband.)

 

7:3 남편은 아내에게 남편으로서의 의무를 다하고, 아내도 그와 같이 남편에게 아내로서의 의무를 다하도록 하십시오

( The husband should fulfill his marital duty to his wife, and likewise the wife to her husband.)

 

7:4 아내가 자기 몸을 마음대로 주장하지 못하고, 남편이 주장합니다 마찬가지로, 남편도 자기 몸을 마음대로 주장하지 못하고, 아내가 주장합니다

( The wife's body does not belong to her alone but also to her husband. In the same way, the husband's body does not belong to him alone but also to his wife.)

 

7:5 서로 물리치지 마십시오 여러분이 기도에 전념하기 위하여 얼마 동안 떨어져 있기로 합의한 경우에는 예외입니다 그러나 그 뒤에 다시 합하십시오 여러분이 절제하는 힘이 없는 틈을 타서 사탄이 여러분을 유혹할까 염려되기 때문입니다

( Do not deprive each other except by mutual consent and for a time, so that you may devote yourselves to prayer. Then come together again so that Satan will not tempt you because of your lack of self-control.)

 

7:6 그러나 내가 이것을 말하는 것은 그렇게 해도 좋다는 뜻으로 말하는 것이지, 명령으로 말하는 것은 아닙니다

( I say this as a concession, not as a command.)

 

7:7 나는 모든 사람이 다 나와 같이 되기를 바랍니다 그러나 각 사람은 하나님께로부터 받은 은사가 있어서, 이 사람은 이러하고 저 사람은 저러합니다

( I wish that all men were as I am. But each man has his own gift from God; one has this gift, another has that.)

 

7:8 결혼하지 않은 남자들과 과부들에게 말합니다 나처럼 그냥 지내는 것이 그들에게 좋습니다

( Now to the unmarried and the widows I say: It is good for them to stay unmarried, as I am.)

 

7:9 그러나 절제할 수 없거든 결혼하십시오 욕정에 불타는 것보다는 결혼하는 편이 낫습니다

( But if they cannot control themselves, they should marry, for it is better to marry than to burn with passion.)

 

7:10 결혼한 사람들에게 말합니다 이것은 나의 말이 아니라, 주님의 명령입니다 아내는 남편과 헤어지지 말아야 합니다

( To the married I give this command (not I, but the Lord): A wife must not separate from her husband.)

 

7:11 -만일 헤어졌거든 재혼하지 말고 그냥 지내든지, 그렇지 않으면 남편과 화해하여야 합니다- 그리고 남편도 아내를 버리지 말아야 합니다

( But if she does, she must remain unmarried or else be reconciled to her husband. And a husband must not divorce his wife.)

 

7:12 그 밖의 사람들에게 말합니다 이것은 나의 말이요, 주님의 말씀은 아닙니다 어떤 교우에게 믿지 않는 아내가 있는데, 그 여자가 남편과 같이 살기를 원하면, 그 여자를 버리지 말아야 합니다

( To the rest I say this (I, not the Lord): If any brother has a wife who is not a believer and she is willing to live with him, he must not divorce her.)

 

7:13 또 어떤 여자에게 믿지 않는 남편이 있는데, 그가 아내와 같이 살기를 원하면, 그 남편을 버리지 말아야 합니다

( And if a woman has a husband who is not a believer and he is willing to live with her, she must not divorce him.)

 

7:14 믿지 않는 남편은 그의 아내로 말미암아 거룩해지고, 믿지 않는 아내는 그 남편으로 말미암아 거룩해졌습니다 그렇지 않으면, 그들의 자녀도 깨끗하지 못할 것인데, 이제 그들은 거룩합니다

( For the unbelieving husband has been sanctified through his wife, and the unbelieving wife has been sanctified through her believing husband. Otherwise your children would be unclean, but as it is, they are holy.)

 

7:15 그러나 믿지 않는 사람 쪽에서 헤어지려고 하면, 헤어져도 됩니다 믿는 형제나 자매가 이런 일에 얽매일 것이 없습니다 하나님께서는 여러분을 부르셔서 평화롭게 살게 하셨습니다

( But if the unbeliever leaves, let him do so. A believing man or woman is not bound in such circumstances; God has called us to live in peace.)

 

7:16 아내 된 이여, 그대가 혹시나 그대의 남편을 구원할는지 어찌 압니까? 남편 된 이여, 그대가 혹시나 그대의 아내를 구원할는지 어찌 압니까?

( How do you know, wife, whether you will save your husband? Or, how do you know, husband, whether you will save your wife?)

 

하나님이 주신 본분대로 살아가라

 

7:17 각 사람은, 주님께서 나누어주신 분수 그대로, 하나님께서 부르신 처지 그대로 살아가십시오 이것이 내가 모든 교회에서 명하는 지시입니다

( Nevertheless, each one should retain the place in life that the Lord assigned to him and to which God has called him. This is the rule I lay down in all the churches.)

 

7:18 할례를 받은 몸으로 부르심을 받은 사람은 굳이 그 할례 받은 흔적을 지우려고 하지 마십시오 할례를 받지 아니한 처지에서 부르심을 받은 사람은 굳이 할례를 받으려고 하지 마십시오

( Was a man already circumcised when he was called? He should not become uncircumcised. Was a man uncircumcised when he was called? He should not be circumcised.)

 

7:19 할례를 받은 것이나 안 받은 것이나, 그것은 문제가 아니고, 하나님의 계명을 지키는 것이 중요합니다

( Circumcision is nothing and uncircumcision is nothing. Keeping God's commands is what counts.)

 

7:20 각 사람은 부르심을 받은 그 때의 처지에 그대로 머물러 있으십시오

( Each one should remain in the situation which he was in when God called him.)

 

7:21 노예일 때에 부르심을 받았습니까? 그런 것에 마음 쓰지 마십시오 그러나 자유로운 몸이 될 수 있는 기회가 있으면, 어떻게 해서든지 그것을 이용하십시오

( Were you a slave when you were called? Don't let it trouble you--although if you can gain your freedom, do so.)

 

7:22 주님 안에서 노예로서 부르심을 받은 사람은 주님께 속한 자유인입니다 그와 같이 자유인으로서 부르심을 받은 사람은 그리스도의 노예입니다

( For he who was a slave when he was called by the Lord is the Lord's freedman; similarly, he who was a free man when he was called is Christ's slave.)

 

7:23 여러분은 하나님께서 값을 치르고 사신 사람입니다 그러므로 사람의 노예가 되지 마십시오

( You were bought at a price; do not become slaves of men.)

 

7:24 형제자매 여러분, 각각 부르심을 받은 그 때의 처지에 그대로 있으면서 하나님과 함께 살아가십시오

( Brothers, each man, as responsible to God, should remain in the situation God called him to.)

 

미혼자와 과부에게 주는 권면

 

7:25 주님께서 처녀들에 대해서 하신 명령을, 나로서는 받은 것이 없습니다 그러나 나는 주님의 자비하심을 힘입어 믿을 만한 사람이 된 사람으로서, 의견을 제시합니다

( Now about virgins: I have no command from the Lord, but I give a judgment as one who by the Lord's mercy is trustworthy.)

 

7:26 지금 닥쳐오는 재난 때문에, 사람이 현재 상태대로 살아가는 것이 좋다고, 나는 생각합니다

( Because of the present crisis, I think that it is good for you to remain as you are.)

 

7:27 아내에게 매였으면, 그에게서 벗어나려고 하지 마십시오 아내에게서 놓였으면, 아내를 얻으려고 하지 마십시오

( Are you married? Do not seek a divorce. Are you unmarried? Do not look for a wife.)

 

7:28 그러나 결혼한다고 할지라도, 죄를 짓는 것이 아닙니다 그리고 처녀가 결혼을 하더라도, 죄를 짓는 것이 아닙니다 그러나 그들이 살림살이로 몸이 고달플 것이므로, 내가 아껴서 말해 주는 것입니다

( But if you do marry, you have not sinned; and if a virgin marries, she has not sinned. But those who marry will face many troubles in this life, and I want to spare you this.)

 

7:29 형제자매 여러분, 내가 말하려는 것은 이것입니다 때가 얼마 남지 않았으니, 이제부터는 아내 있는 사람은 없는 사람처럼 하고,

( What I mean, brothers, is that the time is short. From now on those who have wives should live as if they had none;)

 

7:30 우는 사람은 울지 않는 사람처럼 하고, 기쁜 사람은 기쁘지 않은 사람처럼 하고, 무엇을 산 사람은 그것을 가지고 있지 않은 사람처럼 하고,

( those who mourn, as if they did not; those who are happy, as if they were not; those who buy something, as if it were not theirs to keep;)

 

7:31 세상을 이용하는 사람은 그렇게 하지 않는 사람처럼 하도록 하십시오 이 세상의 형체는 사라집니다

( those who use the things of the world, as if not engrossed in them. For this world in its present form is passing away.)

 

7:32 나는 여러분이 염려 없이 살기를 바랍니다 결혼하지 않은 남자는, 어떻게 하면 주님을 기쁘게 해 드릴 수 있을까 하고, 주님의 일에 마음을 씁니다

( I would like you to be free from concern. An unmarried man is concerned about the Lord's affairs--how he can please the Lord.)

 

7:33 그러나 결혼한 남자는, 어떻게 하면 자기 아내를 기쁘게 할 수 있을까 하고, 세상 일에 마음을 쓰게 되므로,

( But a married man is concerned about the affairs of this world--how he can please his wife--)

 

7:34 마음이 나뉘어 있습니다 결혼하지 않은 여자나 처녀는, 몸과 영을 거룩하게 하려고 주님의 일에 마음을 쓰지만, 결혼한 여자는, 어떻게 하면 남편을 기쁘게 할 수 있을까 하고, 세상 일에 마음을 씁니다

( and his interests are divided. An unmarried woman or virgin is concerned about the Lord's affairs: Her aim is to be devoted to the Lord in both body and spirit. But a married woman is concerned about the affairs of this world--how she can please her husband.)

 

7:35 내가 이 말을 하는 것은 여러분을 유익하게 하려고 그러는 것이지, 여러분에게 올가미를 씌우려고 그러는 것이 아닙니다 오히려 여러분이 품위 있게 살면서, 마음에 헛갈림이 없이, 오직 주님만을 섬기게 하려는 것입니다

( I am saying this for your own good, not to restrict you, but that you may live in a right way in undivided devotion to the Lord.)

 

7:36 어떤 이가 결혼을 단념하는 것이 자기의 약혼녀에게 온당하게 대하는 일이 못 된다고 생각하면, 더구나 애정이 강렬하여 꼭 결혼을 해야겠으면, 그는 원하는 대로 그렇게 하십시오 결혼하는 것이 죄를 짓는 것이 아니니, 그런 사람들은 결혼하십시오

( If anyone thinks he is acting improperly toward the virgin he is engaged to, and if she is getting along in years and he feels he ought to marry, he should do as he wants. He is not sinning. They should get married.)

 

7:37 그러나 결혼하지 않기로 마음을 굳게 먹은 사람이, 부득이한 일도 없고, 또 자기의 욕망을 제어할 수 있어서, 자기 약혼녀를 처녀로 그대로 두기로 마음에 작정하였으면, 그것은 잘하는 일입니다

( But the man who has settled the matter in his own mind, who is under no compulsion but has control over his own will, and who has made up his mind not to marry the virgin--this man also does the right thing.)

 

7:38 그러므로, 자기의 약혼녀와 결혼하는 사람도 잘하는 것이지만, 결혼하지 않는 사람은 더 잘하는 것입니다

( So then, he who marries the virgin does right, but he who does not marry her does even better.)

 

7:39 아내는, 남편이 살아 있는 동안에는, 그에게 매여 있습니다 그러나 남편이 죽으면, 자기가 원하는 사람과 결혼할 자유가 있습니다 다만, 주님 안에서만 그렇게 해야 할 것입니다

( A woman is bound to her husband as long as he lives. But if her husband dies, she is free to marry anyone she wishes, but he must belong to the Lord.)

 

7:40 내 의견으로는, 그 여자는 그대로 혼자 지내는 것이 더 행복할 것입니다 나도 하나님의 영을 받았다고 생각합니다

( In my judgment, she is happier if she stays as she is--and I think that I too have the Spirit of God.)

고린도전서 8장

 

우상에게 바친 제물

 

8:1 우상에게 바친 고기에 대하여 말하겠습니다 우리는 우리 모두가 지식이 있는 줄로 알고 있습니다 지식은 사람을 교만하게 하지만, 사랑은 덕을 세웁니다

( Now about food sacrificed to idols: We know that we all possess knowledge. Knowledge puffs up, but love builds up.)

 

8:2 자기가 무엇을 안다고 생각하는 사람은, 아직도 그가 마땅히 알아야 할 방식대로 알지 못하는 사람입니다

( The man who thinks he knows something does not yet know as he ought to know.)

 

8:3 그러나 하나님을 사랑하는 사람은 하나님께서 그를 알아주십니다

( But the man who loves God is known by God.)

 

8:4 그런데 우상에게 바친 고기를 먹는 일을 두고 말하면, 우리가 알기로는, 세상에 우상이란 것은 아무것도 아니고, 오직 하나님 한 분 밖에는 신이 없습니다

( So then, about eating food sacrificed to idols: We know that an idol is nothing at all in the world and that there is no God but one.)

 

8:5 이른바 신이라는 것들이 하늘에든 땅에든 있다고 칩시다 그러면 많은 신과 많은 주가 있는 것 같습니다

( For even if there are so-called gods, whether in heaven or on earth (as indeed there are many "gods" and many "lords"),)

 

8:6 그러나 우리에게는 아버지가 되시는 하나님 한 분이 계실 뿐입니다 만물은 그분에게서 났고, 우리는 그분을 위하여 있습니다 그리고 한 분 주님이신 예수 그리스도가 계십니다 만물이 그분으로 말미암아 있고, 우리도 그분으로 말미암아 있습니다

( yet for us there is but one God, the Father, from whom all things came and for whom we live; and there is but one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things came and through whom we live.)

 

8:7 그러나 누구에게나 다 지식이 있는 것은 아닙니다 어떤 사람들은 지금까지 우상을 섬기던 관습에 젖어 있어서, 그들이 먹는 고기가 우상의 것인 줄로 여기면서 먹습니다 그들의 양심이 약하므로 더럽혀지는 것입니다

( But not everyone knows this. Some people are still so accustomed to idols that when they eat such food they think of it as having been sacrificed to an idol, and since their conscience is weak, it is defiled.)

 

8:8 그러나 "우리를 하나님 앞에 내세우는 것은 음식이 아닙니다" 음식을 먹지 않는다고 해서 손해볼 것도 없고, 먹는다고 해서 이로울 것도 없습니다

( But food does not bring us near to God; we are no worse if we do not eat, and no better if we do.)

 

8:9 그러나 여러분에게 있는 이 자유가 약한 사람들에게 걸림돌이 되지 않도록 조심하십시오

( Be careful, however, that the exercise of your freedom does not become a stumbling block to the weak.)

 

8:10 지식이 있는 당신이 우상의 신당에 앉아서 먹고 있는 것을 어떤 사람이 보면, 그가 약한 사람일지라도, 그 양심에 용기가 생겨서, 우상에게 바친 고기를 먹게 되지 않겠습니까?

( For if anyone with a weak conscience sees you who have this knowledge eating in an idol's temple, won't he be emboldened to eat what has been sacrificed to idols?)

 

8:11 그러면 그 약한 사람은 당신의 지식 때문에 망하는 것입니다 그리스도께서는 그 약한 신도를 위하여 죽으셨습니다

( So this weak brother, for whom Christ died, is destroyed by your knowledge.)

 

8:12 이렇게 여러분이 형제자매들에게 죄를 짓고, 그들의 약한 양심을 상하게 하는 것은 그리스도께 죄를 짓는 것입니다

( When you sin against your brothers in this way and wound their weak conscience, you sin against Christ.)

 

8:13 그러므로 음식이 내 형제를 걸어서 넘어지게 하는 것이라면, 그가 걸려서 넘어지지 않게 하기 위해서, 나는 평생 고기를 먹지 않겠습니다

( Therefore, if what I eat causes my brother to fall into sin, I will never eat meat again, so that I will not cause him to fall.)

사도의 권리

 

9:1 내가 자유인이 아닙니까? 내가 사도가 아닙니까? 내가 우리 주 예수를 뵙지 못하였습니까? 여러분은 주님 안에서 내가 일해서 얻은 열매가 아닙니까?

( Am I not free? Am I not an apostle? Have I not seen Jesus our Lord? Are you not the result of my work in the Lord?)

 

9:2 다른 사람들에게는 내가 사도가 아닐지 몰라도, 여러분에게는 사도입니다 여러분은 주님 안에서 나의 사도직을 보증하는 표입니다

( Even though I may not be an apostle to others, surely I am to you! For you are the seal of my apostleship in the Lord.)

 

9:3 나를 비판하는 사람들에게 이렇게 답변합니다

( This is my defense to those who sit in judgment on me.)

 

9:4 우리에게 먹고 마실 권리가 없습니까?

( Don't we have the right to food and drink?)

 

9:5 우리에게는 다른 사도들이나 주님의 동생들이나 게바처럼, 믿는 자매인 아내를 데리고 다닐 권리가 없단 말입니까?

( Don't we have the right to take a believing wife along with us, as do the other apostles and the Lord's brothers and Cephas?)

 

9:6 나와 바나바에게만은 노동하지 않을 권리가 없단 말입니까?

( Or is it only I and Barnabas who must work for a living?)

 

9:7 자기 비용으로 군에 복무하는 사람이 어디에 있습니까? 포도원을 만들고 그 열매를 따먹지 않는 사람이 어디에 있습니까? 양 떼를 치고 그 젖을 짜 먹지 않는 사람이 어디에 있습니까?

( Who serves as a soldier at his own expense? Who plants a vineyard and does not eat of its grapes? Who tends a flock and does not drink of the milk?)

 

9:8 내가 사람의 관례에만 의거하여 이런 말을 하는 줄 아십니까? 율법에도 이런 말이 있지 않습니까?

( Do I say this merely from a human point of view? Doesn't the Law say the same thing?)

 

9:9 모세의 율법에 기록하기를 "타작 일을 하는 소에게 망을 씌우지 말아라" 하였습니다 하나님께서 소를 걱정하신 것입니까?

( For it is written in the Law of Moses: "Do not muzzle an ox while it is treading out the grain." Is it about oxen that God is concerned?)

 

9:10 그렇지 않으면, 우리 모두를 위하여 말씀하신 것입니까? 그것은 우리를 위하여 하신 말씀입니다 밭을 가는 사람은 마땅히 희망을 가지고서 밭을 갈고, 타작을 하는 사람은 한 몫을 얻으리라는 희망을 가지고 그 일을 합니다

( Surely he says this for us, doesn't he? Yes, this was written for us, because when the plowman plows and the thresher threshes, they ought to do so in the hope of sharing in the harvest.)

 

9:11 우리가 여러분에게 영적인 것으로 씨를 뿌렸으면, 여러분에게서 물질적인 것으로 거둔다고 해서, 그것이 지나친 일이겠습니까?

( If we have sown spiritual seed among you, is it too much if we reap a material harvest from you?)

 

9:12 다른 사람들이 여러분에게 이런 권리를 가졌다면, 하물며 우리는 더욱 그러하지 않겠습니까? 그러나 우리는 이런 권리를 쓰지 않았습니다 우리는 그리스도의 복음을 전하는 일에 지장을 주지 않도록, 모든 것을 참습니다

( If others have this right of support from you, shouldn't we have it all the more? But we did not use this right. On the contrary, we put up with anything rather than hinder the gospel of Christ.)

 

9:13 성전에서 일하는 사람은 성전에서 나는 것을 먹고, 제단을 맡아보는 사람은 제단 제물을 나누어 가진다는 것을, 여러분은 알지 못합니까?

( Don't you know that those who work in the temple get their food from the temple, and those who serve at the altar share in what is offered on the altar?)

 

9:14 이와 같이 주님께서도, 복음을 전하는 사람들에게는 복음을 전하는 일로 살아가라고 지시하셨습니다

( In the same way, the Lord has commanded that those who preach the gospel should receive their living from the gospel.)

 

9:15 그러나 나는 이런 권리를 조금도 행사하지 아니하였습니다 또 나에게 그렇게 하여 달라고 이 말을 쓰는 것도 아닙니다 그렇게 하느니, 차라리 내가 죽는 편이 낫겠습니다 아무도 나의 이 자랑거리를 헛되게 하지 못할 것입니다

( But I have not used any of these rights. And I am not writing this in the hope that you will do such things for me. I would rather die than have anyone deprive me of this boast.)

 

9:16 내가 복음을 전할지라도, 그것이 나에게 자랑거리가 될 수 없습니다 나는 어쩔 수 없이 그것을 해야만 합니다 내가 복음을 전하지 않으면, 나에게 화가 미칠 것입니다

( Yet when I preach the gospel, I cannot boast, for I am compelled to preach. Woe to me if I do not preach the gospel!)

 

9:17 내가 자진해서 이 일을 하면 삯을 받을 것입니다 그러나 내가 마지못해서 하면, 직무를 따라 한 것입니다

( If I preach voluntarily, I have a reward; if not voluntarily, I am simply discharging the trust committed to me.)

 

9:18 그리하면 내가 받을 삯은 무엇이겠습니까? 그것은, 내가 복음을 전할 때에 값없이 전하고, 복음을 전하는 데에 따르는 나의 권리를 이용하지 않는다는 그 사실입니다

( What then is my reward? Just this: that in preaching the gospel I may offer it free of charge, and so not make use of my rights in preaching it.)

 

9:19 나는 어느 누구에게도 얽매이지 않은 자유로운 몸이지만, 많은 사람을 얻으려고, 스스로 모든 사람의 종이 되었습니다

( Though I am free and belong to no man, I make myself a slave to everyone, to win as many as possible.)

 

9:20 유대 사람들에게는, 유대 사람을 얻으려고 유대 사람같이 되었습니다 율법 아래 있는 사람들에게는, 내가 율법 아래 있지 않으면서도, 율법 아래에 있는 사람을 얻으려고 율법 아래 있는 사람같이 되었습니다

( To the Jews I became like a Jew, to win the Jews. To those under the law I became like one under the law (though I myself am not under the law), so as to win those under the law.)

 

9:21 율법이 없이 사는 사람들에게는, 내가 하나님의 율법이 없이 사는 사람이 아니라 그리스도의 율법 안에서 사는 사람이지만, 율법 없이 사는 사람들을 얻으려고 율법 없이 사는 사람같이 되었습니다

( To those not having the law I became like one not having the law (though I am not free from God's law but am under Christ's law), so as to win those not having the law.)

 

9:22 믿음이 약한 사람들에게는, 약한 사람들을 얻으려고 약한 사람이 되었습니다 나는 모든 종류의 사람에게 모든 것이 다 되었습니다 그것은, 내가 어떻게 해서든지, 그들 가운데서 몇 사람이라도 구원하려는 것입니다

( To the weak I became weak, to win the weak. I have become all things to all men so that by all possible means I might save some.)

 

9:23 나는 복음을 위하여 이 모든 일을 하고 있습니다 그것은 내가 복음의 복에 동참하기 위함입니다

( I do all this for the sake of the gospel, that I may share in its blessings.)

 

9:24 경기장에서 달리기하는 사람들이 모두 달리지만, 상을 받는 사람은 하나뿐이라는 것을 여러분은 알지 못합니까? 이와 같이 여러분도 상을 받을 수 있도록 달리십시오

( Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize.)

 

9:25 경기에 나서는 사람은 모든 일에 절제를 합니다 그런데 그들은 썩어 없어질 월계관을 얻으려고 절제를 하는 것이지만, 우리는 썩지 않을 월계관을 얻으려고 하는 것입니다

( Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last; but we do it to get a crown that will last forever.)

 

9:26 그러므로 나는 목표 없이 달리듯이 달리기를 하는 것이 아닙니다 나는 허공을 치듯이 권투를 하는 것이 아닙니다

( Therefore I do not run like a man running aimlessly; I do not fight like a man beating the air.)

우상 숭배를 경고함

 

10:1 형제자매 여러분, 나는 여러분이 이 사실을 알기를 바랍니다 우리 조상들은 모두 구름의 보호 아래 있었고, 바다 가운데를 지나갔습니다

( For I do not want you to be ignorant of the fact, brothers, that our forefathers were all under the cloud and that they all passed through the sea.)

 

10:2 이렇게 그들은 모두 구름과 바다 속에서 세례를 받아 모세에게 속하게 되었습니다

( They were all baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea.)

 

10:3 그들은 모두 똑같은 신령한 음식을 먹고,

( They all ate the same spiritual food)

 

10:4 모두 똑같은 신령한 물을 마셨습니다 그들은 자기들과 동행하는 신령한 바위에서 물을 마신 것입니다 그 바위는 그리스도였습니다

( and drank the same spiritual drink; for they drank from the spiritual rock that accompanied them, and that rock was Christ.)

 

10:5 그러나 그들의 대다수를 하나님께서는 좋아하지 않으셨습니다 그들은 광야에서 멸망하고 말았습니다

( Nevertheless, God was not pleased with most of them; their bodies were scattered over the desert.)

 

10:6 이런 일들은, 우리 조상들이 악을 좋아한 것과 같이 우리가 악을 좋아하는 사람이 되어서는 안된다는 것을, 우리에게 가르쳐주는 본보기가 되었습니다

( Now these things occurred as examples to keep us from setting our hearts on evil things as they did.)

 

10:7 그들 가운데 얼마는 우상을 숭배했습니다 성경에 기록하기를 "백성들이 앉아서 먹고 마셨으며, 일어서서 춤을 추었다" 하였습니다 여러분은 그들과 같이 우상 숭배자가 되어서는 안됩니다

( Do not be idolaters, as some of them were; as it is written: "The people sat down to eat and drink and got up to indulge in pagan revelry.")

 

10:8 간음하지 맙시다 그들 가운데 얼마가 간음을 하였고, 하루에 이만 삼천 명이나 쓰러져 죽었습니다

( We should not commit sexual immorality, as some of them did--and in one day twenty-three thousand of them died.)

 

10:9 그리스도를 시험하지 맙시다 그들 가운데 얼마는 그리스도를 시험하였고, 뱀에게 물려서 죽었습니다

( We should not test the Lord, as some of them did--and were killed by snakes.)

 

10:10 그들 가운데 얼마가 불평한 것과 같이 불평하지 마십시오 그들은 파멸시키는 이에게 멸망을 당하였습니다

( And do not grumble, as some of them did--and were killed by the destroying angel.)

 

10:11 이런 일들이 그들에게 일어난 것은 본보기가 되게 하려는 것이며, 그것들이 기록된 것은 말세를 만난 우리에게 경고가 되게 하려는 것입니다

( These things happened to them as examples and were written down as warnings for us, on whom the fulfillment of the ages has come.)

 

10:12 그러므로 서 있다고 생각하는 사람은 넘어지지 않도록 조심하십시오

( So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don't fall!)

 

10:13 여러분은 사람이 흔히 겪는 시련 밖에 다른 시련을 당한 적이 없습니다 하나님은 신실하십니다 여러분이 감당할 수 있는 능력 이상으로 시련을 겪는 것을 하나님은 허락하지 않으십니다 하나님께서는 시련과 함께 그것을 벗어날 길도 마련해 주셔서, 여러분이 그 시련을 견디어 낼 수 있게 해주십니다

( No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it.)

 

10:14 그러므로 나의 사랑하는 여러분, 우상 숭배를 멀리하십시오

( Therefore, my dear friends, flee from idolatry.)

 

10:15 나는 지각 있는 사람들에게 말하듯이 말합니다 내가 하는 말을 판단하십시오

( I speak to sensible people; judge for yourselves what I say.)

 

10:16 우리가 축복하는 축복의 잔은, 그리스도의 피에 참여함이 아닙니까? 우리가 떼는 빵은, 그리스도의 몸에 참여함이 아닙니까?

( Is not the cup of thanksgiving for which we give thanks a participation in the blood of Christ? And is not the bread that we break a participation in the body of Christ?)

 

10:17 빵이 하나이므로, 우리가 여럿일지라도 한 몸입니다 그것은 우리가 모두 그 한 덩이 빵을 함께 나누어 먹기 때문입니다

( Because there is one loaf, we, who are many, are one body, for we all partake of the one loaf.)

 

10:18 육신상의 이스라엘 백성을 보십시오 제물을 먹는 사람들은, 그 제단에 참여하는 사람이 아닙니까?

( Consider the people of Israel: Do not those who eat the sacrifices participate in the altar?)

 

10:19 그러니 내가 무엇을 말하려는 것입니까? 우상은 무엇이고, 우상에게 바친 제물은 무엇입니까?

( Do I mean then that a sacrifice offered to an idol is anything, or that an idol is anything?)

 

10:20 아무것도 아닙니다 이방 사람들이 바치는 제물은 귀신에게 바치는 것이지, 하나님께 바치는 것이 아닙니다 여러분이 귀신과 친교를 가지는 사람이 되는 것을 나는 바라지 않습니다

( No, but the sacrifices of pagans are offered to demons, not to God, and I do not want you to be participants with demons.)

 

10:21 여러분은, 주님의 잔을 마시고, 아울러 귀신들의 잔을 마실 수는 없습니다 여러분은, 주님의 식탁에 참여하고, 아울러 귀신들의 식탁에 참여할 수는 없습니다

( You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons too; you cannot have a part in both the Lord's table and the table of demons.)

 

10:22 우리가 주님을 질투하시게 하려는 것입니까? 우리가 주님보다 더 힘이 세다는 말입니까?

( Are we trying to arouse the Lord's jealousy? Are we stronger than he?)

 

모든 것을 하나님의 영광을 위하여

 

10:23 모든 것이 다 허용된다'고 사람들은 말하지만, 모든 것이 다 유익한 것은 아닙니다 '모든 것이 다 허용된다'고 사람들은 말하지만, 모든 것이 다 덕을 세우는 것은 아닙니다

( "Everything is permissible"--but not everything is beneficial. "Everything is permissible"--but not everything is constructive.)

 

10:24 아무도 자기의 유익을 추구하지 말고, 남의 유익을 추구하십시오

( Nobody should seek his own good, but the good of others.)

 

10:25 시장에서 파는 것은, 양심을 위한다고 하여 그 출처를 묻지 말고, 무엇이든지 다 먹으십시오

( Eat anything sold in the meat market without raising questions of conscience,)

 

10:26 땅과 거기에 가득 찬 것들이 다 주님의 것'이기 때문입니다

( for, "The earth is the Lord's, and everything in it.")

 

10:27 불신자들 가운데서 누가 여러분을 초대하여, 거기에 가고 싶으면, 여러분 앞에 차려 놓은 것은 무엇이나, 양심을 위한다고 하여 묻지 말고, 드십시오

( If some unbeliever invites you to a meal and you want to go, eat whatever is put before you without raising questions of conscience.)

 

10:28 그러나 어떤 사람이 "이것은 제사에 올린 음식입니다" 하고 여러분에게 말해 주거든, 그렇게 알려 준 사람과 그 양심을 위해서, 먹지 마십시오

( But if anyone says to you, "This has been offered in sacrifice," then do not eat it, both for the sake of the man who told you and for conscience' sake--)

 

10:29 내가 여기에서 양심이라고 말하는 것은, 내 양심이 아니라, 다른 사람의 양심입니다 어찌하여 내 자유가 남의 양심의 비판을 받아야 하겠습니까?

( the other man's conscience, I mean, not yours. For why should my freedom be judged by another's conscience?)

 

10:30 내가 감사하는 마음으로 참여하면, 내가 감사하는 그 음식 때문에 비방을 받을 까닭이 어디에 있습니까?

( If I take part in the meal with thankfulness, why am I denounced because of something I thank God for?)

 

10:31 그러므로 여러분은 먹든지 마시든지, 무슨 일을 하든지, 모든 것을 하나님의 영광을 위하여 하십시오

( So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.)

 

10:32 여러분은 유대 사람에게도, 그리스 사람에게도, 하나님의 교회에도, 걸림돌이 되지 마십시오

( Do not cause anyone to stumble, whether Jews, Greeks or the church of God--)

 

10:33 나도 모든 일을 모든 사람의 마음에 들게 하려고 애씁니다 그것은, 내가 내 이로움을 구하지 않고, 많은 사람의 이로움을 추구하여, 그들이 구원을 받게 하려는 것입니다

( even as I try to please everybody in every way. For I am not seeking my own good but the good of many, so that they may be saved.)
