사도행전 10장

 

베드로가 고넬료를 만나다

 

10:1 가이사랴에 고넬료라는 사람이 있었는데, 그는 이탈리아 부대라는 로마 군대의 백부장이었다

( At Caesarea there was a man named Cornelius, a centurion in what was known as the Italian Regiment.)

 

10:2 그는 경건한 사람으로 온 가족과 더불어 하나님을 두려워하며, 유대 백성에게 자선을 많이 베풀며, 늘 하나님께 기도하는 사람이었다

( He and all his family were devout and God-fearing; he gave generously to those in need and prayed to God regularly.)

 

10:3 어느 날 오후 세 시쯤에, 그는 환상 가운데에서 하나님의 천사를 똑똑히 보았다 그가 보니, 천사가 자기에게로 들어와서, "고넬료야!" 하고 말을 하는 것이었다

( One day at about three in the afternoon he had a vision. He distinctly saw an angel of God, who came to him and said, "Cornelius!")

 

10:4 고넬료가 천사를 주시하여 보고, 두려워서 물었다 "천사님, 무슨 일입니까?" 천사가 대답하였다 "네 기도와 자선 행위가 하나님 앞에 상달되어서, 하나님께서 기억하고 계신다

( Cornelius stared at him in fear. "What is it, Lord?" he asked. The angel answered, "Your prayers and gifts to the poor have come up as a memorial offering before God.)

 

10:5 이제, 욥바로 사람을 보내어, 베드로라고도 하는 시몬이라는 사람을 데려오너라

( Now send men to Joppa to bring back a man named Simon who is called Peter.)

 

10:6 그는 무두장이인 시몬의 집에 묵고 있는데, 그 집은 바닷가에 있다"

( He is staying with Simon the tanner, whose house is by the sea.")

 

10:7 그에게 말하던 천사가 떠났을 때에, 고넬료는 하인 두 사람과 자기 부하 가운데서 경건한 병사 하나를 불러서,

( When the angel who spoke to him had gone, Cornelius called two of his servants and a devout soldier who was one of his attendants.)

 

10:8 모든 일을 이야기해 주고, 그들을 욥바로 보냈다

( He told them everything that had happened and sent them to Joppa.)

 

10:9 이튿날 저들이 길을 가다가, 욥바에 가까이 이르렀을 때에, 베드로는 기도하려고 지붕으로 올라갔다 때는 오정쯤이었다

( About noon the following day as they were on their journey and approaching the city, Peter went up on the roof to pray.)

 

10:10 그는 배가 고파서, 무엇을 좀 먹었으면 하는 생각이 들었다 사람들이 음식을 장만하는 동안에, 베드로는 황홀경에 빠져 들어갔다

( He became hungry and wanted something to eat, and while the meal was being prepared, he fell into a trance.)

 

10:11 그는, 하늘이 열리고, 큰 보자기 같은 그릇이 네 귀퉁이가 끈에 매달려서 땅으로 드리워져 내려오는 것을 보았다

( He saw heaven opened and something like a large sheet being let down to earth by its four corners.)

 

10:12 그 안에는 온갖 네 발 짐승들과 땅에 기어다니는 것들과 공중의 새들이 골고루 들어 있었다

( It contained all kinds of four-footed animals, as well as reptiles of the earth and birds of the air.)

 

10:13 그 때에 "베드로야, 일어나서 잡아먹어라" 하는 음성이 들려왔다

( Then a voice told him, "Get up, Peter. Kill and eat.")

 

10:14 베드로가 대답하였다 "주님, 절대로 그럴 수 없습니다 나는 속되고 부정한 것은 한 번도 먹은 일이 없습니다"

( "Surely not, Lord!" Peter replied. "I have never eaten anything impure or unclean.")

 

10:15 그랬더니 두 번째로 음성이 다시 들려왔다 "하나님께서 깨끗하게 하신 것을 속되다고 하지 말아라"

( The voice spoke to him a second time, "Do not call anything impure that God has made clean.")

 

10:16 이런 일이 세 번 있은 뒤에, 그 그릇은 갑자기 하늘로 들려서 올라갔다

( This happened three times, and immediately the sheet was taken back to heaven.)

 

10:17 베드로가, 자기가 본 환상이 대체 무슨 뜻일까 하면서, 속으로 어리둥절하고 있는데, 마침 고넬료가 보낸 사람들이 시몬의 집을 찾아서, 문 앞에 다가섰다

( While Peter was wondering about the meaning of the vision, the men sent by Cornelius found out where Simon's house was and stopped at the gate.)

 

10:18 그들은 큰 소리로 베드로라는 시몬이 여기에 묵고 있는지를 묻고 있었다

( They called out, asking if Simon who was known as Peter was staying there.)

 

10:19 베드로가 그 환상을 곰곰이 생각하고 있는데 성령께서 말씀하셨다 "보아라, 세 사람이 너를 찾고 있다

( While Peter was still thinking about the vision, the Spirit said to him, "Simon, three men are looking for you.)

 

10:20 일어나서 내려가거라 그들은 내가 보낸 사람들이니, 의심하지 말고 함께 가거라"

( So get up and go downstairs. Do not hesitate to go with them, for I have sent them.")

 

10:21 그래서 베드로는 그들에게 내려가서 물었다 "보시오, 내가 당신들이 찾고 있는 사람이오 무슨 일로 오셨소?"

( Peter went down and said to the men, "I'm the one you're looking for. Why have you come?")

 

10:22 그들은 베드로에게 대답하였다 "고넬료라는 백부장이 보내서 왔습니다 그는 의로운 사람이요, 하나님을 두려워하는 사람입니다 그는 온 유대 백성에게 존경을 받고 있습니다 그는, 사람을 보내어 당신을 집으로 모셔다가 말씀을 들으라는 지시를, 거룩한 천사에게서 받았습니다"

( The men replied, "We have come from Cornelius the centurion. He is a righteous and God-fearing man, who is respected by all the Jewish people. A holy angel told him to have you come to his house so that he could hear what you have to say.")

 

10:23 베드로는 그들을 불러들여서 묵게 하였다 이튿날 베드로는 일어나서 그들과 함께 떠났는데, 욥바에 있는 신도 몇 사람도 그와 함께 갔다

( Then Peter invited the men into the house to be his guests. The next day Peter started out with them, and some of the brothers from Joppa went along.)

 

10:24 그 다음 날 베드로는 가이사랴에 들어갔다 고넬료는 자기 친척들과 가까운 친구들을 불러놓고, 그들을 기다리고 있다가,

( The following day he arrived in Caesarea. Cornelius was expecting them and had called together his relatives and close friends.)

 

10:25 베드로가 들어오니, 마중 나와서, 그의 발 앞에 엎드려서 절을 하였다

( As Peter entered the house, Cornelius met him and fell at his feet in reverence.)

 

10:26 그러자 베드로는 "일어나십시오, 나도 역시 사람입니다" 하고 말하면서, 그를 일으켜 세웠다

( But Peter made him get up. "Stand up," he said, "I am only a man myself.")

 

10:27 그리고 베드로는 고넬료와 말하면서 집 안으로 들어가서, 많은 사람이 모여 있는 것을 보고,

( Talking with him, Peter went inside and found a large gathering of people.)

 

10:28 그들에게 말하였다 "유대 사람으로서 이방 사람과 사귀거나 가까이하는 일이 불법이라는 것은 여러분도 아십니다 그런데 하나님께서는 나에게, 사람을 속되다거나 부정하다거나 하지 말라고 지시하셨습니다

( He said to them: "You are well aware that it is against our law for a Jew to associate with a Gentile or visit him. But God has shown me that I should not call any man impure or unclean.)

 

10:29 그래서 여러분이 나를 부르러 사람들을 보냈을 때에 반대하지 않고 왔습니다 그런데 묻고 싶은 것이 있습니다 무슨 일로 나를 오라고 하셨습니까?"

( So when I was sent for, I came without raising any objection. May I ask why you sent for me?")

 

10:30 고넬료가 대답하였다 "나흘 전 이맘때쯤에, 내가 집에서 오후 세 시에 드리는 기도를 하고 있었습니다 그런데 갑자기 어떤 사람이 눈부신 옷을 입고, 내 앞에 서서

( Cornelius answered: "Four days ago I was in my house praying at this hour, at three in the afternoon. Suddenly a man in shining clothes stood before me)

 

10:31 말하기를 '고넬료야, 하나님께서 네 기도를 들으시고, 네 자선 행위를 기억하고 계신다

( and said, 'Cornelius, God has heard your prayer and remembered your gifts to the poor.)

 

10:32 욥바로 사람을 보내어, 베드로라고도 하는 시몬을 불러오너라 그는 바닷가에 있는 무두장이 시몬의 집에 묵고 있다' 하였습니다

( Send to Joppa for Simon who is called Peter. He is a guest in the home of Simon the tanner, who lives by the sea.')

 

10:33 그래서 나는 곧 당신에게 사람을 보냈던 것입니다 그런데 이렇게 와 주시니, 고맙습니다 지금 우리는 주님께서 당신에게 지시하신 모든 말씀을 들으려고, 다같이 하나님 앞에 모여 있습니다"

( So I sent for you immediately, and it was good of you to come. Now we are all here in the presence of God to listen to everything the Lord has commanded you to tell us.")

 

베드로가 고넬료의 집에서 설교하다

 

10:34 베드로가 입을 열어 말하였다 "나는 참으로, 하나님께서는 사람을 외모로 가리지 아니하시는 분이시고,

( Then Peter began to speak: "I now realize how true it is that God does not show favoritism)

 

10:35 하나님을 두려워하며, 의를 행하는 사람은 그가 어느 민족에 속하여 있든지, 다 받아 주신다는 것을 깨달았습니다

( but accepts men from every nation who fear him and do what is right.)

 

10:36 하나님께서는 이스라엘 자손에게 말씀을 보내셨는데, 곧 예수 그리스도를 통하여 평화를 전하셨습니다 예수 그리스도는 만민의 주님이십니다

( You know the message God sent to the people of Israel, telling the good news of peace through Jesus Christ, who is Lord of all.)

 

10:37 여러분이 아시는 대로, 이 일은 요한의 세례 사역이 끝난 뒤에, 갈릴리에서 시작하여서, 온 유대 지방에서 이루어졌습니다

( You know what has happened throughout Judea, beginning in Galilee after the baptism that John preached--)

 

10:38 하나님께서 나사렛 예수에게 성령과 능력을 부어 주셨습니다 이 예수는 두루 다니시면서 선한 일을 행하시고, 마귀에게 억눌린 사람들을 모두 고쳐 주셨습니다 그것은 하나님께서 그와 함께 하셨기 때문입니다

( how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power, and how he went around doing good and healing all who were under the power of the devil, because God was with him.)

 

10:39 우리는 예수께서 유대 지방과 예루살렘에서 행하신 모든 일의 증인입니다 사람들이 그를 나무에 달아 죽였지만,

( "We are witnesses of everything he did in the country of the Jews and in Jerusalem. They killed him by hanging him on a tree,)

 

10:40 하나님께서 그를 사흗날에 살리시고, 나타나 보이게 해주셨습니다

( but God raised him from the dead on the third day and caused him to be seen.)

 

10:41 그를 모든 사람에게 나타나게 하신 것이 아니라, 하나님께서 미리 택하여 주신 증인인 우리에게 나타나게 하셨습니다 그가 죽은 사람들 가운데서 살아나신 뒤에, 우리는 그와 함께 먹기도 하고 마시기도 하였습니다

( He was not seen by all the people, but by witnesses whom God had already chosen--by us who ate and drank with him after he rose from the dead.)

 

10:42 이 예수께서 우리에게 명하시기를, 하나님께서 자기를 살아 있는 사람들과 죽은 사람들의 심판자로 정하신 것을 사람들에게 선포하고 증언하라고 하셨습니다

( He commanded us to preach to the people and to testify that he is the one whom God appointed as judge of the living and the dead.)

 

10:43 이 예수를 두고 모든 예언자가 증언하기를, 그를 믿는 사람은 누구든지 그의 이름으로 죄 사함을 받는다고 하였습니다"

( All the prophets testify about him that everyone who believes in him receives forgiveness of sins through his name.")

 

이방 사람들에게도 성령이 내리다

 

10:44 베드로가 이런 말을 하고 있을 때에, 그 말을 듣는 모든 사람에게 성령이 내리셨다

( While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit came on all who heard the message.)

 

10:45 할례를 받은 사람들 가운데서 믿게 된 사람으로서 베드로와 함께 온 사람들은, 이방 사람들에게도 성령을 선물로 부어 주신 사실에 놀랐다

( The circumcised believers who had come with Peter were astonished that the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out even on the Gentiles.)

 

10:46 그들은, 이방 사람들이 방언으로 말하는 것과 하나님을 높이 찬양하는 것을 들었기 때문이다 그 때에 베드로가 말하였다

( For they heard them speaking in tongues and praising God. Then Peter said,)

 

10:47 "이 사람들도 우리와 마찬가지로 성령을 받았으니, 이들에게 물로 세례를 주는 일을 누가 막을 수 있겠습니까?"

( "Can anyone keep these people from being baptized with water? They have received the Holy Spirit just as we have.")

 

10:48 그런 다음에, 그는 그들에게 명해서, 예수 그리스도의 이름으로 세례를 받게 하였다 그들은 베드로에게 며칠 더 머물기를 청하였다

( So he ordered that they be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. Then they asked Peter to stay with them for a few days.)

사도행전 11장

 

베드로가 예루살렘 교회에 보고하다

 

11:1 사도들과 유대에 있는 신도들이, 이방 사람들도 하나님의 말씀을 받아들였다는 소식을 들었다

( The apostles and the brothers throughout Judea heard that the Gentiles also had received the word of God.)

 

11:2 그래서 베드로가 예루살렘에 올라왔을 때에, 할례를 받은 사람들이

( So when Peter went up to Jerusalem, the circumcised believers criticized him)

 

11:3 "당신은 할례를 받지 않은 사람들의 집에 들어가서, 그들과 함께 음식을 먹은 사람이오" 하고 그를 나무랐다

( and said, "You went into the house of uncircumcised men and ate with them.")

 

11:4 이에 베드로가 그 사이에 일어난 일을 차례대로 그들에게 설명하였다

( Peter began and explained everything to them precisely as it had happened:)

 

11:5 "내가 욥바 성에서 기도를 하고 있었습니다 그 때에 나는 황홀경 가운데서 환상을 보았는데, 큰 보자기와 같은 그릇이, 네 귀퉁이가 끈에 매달려서 하늘에서 드리워져 내려서 내 앞에까지 왔습니다

( "I was in the city of Joppa praying, and in a trance I saw a vision. I saw something like a large sheet being let down from heaven by its four corners, and it came down to where I was.)

 

11:6 그 안을 자세히 들여다보니, 땅 위의 네 발 짐승들과 들짐승들과 기어다니는 것들과 공중의 새들이 있었습니다

( I looked into it and saw four-footed animals of the earth, wild beasts, reptiles, and birds of the air.)

 

11:7 그리고 '베드로야, 일어나서 잡아먹어라' 하는 음성이 내게 들려왔습니다

( Then I heard a voice telling me, 'Get up, Peter. Kill and eat.')

 

11:8 그래서 나는 '주님, 절대로 그럴 수 없습니다 나는 속된 것이나, 정결하지 않은 것을 먹은 일이 없습니다' 하고 말하였습니다

( "I replied, 'Surely not, Lord! Nothing impure or unclean has ever entered my mouth.')

 

11:9 그랬더니 '하나님께서 깨끗하게 하신 것을 속되다고 하지 말아라' 하는 음성이 두 번째로 하늘에서 들려왔습니다

( "The voice spoke from heaven a second time, 'Do not call anything impure that God has made clean.')

 

11:10 이런 일이 세 번 일어났습니다 그리고서 모든 것은 다시 하늘로 들려 올라갔습니다

( This happened three times, and then it was all pulled up to heaven again.)

 

11:11 바로 그 때에 사람들 셋이 우리가 묵고 있는 집에 도착하였는데, 그들은 가이사랴에서 내게 보낸 사람들이었습니다

( "Right then three men who had been sent to me from Caesarea stopped at the house where I was staying.)

 

11:12 성령이 내게, 의심하지 말고 그들과 함께 가라고 하셨습니다 그래서 이 여섯 형제도 나와 함께 가서, 우리는 그 사람의 집으로 들어갔습니다

( The Spirit told me to have no hesitation about going with them. These six brothers also went with me, and we entered the man's house.)

 

11:13 그 사람은, 자기가 천사를 본 이야기를 우리에게 해주었습니다 곧 천사가 그의 집에 와서 서더니, 그에게 말하기를 '욥바로 사람을 보내어, 베드로라고도 하는 시몬을 불러오너라

( He told us how he had seen an angel appear in his house and say, 'Send to Joppa for Simon who is called Peter.)

 

11:14 그가 네게 너와 네 온 집안이 구원을 받을 말씀을 일러줄 것이다' 하더라는 것입니다

( He will bring you a message through which you and all your household will be saved.')

 

11:15 내가 말을 하기 시작하니, 성령이 처음에 우리에게 내리시던 것과 같이, 그들에게도 내리셨습니다

( "As I began to speak, the Holy Spirit came on them as he had come on us at the beginning.)

 

11:16 그 때에 나는 '요한은 물로 세례를 주었지만, 너희는 성령으로 세례를 받을 것이다' 하신 주님의 말씀이 생각났습니다

( Then I remembered what the Lord had said: 'John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.')

 

11:17 그러므로 하나님께서는, 우리가 주 예수 그리스도를 믿을 때에 우리에게 주신 것과 같은 선물을 그들에게 주셨는데, 내가 누구이기에 감히 하나님을 거역할 수 있겠습니까?"

( So if God gave them the same gift as he gave us, who believed in the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I to think that I could oppose God?")

 

11:18 이 말을 듣고 그들은 잠잠하였다 그들은 하나님께 영광을 돌리고 "이제 하나님께서는, 이방 사람들에게도 회개하여 생명에 이르는 길을 열어 주셨다" 하고 말하였다

( When they heard this, they had no further objections and praised God, saying, "So then, God has granted even the Gentiles repentance unto life.")

 

안디옥 교회

 

11:19 스데반에게 가해진 박해 때문에 흩어진 사람들이 페니키아와 키프로스와 안디옥까지 가서, 유대 사람들에게만 말씀을 전하였다

( Now those who had been scattered by the persecution in connection with Stephen traveled as far as Phoenicia, Cyprus and Antioch, telling the message only to Jews.)

 

11:20 그런데 그들 가운데는 키프로스 사람과 구레네 사람 몇이 있었는데, 그들은 안디옥에 이르러서, 그리스 사람들에게도 말을 하여 주 예수를 전하였다

( Some of them, however, men from Cyprus and Cyrene, went to Antioch and began to speak to Greeks also, telling them the good news about the Lord Jesus.)

 

11:21 주님의 손이 그들과 함께 하시니, 수많은 사람이 믿고 주님께로 돌아왔다

( The Lord's hand was with them, and a great number of people believed and turned to the Lord.)

 

11:22 예루살렘 교회가 이 소식을 듣고서, 바나바를 안디옥으로 보냈다

( News of this reached the ears of the church at Jerusalem, and they sent Barnabas to Antioch.)

 

11:23 바나바가 가서, 하나님의 은혜가 내린 것을 보고 기뻐하였고, 모든 사람에게 굳센 마음으로 주님을 의지하라고 권하였다

( When he arrived and saw the evidence of the grace of God, he was glad and encouraged them all to remain true to the Lord with all their hearts.)

 

11:24 바나바는 착한 사람이요, 성령과 믿음이 충만한 사람이었다 그래서 많은 사람이 주님께로 나아왔다

( He was a good man, full of the Holy Spirit and faith, and a great number of people were brought to the Lord.)

 

11:25 바나바는 사울을 찾으려고 다소로 가서,

( Then Barnabas went to Tarsus to look for Saul,)

 

11:26 그를 만나 안디옥으로 데려왔다 두 사람은 일 년 동안 줄곧 거기에 머물면서, 교회에서 모임을 가지고, 많은 사람을 가르쳤다 제자들은 안디옥에서 처음으로 '그리스도인'이라고 불리었다

( and when he found him, he brought him to Antioch. So for a whole year Barnabas and Saul met with the church and taught great numbers of people. The disciples were called Christians first at Antioch.)

 

11:27 그 무렵에 예언자 몇이 예루살렘에서 안디옥에 내려왔다

( During this time some prophets came down from Jerusalem to Antioch.)

 

11:28 그 가운데 아가보라는 사람이 성령의 감동을 받아서, 일어나, 온 세계에 큰 기근이 들 것이라고 예언하였다 바로 그 기근이 글라우디오 황제 때에 들었다

( One of them, named Agabus, stood up and through the Spirit predicted that a severe famine would spread over the entire Roman world. (This happened during the reign of Claudius.))

 

11:29 그래서 제자들은 각각 자기 형편에 따라 몫을 정하여, 유대에 사는 신도들에게 구제금을 보내기로 결정하였다

( The disciples, each according to his ability, decided to provide help for the brothers living in Judea.)

 

11:30 그들은 그대로 실행해서, 바나바와 사울 편에 그것을 장로들에게 보냈다

( This they did, sending their gift to the elders by Barnabas and Saul.)

사도행전 12장

 

야고보의 순교와 베드로의 투옥

 

12:1 이 무렵에 헤롯 왕이 손을 뻗쳐서, 교회에 속한 몇몇 사람을 해하였다

( It was about this time that King Herod arrested some who belonged to the church, intending to persecute them.)

 

12:2 그는 먼저 요한과 형제간인 야고보를 칼로 죽였다

( He had James, the brother of John, put to death with the sword.)

 

12:3 헤롯은 유대 사람들이 이 일을 기뻐하는 것을 보고, 이제는 베드로까지 잡으려고 하였다 때는 무교절 기간이었다

( When he saw that this pleased the Jews, he proceeded to seize Peter also. This happened during the Feast of Unleavened Bread.)

 

12:4 그는 베드로도 잡아서 감옥에 가두고, 네 명으로 짠 경비병 네 패에게 맡겨서 지키게 하였다 유월절이 지나면, 백성들 앞에 그를 끌어낼 속셈이었다

( After arresting him, he put him in prison, handing him over to be guarded by four squads of four soldiers each. Herod intended to bring him out for public trial after the Passover.)

 

12:5 이렇게 되어서, 베드로가 감옥에 갇히고, 교회는 그를 위하여 하나님께 간절히 기도하였다

( So Peter was kept in prison, but the church was earnestly praying to God for him.)

 

베드로가 감옥에서 놓여 나다

 

12:6 헤롯이 베드로를 백성들 앞에 끌어내기로 한 그 전날 밤이었다 베드로는 두 쇠사슬에 묶여, 군인 두 사람 틈에서 잠들어 있었고, 문 앞에는 파수꾼들이 감옥을 지키고 있었다

( The night before Herod was to bring him to trial, Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains, and sentries stood guard at the entrance.)

 

12:7 그런데 갑자기 주님의 천사가 나타나고, 감방에 빛이 환히 비치었다 천사가 베드로의 옆구리를 쳐서 깨우고 말하기를 "빨리 일어서라" 하였다 그러자 쇠사슬이 그의 두 손목에서 풀렸다

( Suddenly an angel of the Lord appeared and a light shone in the cell. He struck Peter on the side and woke him up. "Quick, get up!" he said, and the chains fell off Peter's wrists.)

 

12:8 천사가 베드로에게 "띠를 띠고, 신을 신어라" 하고 말하니, 베드로가 그대로 하였다 또 천사가 그에게 "겉옷을 두르고, 나를 따라오너라" 하니,

( Then the angel said to him, "Put on your clothes and sandals." And Peter did so. "Wrap your cloak around you and follow me," the angel told him.)

 

12:9 베드로가 감방에서 나와서, 천사를 따라갔다 베드로는 천사가 하는 일이 참인 줄 모르고, 자기가 환상을 보고 있는 것이라고 생각하였다

( Peter followed him out of the prison, but he had no idea that what the angel was doing was really happening; he thought he was seeing a vision.)

 

12:10 그들이 첫째 초소와 둘째 초소를 지나서, 시내로 통하는 철문에 이르니, 문이 저절로 열렸다 그래서 그들은 바깥으로 나와서, 거리를 하나 지났다 그 때에 갑자기 천사가 떠나갔다

( They passed the first and second guards and came to the iron gate leading to the city. It opened for them by itself, and they went through it. When they had walked the length of one street, suddenly the angel left him.)

 

12:11 그 때에야 베드로가 정신이 나서 말하였다 "이제야 참으로 알겠다 주님께서 주님의 천사를 보내셔서, 헤롯의 손에서, 그리고 유대 백성이 꾸민 모든 음모에서, 나를 건져 주셨다"

( Then Peter came to himself and said, "Now I know without a doubt that the Lord sent his angel and rescued me from Herod's clutches and from everything the Jewish people were anticipating.")

 

12:12 이런 사실을 깨닫고서, 베드로는, 마가라고도 하는 요한의 어머니 마리아의 집으로 갔다 거기에는 많은 사람이 모여서 기도하고 있었다

( When this had dawned on him, he went to the house of Mary the mother of John, also called Mark, where many people had gathered and were praying.)

 

12:13 베드로가 대문을 두드리니, 로데라는 어린 여종이 맞으러 나왔다

( Peter knocked at the outer entrance, and a servant girl named Rhoda came to answer the door.)

 

12:14 그 여종은 베드로의 목소리를 알아듣고, 너무 기뻐서, 문을 열지도 않고 도로 달려들어가서, 대문 앞에 베드로가 서 있다고 알렸다

( When she recognized Peter's voice, she was so overjoyed she ran back without opening it and exclaimed, "Peter is at the door!")

 

12:15 사람들이 여종에게 "네가 미쳤구나" 하고 말하자, 여종은 참말이라고 우겼다 그러자 그들은 "베드로의 천사일거야" 하고 말하였다

( "You're out of your mind," they told her. When she kept insisting that it was so, they said, "It must be his angel.")

 

12:16 그 동안에 베드로가 줄곧 문을 두드리니, 사람들이 문을 열어서 베드로를 보고, 깜짝 놀랐다

( But Peter kept on knocking, and when they opened the door and saw him, they were astonished.)

 

12:17 베드로는 손을 흔들어서 그들을 조용하게 하고, 주님께서 자기를 감옥에서 인도하여 내신 일을 이야기하였다 그리고 그는 "이 사실을 야고보와 다른 신도들에게 알리시오" 하고 말하고는, 거기에서 떠나 다른 곳으로 갔다

( Peter motioned with his hand for them to be quiet and described how the Lord had brought him out of prison. "Tell James and the brothers about this," he said, and then he left for another place.)

 

12:18 날이 새니, 군인들 사이에서는 베드로가 없어진 일로 작지 않은 소동이 일어났다

( In the morning, there was no small commotion among the soldiers as to what had become of Peter.)

 

12:19 헤롯은 샅샅이 찾아보았으나, 베드로를 찾지 못하고, 경비병들을 문초한 뒤에, 명령을 내려서 그들을 사형에 처하였다 그런 다음에, 헤롯은 유대를 떠나 가이사랴로 내려가서, 거기에서 한동안 지냈다

( After Herod had a thorough search made for him and did not find him, he cross-examined the guards and ordered that they be executed. Then Herod went from Judea to Caesarea and stayed there a while.)

 

헤롯의 죽음

 

12:20 그런데 두로와 시돈 사람들은 헤롯에게 몹시 노여움을 사고 있었다 그래서 그들은 뜻을 모아서, 왕을 찾아갔다 그들은 왕의 침실 시종 블라스도를 설득하여, 그를 통해서 헤롯에게 화평을 청하였다 그들의 지방이 왕의 영토에서 식량을 공급받고 있었으므로, 이렇게 할 수밖에 없었다

( He had been quarreling with the people of Tyre and Sidon; they now joined together and sought an audience with him. Having secured the support of Blastus, a trusted personal servant of the king, they asked for peace, because they depended on the king's country for their food supply.)

 

12:21 지정된 날에, 헤롯이 용포를 걸쳐 입고, 왕좌에 좌정하여 그들에게 연설하였다

( On the appointed day Herod, wearing his royal robes, sat on his throne and delivered a public address to the people.)

 

12:22 그 때에 군중이 "신의 소리다 사람의 소리가 아니다" 하고 외쳤다

( They shouted, "This is the voice of a god, not of a man.")

 

12:23 그러자 즉시로 주님의 천사가 헤롯을 내리쳤다 헤롯이 하나님께 영광을 돌리지 않았기 때문이다 그는 벌레에게 먹혀서 죽고 말았다

( Immediately, because Herod did not give praise to God, an angel of the Lord struck him down, and he was eaten by worms and died.)

 

12:24 하나님의 말씀이 점점 더 널리 퍼지고, 믿는 사람이 많아졌다

( But the word of God continued to increase and spread.)

 

12:25 바나바와 사울은 그들의 사명을 마치고, 마가라고도 하는 요한을 데리고 예루살렘에서 돌아왔다

( When Barnabas and Saul had finished their mission, they returned from Jerusalem, taking with them John, also called Mark.)
