베드로전서 1장

 

인사

 

1:1 예수 그리스도의 사도인 베드로가, 본도와 갈라디아와 갑바도기아와 아시아와 비두니아에 흩어져서 사는 나그네들인, 택하심을 입은 이들에게 이 편지를 씁니다

( Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, To God's elect, strangers in the world, scattered throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia and Bithynia,)

 

1:2 하나님 아버지께서 여러분을 미리 아시고 성령으로 거룩하게 해 주셔서, 여러분은 순종하게 되고, 예수 그리스도의 피 뿌림을 받게 되었습니다 여러분에게 은혜와 평화가 더욱 가득 차기를 빕니다

( who have been chosen according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through the sanctifying work of the Spirit, for obedience to Jesus Christ and sprinkling by his blood: Grace and peace be yours in abundance.)

 

산 소망

 

1:3 우리 주 예수 그리스도의 하나님 아버지께 찬양을 드립시다 하나님께서는 그 크신 자비로 우리를 새로 태어나게 하셨습니다 그리하여 그는, 죽은 사람들 가운데서 예수 그리스도가 부활하심으로 말미암아 우리로 하여금 산 소망을 갖게 해 주셨으며,

( Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,)

 

1:4 썩지 않고 더러워지지 않고 낡아 없어지지 않는 유산을 물려받게 하셨습니다 이 유산은 여러분을 위하여 하늘에 간직되어 있습니다

( and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade--kept in heaven for you,)

 

1:5 하나님께서는 여러분의 믿음을 보시고 그의 능력으로 여러분을 보호해 주시며, 마지막 때에 나타나기로 되어 있는 구원을 얻게 해 주십니다

( who through faith are shielded by God's power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time.)

 

1:6 그러므로 여러분이 지금 잠시동안 여러 가지 시련 속에서 어쩔 수 없이 슬픔을 당하게 되었다 하더라도 기뻐하십시오

( In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials.)

 

1:7 하나님께서는 여러분의 믿음을 단련하셔서, 불로 단련하지만 결국 없어지고 마는 금보다 더 귀한 것이 되게 하시며, 예수 그리스도께서 나타나실 때에 여러분에게 칭찬과 영광과 존귀를 얻게 해 주십니다

( These have come so that your faith--of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire--may be proved genuine and may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed.)

 

1:8 여러분은 그리스도를 본 일이 없으면서도 사랑하며, 지금 그를 보지 못하면서도 믿으며, 말로 다 표현할 수 없는 즐거움과 영광을 누리면서 기뻐하고 있습니다

( Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy,)

 

1:9 여러분은 믿음의 목표 곧 여러분의 영혼의 구원을 받고 있는 것입니다

( for you are receiving the goal of your faith, the salvation of your souls.)

 

1:10 예언자들은 이 구원을 자세히 살피고 연구하였습니다 그들은 여러분이 받을 은혜를 예언하였습니다

( Concerning this salvation, the prophets, who spoke of the grace that was to come to you, searched intently and with the greatest care,)

 

1:11 누구에게 또는 어느 때에 이런 일이 일어날 것인지를 그들이 연구할 때에, 그들 안에 계신 그리스도의 영이 그리스도에게 닥칠 고난과 그 뒤에 올 영광을 미리 증언하여 드러내 주셨습니다

( trying to find out the time and circumstances to which the Spirit of Christ in them was pointing when he predicted the sufferings of Christ and the glories that would follow.)

 

1:12 예언자들은 자기들이 섬긴 그 일들이, 자기들을 위한 것이 아니라 여러분을 위한 것임을 계시로 알게 되었습니다 그 일들은 하늘로부터 보내주신 성령을 힘입어서 여러분에게 복음을 전한 사람들이 이제 여러분에게 선포한 것입니다 그 일들은 천사들도 보고 싶어하는 것입니다

( It was revealed to them that they were not serving themselves but you, when they spoke of the things that have now been told you by those who have preached the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven. Even angels long to look into these things.)

 

블러 주심에 걸맞는 거룩한 생활

 

1:13 그러므로 여러분은 마음을 단단히 먹고 정신을 차려서, 예수 그리스도께서 나타나실 때에 여러분이 받을 은혜를 끝까지 바라고 있으십시오

( Therefore, prepare your minds for action; be self-controlled; set your hope fully on the grace to be given you when Jesus Christ is revealed.)

 

1:14 순종하는 자녀로서 여러분은 전에 모르고 좇았던 욕망을 따라 살지 말고,

( As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance.)

 

1:15 여러분을 불러주신 그 거룩하신 분을 따라 모든 행실을 거룩하게 하십시오

( But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do;)

 

1:16 성경에 기록하기를 "내가 거룩하니 너희도 거룩하여라" 하였습니다

( for it is written: "Be holy, because I am holy.")

 

1:17 그리고 사람을 겉모양으로 판단하지 않으시고 각 사람의 행위대로 심판하시는 분을 여러분이 아버지라고 부르고 있으니, 여러분은 나그네 삶을 사는 동안 두려운 마음으로 살아가십시오

( Since you call on a Father who judges each man's work impartially, live your lives as strangers here in reverent fear.)

 

1:18 여러분은 조상으로부터 물려받은 여러분의 헛된 생활방식에서 해방되었습니다 여러분도 아시지만, 그것은 은이나 금과 같은 썩어질 것으로 된 것이 아니라,

( For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your forefathers,)

 

1:19 흠이 없고 티가 없는 어린 양의 피와 같은 그리스도의 귀한 피로 되었습니다

( but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect.)

 

1:20 하나님께서는 이 그리스도를 세상이 창조되기 전에 미리 아셨고, 이 마지막 때에 여러분을 위하여 나타내셨습니다

( He was chosen before the creation of the world, but was revealed in these last times for your sake.)

 

1:21 여러분은 그리스도로 말미암아 하나님을 믿고 있습니다 하나님은 그리스도를 죽은 사람 가운데서 살리시고 그에게 영광을 주셨습니다 그래서 여러분의 믿음과 소망은 하나님을 향해 있습니다

( Through him you believe in God, who raised him from the dead and glorified him, and so your faith and hope are in God.)

 

1:22 여러분은 진리에 순종함으로 영혼을 정결하게 하여서 꾸밈없이 서로 사랑하기에 이르렀으니, [순결한] 마음으로 서로 뜨겁게 사랑하십시오

( Now that you have purified yourselves by obeying the truth so that you have sincere love for your brothers, love one another deeply, from the heart.)

 

1:23 여러분은 다시 태어났습니다 그것은 썩을 씨로 그렇게 된 것이 아니라, 썩지 않을 씨 곧 살아 계시고 영원하신 하나님의 말씀으로 그렇게 되었습니다

( For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God.)

 

1:24 "모든 육체는 풀과 같고, 그 모든 영광은 풀의 꽃과 같다 풀은 마르고 꽃은 떨어지되,

( For, "All men are like grass, and all their glory is like the flowers of the field; the grass withers and the flowers fall,)

 

1:25 주님의 말씀은 영원히 있다" 이것이 여러분에게 복음으로 전해진 말씀입니다

( but the word of the Lord stands forever." And this is the word that was preached to you.)

베드로전서 2장

 

살아 있는 돌과 거룩한 국민

 

2:1 그러므로 여러분은 모든 악의와 모든 기만과 위선과 시기와 온갖 비방하는 말을 버리십시오

( Therefore, rid yourselves of all malice and all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and slander of every kind.)

 

2:2 갓난 아기들처럼 순수하고 신령한 젖을 그리워하십시오 여러분은 그것을 먹고 자라서 구원에 이르러야 합니다

( Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation,)

 

2:3 여러분은 주님의 인자하심을 맛보았습니다

( now that you have tasted that the Lord is good.)

 

2:4 주님께 나아오십시오 그는 사람에게는 버림을 받으셨으나, 하나님께는 택하심을 받은 살아 있는 귀한 돌입니다

( As you come to him, the living Stone--rejected by men but chosen by God and precious to him--)

 

2:5 살아 있는 돌과 같은 존재로서 여러분도 집 짓는 데 사용되어 신령한 집이 됩니다 그래서 여러분은 예수 그리스도로 말미암아 하나님께서 기쁘게 받으실 신령한 제사를 드리는 거룩한 제사장이 되십니다

( you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.)

 

2:6 성경에 이런 말씀이 있습니다 "보아라, 내가 골라낸 귀한 모퉁이 돌 하나를 시온에 둔다 그를 믿는 사람은 결코 부끄러움을 당하지 않을 것이다"

( For in Scripture it says: "See, I lay a stone in Zion, a chosen and precious cornerstone, and the one who trusts in him will never be put to shame.")

 

2:7 그러므로 이 돌은 믿는 사람들인 여러분에게는 귀한 것이지만, 믿지 않는 사람들에게는, "집 짓는 자들이 버렸으나, 모퉁이의 머릿돌이 된 돌"이요,

( Now to you who believe, this stone is precious. But to those who do not believe, "The stone the builders rejected has become the capstone,")

 

2:8 또한 "걸리는 돌과 넘어지게 하는 바위"입니다 그들이 걸려서 넘어지는 것은 말씀을 순종하지 않기 때문이며, 또한 그렇게 되도록 정해 놓으셨기 때문입니다

( and, "A stone that causes men to stumble and a rock that makes them fall." They stumble because they disobey the message--which is also what they were destined for.)

 

2:9 그러나 여러분은 택하심을 받은 족속이요, 왕과 같은 제사장들이요, 거룩한 민족이요, 하나님의 소유가 된 백성입니다 그래서 여러분을 어둠에서 불러내어 자기의 놀라운 빛 가운데로 인도하신 분의 업적을, 여러분이 선포하는 것입니다

( But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.)

 

2:10 여러분이 전에는 하나님의 백성이 아니었으나, 지금은 하나님의 백성이요, 전에는 자비를 입지 못한 사람이었으나, 지금은 자비를 입은 사람입니다

( Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.)

 

하나님의 종으로 살라

 

2:11 사랑하는 여러분, 나는 나그네와 거류민 같은 여러분에게 권합니다 영혼을 거슬러 싸우는 육체적 정욕을 멀리하십시오

( Dear friends, I urge you, as aliens and strangers in the world, to abstain from sinful desires, which war against your soul.)

 

2:12 여러분은 이방 사람 가운데서 행실을 바르게 하십시오 그렇게 해야 그들은 여러분더러 악을 행하는 자라고 욕하다가도, 여러분의 바른 행위를 보고 하나님께서 찾아오시는 날에 하나님께 영광을 돌릴 것입니다

( Live such good lives among the pagans that, though they accuse you of doing wrong, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day he visits us.)

 

2:13 여러분은 인간이 세운 모든 제도에 주님을 위하여 복종하십시오 주권자인 왕에게나,

( Submit yourselves for the Lord's sake to every authority instituted among men: whether to the king, as the supreme authority,)

 

2:14 총독들에게나, 그렇게 하십시오 총독들은 악을 행하는 사람에게 벌을 주고 선을 행하는 사람에게 상을 주게 하려고 왕이 보낸 이들입니다

( or to governors, who are sent by him to punish those who do wrong and to commend those who do right.)

 

2:15 선을 행함으로 어리석은 자들의 무지한 입을 막는 것이 하나님의 뜻입니다

( For it is God's will that by doing good you should silence the ignorant talk of foolish men.)

 

2:16 여러분은 자유인으로 사십시오 그러나 그 자유를 악을 행하는 구실로 쓰지 말고, 하나님의 종으로 사십시오

( Live as free men, but do not use your freedom as a cover-up for evil; live as servants of God.)

 

2:17 모든 사람을 존중하며, 믿음의 식구들을 사랑하며, 하나님을 두려워하며, 왕을 공경하십시오

( Show proper respect to everyone: Love the brotherhood of believers, fear God, honor the king.)

 

그리스도의 고난

 

2:18 하인으로 있는 여러분, 극히 두려운 마음으로 주인에게 복종하십시오 선량하고 너그러운 주인에게만 아니라, 까다로운 주인에게도 그리하십시오

( Slaves, submit yourselves to your masters with all respect, not only to those who are good and considerate, but also to those who are harsh.)

 

2:19 억울하게 고난을 당하더라도 하나님을 생각하면서 괴로움을 참으면, 그것은 아름다운 일입니다

( For it is commendable if a man bears up under the pain of unjust suffering because he is conscious of God.)

 

2:20 죄를 짓고 매를 맞으면서 참으면, 그것이 무슨 자랑이 되겠습니까? 그러나 선을 행하다가 고난을 당하면서 참으면, 그것은 하나님께서 보시기에 아름다운 일입니다

( But how is it to your credit if you receive a beating for doing wrong and endure it? But if you suffer for doing good and you endure it, this is commendable before God.)

 

2:21 바로 이것을 위하여 여러분은 부르심을 받았습니다 그리스도께서는 여러분을 위하여 고난을 당하심으로써 여러분이 자기의 발자취를 따르게 하시려고 여러분에게 본을 남겨 놓으셨습니다

( To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps.)

 

2:22 그는 죄를 지으신 일이 없고 그의 입에서는 아무런 거짓도 찾아볼 수 없었습니다

( "He committed no sin, and no deceit was found in his mouth.")

 

2:23 그는 모욕을 당하셨으나 모욕으로 갚지 않으시고, 고난을 당하셨으나 위협하지 않으시고, 정의롭게 심판하시는 이에게 다 맡기셨습니다

( When they hurled their insults at him, he did not retaliate; when he suffered, he made no threats. Instead, he entrusted himself to him who judges justly.)

 

2:24 그는 우리 죄를 자기의 몸에 몸소 지시고서, 나무에 달리셨습니다 그것은, 우리가 죄에는 죽고 의에는 살게 하시려는 것이었습니다 그가 매를 맞아 상함으로 여러분이 나음을 얻었습니다

( He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed.)

 

2:25 전에는 여러분은 길 잃은 양과 같았으나, 이제는 여러분의 영혼의 목자이며 감독이신 그에게로 돌아왔습니다

( For you were like sheep going astray, but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.)

베드로전서 3장

 

아내와 남편

 

3:1 아내가 된 이 여러분, 이와 같이 여러분은 자기 남편에게 순복하십시오 그리하면 비록 말씀에 복종하지 않는 남편일지라도, 말을 하지 않고도 아내 여러분의 행실로 말미암아 구원을 얻게 될 것입니다

( Wives, in the same way be submissive to your husbands so that, if any of them do not believe the word, they may be won over without words by the behavior of their wives,)

 

3:2 그들이 여러분의 경건하고 순결한 행실을 보고 그렇게 될 것입니다

( when they see the purity and reverence of your lives.)

 

3:3 여러분은 머리를 꾸미며 금붙이를 달거나 옷을 차려 입거나 하여 겉치장을 하지 말고,

( Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as braided hair and the wearing of gold jewelry and fine clothes.)

 

3:4 썩지 않는 온유하고 정숙한 마음으로 속 사람을 단장하도록 하십시오 그것이 하나님께서 보시기에 값진 것입니다

( Instead, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God's sight.)

 

3:5 전에 하나님께 소망을 두고 살던 거룩한 여자들도 이와 같이 자기를 단장하고, 자기 남편에게 순복하였습니다

( For this is the way the holy women of the past who put their hope in God used to make themselves beautiful. They were submissive to their own husbands,)

 

3:6 사라가 아브라함을 주인이라고 부르면서 그에게 순종하던 것과 같습니다 여러분은 선을 행하고, 아무리 무서운 일도 두려워하지 않으니, 사라의 딸이 된 것입니다

( like Sarah, who obeyed Abraham and called him her master. You are her daughters if you do what is right and do not give way to fear.)

 

3:7 남편이 된 이 여러분, 이와 같이 여러분도 아내가 여성으로서 자기보다 연약한 그릇임을 이해하고 함께 살아야 합니다 그리고 생명의 은혜를 함께 상속받을 사람으로 알고 존중하십시오 그리해야 여러분의 기도가 막히지 않을 것입니다

( Husbands, in the same way be considerate as you live with your wives, and treat them with respect as the weaker partner and as heirs with you of the gracious gift of life, so that nothing will hinder your prayers.)

 

의를 위한 고난

 

3:8 마지막으로 말합니다 여러분은 모두 한 마음을 품으며, 서로 동정하며, 서로 사랑하며, 자비로우며, 겸손하십시오

( Finally, all of you, live in harmony with one another; be sympathetic, love as brothers, be compassionate and humble.)

 

3:9 악을 악으로 갚거나 모욕을 모욕으로 갚지 말고, 복을 빌어 주십시오 여러분으로 하여금 복을 상속받게 하시려고, 하나님께서 여러분을 부르셨습니다

( Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult, but with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing.)

 

3:10 "생명을 사랑하고, 좋은 날을 보려고 하는 사람은 혀를 다스려 악한 말을 하지 못하게 하며, 입술을 닫아서 거짓말을 하지 못하게 하여라

( For, "Whoever would love life and see good days must keep his tongue from evil and his lips from deceitful speech.)

 

3:11 악에서 떠나, 선을 행하며, 평화를 추구하며, 그것을 좇아라

( He must turn from evil and do good; he must seek peace and pursue it.)

 

3:12 주님의 눈은 의인들을 굽어보시고, 주님의 귀는 그들의 간구를 들으신다 그러나 주님은 악을 행하는 자들에게서는 얼굴을 돌리신다"

( For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and his ears are attentive to their prayer, but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.")

 

3:13 그러므로 여러분이 열심으로 선한 일을 하면, 누가 여러분을 해치겠습니까?

( Who is going to harm you if you are eager to do good?)

 

3:14 그러나 정의를 위하여 고난을 받으면, 여러분은 복이 있습니다 그들의 위협을 무서워하지 말며, 흔들리지 마십시오

( But even if you should suffer for what is right, you are blessed. "Do not fear what they fear; do not be frightened.")

 

3:15 다만 여러분의 마음 속에 그리스도를 주님으로 모시고 거룩하게 대하십시오 여러분이 가진 희망을 설명하여 주기를 바라는 사람에게는, 언제나 답변할 수 있게 준비를 해 두십시오

( But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect,)

 

3:16 그러나 온유함과 두려운 마음으로 답변하십시오 선한 양심을 가지십시오 그리하면 그리스도 안에서 행하는 여러분의 선한 행실을 욕하는 사람들이, 여러분을 헐뜯는 그 일로 부끄러움을 당하게 될 것입니다

( keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander.)

 

3:17 하나님께서 바라시는 뜻이라면, 선을 행하다가 고난을 받는 것이, 악을 행하다가 고난을 받는 것보다 낫습니다

( It is better, if it is God's will, to suffer for doing good than for doing evil.)

 

3:18 그리스도께서도 죄를 사하시려고 단 한 번 죽으셨습니다 곧 의인이 불의한 사람을 위하여 죽으신 것입니다 그것은 그가 육으로는 죽임을 당하시고 영으로는 살리심을 받으셔서 여러분을 하나님 앞으로 인도하시려는 것입니다

( For Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive by the Spirit,)

 

3:19 그는 영으로, 옥에 있는 영들에게도 가셔서 선포하셨습니다

( through whom also he went and preached to the spirits in prison)

 

3:20 그 영들은, 옛적에 노아가 방주를 지을 동안에, 곧 하나님께서 아직 참고 기다리실 때에, 순종하지 않던 자들을 말하는 것입니다 그 방주에 들어가 물에서 구원받은 사람은 겨우 여덟 사람밖에 없었습니다

( who disobeyed long ago when God waited patiently in the days of Noah while the ark was being built. In it only a few people, eight in all, were saved through water,)

 

3:21 그 물은 지금 여러분을 구원하는 세례를 미리 보여준 것입니다 세례는 육체의 더러움을 씻어 내는 것이 아니라, 예수 그리스도의 부활을 힘입어서 선한 양심이 하나님께 응답하는 것입니다

( and this water symbolizes baptism that now saves you also--not the removal of dirt from the body but the pledge of a good conscience toward God. It saves you by the resurrection of Jesus Christ,)

 

3:22 그리스도께서는 하늘로 가셔서 하나님의 오른쪽에 계시니, 천사들과 권세들과 능력들이 그에게 복종하고 있습니다

( who has gone into heaven and is at God's right hand--with angels, authorities and powers in submission to him.)

베드로전서 4장

 

하나님의 은혜를 맡은 선한 관리인

 

4:1 그리스도께서는 육신으로 고난을 받으셨습니다 여러분도 같은 마음으로 무장하십시오 육신으로 고난을 받은 사람은 이미 죄와 인연을 끊은 것입니다

( Therefore, since Christ suffered in his body, arm yourselves also with the same attitude, because he who has suffered in his body is done with sin.)

 

4:2 이제부터는, 육신으로 살아갈 남은 때를 인간의 욕정대로 살지 말고, 하나님의 뜻대로 살아야 합니다

( As a result, he does not live the rest of his earthly life for evil human desires, but rather for the will of God.)

 

4:3 여러분은 지난날에 이방 사람들이 하고 싶어하는 일을 하였으니, 곧 방탕과 정욕과 술 취함과 환락과 연회와 가증스러운 우상숭배에 빠져 살아 왔습니다 그것은 지나간 때로 충분합니다

( For you have spent enough time in the past doing what pagans choose to do--living in debauchery, lust, drunkenness, orgies, carousing and detestable idolatry.)

 

4:4 그들은 여러분이 자기들과 함께 그런 지나친 방종에 빠지지 않는 것을 이상히 여기면서, 여러분을 비방합니다

( They think it strange that you do not plunge with them into the same flood of dissipation, and they heap abuse on you.)

 

4:5 그들은 산 사람과 죽은 사람을 심판하실 분에게 사실을 죄다 아뢰어야 합니다

( But they will have to give account to him who is ready to judge the living and the dead.)

 

4:6 죽은 사람들에게도 복음이 전해진 것은, 그들이 육신으로는 모든 사람이 심판받는 대로 심판을 받으나, 영으로는 하나님을 따라 살게 하려는 것입니다

( For this is the reason the gospel was preached even to those who are now dead, so that they might be judged according to men in regard to the body, but live according to God in regard to the spirit.)

 

4:7 만물의 마지막이 가까이 왔습니다 그러므로 정신을 차리고, 삼가 조심하여 기도하십시오

( The end of all things is near. Therefore be clear minded and self-controlled so that you can pray.)

 

4:8 무엇보다도 먼저 서로 뜨겁게 사랑하십시오 사랑은 허다한 죄를 덮어 줍니다

( Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.)

 

4:9 불평 없이 서로 따뜻하게 대접하십시오

( Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling.)

 

4:10 각 사람은 은사를 받은 대로 하나님의 여러 가지 은혜를 맡은 선한 관리인으로서 서로 봉사하십시오

( Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God's grace in its various forms.)

 

4:11 말을 하는 사람은 하나님의 말씀을 전파하는 사람답게 하고, 봉사하는 사람은 하나님께서 주시는 힘으로 봉사하는 사람답게 하십시오 그리하면 하나님이 모든 일에 예수 그리스도로 말미암아 영광을 받으실 것입니다 영광과 권세가 영원무궁하도록 그에게 있습니다 아멘

( If anyone speaks, he should do it as one speaking the very words of God. If anyone serves, he should do it with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen.)

 

그리스도인이 받을 고난

 

4:12 사랑하는 여러분, 여러분을 시험하려고 시련의 불길이 여러분 가운데 일어나더라도, 무슨 이상한 일이나 생긴 것처럼 놀라지 마십시오

( Dear friends, do not be surprised at the painful trial you are suffering, as though something strange were happening to you.)

 

4:13 그만큼 여러분은 그리스도의 고난에 동참하는 것이니, 기뻐하십시오 그러면 그의 영광이 나타날 때에 여러분은 또한 기뻐 뛰며 즐거워하게 될 것입니다

( But rejoice that you participate in the sufferings of Christ, so that you may be overjoyed when his glory is revealed.)

 

4:14 여러분이 그리스도의 이름으로 모욕을 당하면 복이 있습니다 영광의 영 곧 하나님의 영이 여러분 위에 머물러 계시기 때문입니다

( If you are insulted because of the name of Christ, you are blessed, for the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you.)

 

4:15 여러분 가운데에 아무도 살인자나 도둑이나 악을 행하는 자나 남의 일을 간섭하는 자로서 고난을 당하는 일이 없도록 하십시오

( If you suffer, it should not be as a murderer or thief or any other kind of criminal, or even as a meddler.)

 

4:16 그러나 그리스도인으로서 고난을 당하면 부끄러워하지 말고, 도리어 그 이름으로 하나님께 영광을 돌리십시오

( However, if you suffer as a Christian, do not be ashamed, but praise God that you bear that name.)

 

4:17 하나님의 집에서부터 심판을 시작할 때가 되었기 때문입니다 심판이 우리에게서 먼저 시작되면, 하나님의 복음에 순종하지 않는 자들의 마지막이 어떠하겠습니까?

( For it is time for judgment to begin with the family of God; and if it begins with us, what will the outcome be for those who do not obey the gospel of God?)

 

4:18 "의인도 겨우 구원을 받으면, 경건하지 않은 자와 죄인은 어떻게 되겠습니까?"

( And, "If it is hard for the righteous to be saved, what will become of the ungodly and the sinner?")

 

4:19 그러므로 하나님의 뜻을 따라 고난을 받는 사람은, 선한 일을 하면서 자기의 영혼을 신실하신 조물주께 맡기십시오

( So then, those who suffer according to God's will should commit themselves to their faithful Creator and continue to do good.)

베드로전서 5장

 

하나님의 양 떼를 돌보십시오

 

5:1 나는 여러분 가운데 장로로 있는 이들에게, 같은 장로로서, 또한 그리스도의 고난의 증인이요 앞으로 나타날 영광을 함께 누릴 사람으로서 권면합니다

( To the elders among you, I appeal as a fellow elder, a witness of Christ's sufferings and one who also will share in the glory to be revealed:)

 

5:2 여러분 가운데 있는 하나님의 양 떼를 먹이십시오 억지로 할 것이 아니라, 하나님의 뜻을 따라 자진하여 하고, 더러운 이익을 탐하여 할 것이 아니라, 기쁜 마음으로 하십시오

( Be shepherds of God's flock that is under your care, serving as overseers--not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be; not greedy for money, but eager to serve;)

 

5:3 여러분은 여러분이 맡은 사람들을 지배하려고 하지 말고, 양 떼의 모범이 되십시오

( not lording it over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock.)

 

5:4 그러면 목자장이 나타나실 때에 변하지 않는 영광의 면류관을 얻을 것입니다

( And when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that will never fade away.)

 

5:5 젊은이 여러분, 이와 같이 여러분도 나이가 많은 이들에게 복종하십시오 모두가 서로서로 겸손의 옷을 입으십시오 하나님께서는 교만한 자를 물리치시고, 겸손한 사람에게 은혜를 베푸십니다

( Young men, in the same way be submissive to those who are older. All of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because, "God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.")

 

5:6 그러므로 여러분은 하나님의 능력의 손 아래로 자기를 낮추십시오 때가 되면, 하나님께서 여러분을 높이실 것입니다

( Humble yourselves, therefore, under God's mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time.)

 

5:7 여러분의 걱정을 모두 하나님께 맡기십시오 하나님께서는 여러분을 돌보고 계십니다

( Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.)

 

5:8 정신을 차리고, 깨어 있으십시오 여러분의 원수 악마가, 우는 사자 같이 삼킬 자를 찾아 두루 다닙니다

( Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.)

 

5:9 믿음에 굳게 서서, 악마를 맞서 싸우십시오 여러분도 아는 대로, 세상에 있는 여러분의 형제자매들도 다 같은 고난을 겪고 있습니다

( Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kind of sufferings.)

 

5:10 모든 은혜를 주시는 하나님, 곧 그리스도 안에서 여러분을 자기의 영원한 영광에 불러들이신 분께서, 잠시동안 고난을 받은 여러분을 친히 온전하게 하시고, 굳게 세워 주시고, 강하게 하시고, 기초를 튼튼하게 하여 주실 것입니다

( And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast.)

 

5:11 권세가 영원히 하나님께 있기를 빕니다 아멘

( To him be the power for ever and ever. Amen.)
