로마서 4장

 

아브라함의 믿음

 

4:1 그러면 육신상으로 우리의 조상인 아브라함이 무엇을 얻었다고 우리가 말할 수 있겠습니까?

( What then shall we say that Abraham, our forefather, discovered in this matter?)

 

4:2 아브라함이 행위로 의롭게 되었더라면, 그에게는 자랑할 것이 있었을 것입니다 그러나 하나님 앞에서는 자랑할 것이 없습니다

( If, in fact, Abraham was justified by works, he had something to boast about--but not before God.)

 

4:3 성경이 무엇이라고 말합니까? "아브라함이 하나님을 믿으니, 하나님께서 그를 의롭다고 여기셨다" 하였습니다

( What does the Scripture say? "Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness.")

 

4:4 일을 하는 사람에게는 품삯을 은혜로 주는 것으로 치지 않고 당연한 보수로 주는 것으로 생각합니다

( Now when a man works, his wages are not credited to him as a gift, but as an obligation.)

 

4:5 그러나 경건하지 못한 사람을 의롭다고 하시는 분을 믿는 사람은, 비록 아무 공로가 없어도, 그의 믿음이 의롭다고 인정을 받습니다

( However, to the man who does not work but trusts God who justifies the wicked, his faith is credited as righteousness.)

 

4:6 그래서 행한 것이 없어도, 하나님께서 의롭다고 여겨 주시는 사람이 받을 복을 다윗도 다음과 같이 말하였습니다

( David says the same thing when he speaks of the blessedness of the man to whom God credits righteousness apart from works:)

 

4:7 "하나님께서 잘못을 용서해 주시고 죄를 덮어 주신 사람은 복이 있다

( "Blessed are they whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered.)

 

4:8 주님께서 죄 없다고 인정해 주실 사람은 복이 있다"

( Blessed is the man whose sin the Lord will never count against him.")

 

4:9 그러면 이러한 복은 할례를 받은 사람에게만 내리는 것입니까? 그렇지 않으면 할례를 받지 않은 사람에게도 내리는 것입니까? 우리는 앞에서 말하기를 "하나님께서 아브라함의 믿음을 의로 여기셨다" 하였습니다

( Is this blessedness only for the circumcised, or also for the uncircumcised? We have been saying that Abraham's faith was credited to him as righteousness.)

 

4:10 그러면 어떻게 아브라함이 그러한 인정을 받았습니까? 그가 할례를 받은 후에 그렇게 되었습니까? 그렇지 않으면 할례를 받기 전에 그렇게 되었습니까? 그것은 할례를 받은 후에 된 일이 아니라, 할례를 받기 전에 된 일입니다

( Under what circumstances was it credited? Was it after he was circumcised, or before? It was not after, but before!)

 

4:11 아브라함이 할례라는 표를 받았는데, 그것은 그가 할례를 받지 않은 상태에서 이미 얻은 믿음의 의를 확증하는 것이었습니다 그래서 그는 할례를 받지 않고도 믿는 모든 사람의 조상이 되었으니, 이것은 할례를 받지 않은 사람들도 의롭다는 인정을 받게 하려는 것이었습니다

( And he received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness that he had by faith while he was still uncircumcised. So then, he is the father of all who believe but have not been circumcised, in order that righteousness might be credited to them.)

 

4:12 또 그는 할례를 받은 사람의 조상이 되기도 하였습니다 다시 말하면, 할례만을 받은 것이 아니라 또한 우리 조상 아브라함이 할례를 받지 않은 상태에서 걸어간 믿음의 발자취를 따라가는 사람들의 조상이 되었습니다

( And he is also the father of the circumcised who not only are circumcised but who also walk in the footsteps of the faith that our father Abraham had before he was circumcised.)

 

믿음으로 약속을 주시다

 

4:13 아브라함이나 그 자손에게 주신 하나님의 약속, 곧 그들이 세상을 물려받을 상속자가 되리라는 것은, 율법으로 말미암은 것이 아니라, 믿음의 의로 말미암은 것입니다

( It was not through law that Abraham and his offspring received the promise that he would be heir of the world, but through the righteousness that comes by faith.)

 

4:14 율법을 의지하는 사람들이 상속자가 된다면, 믿음은 무의미한 것이 되고, 약속은 헛된 것이 됩니다

( For if those who live by law are heirs, faith has no value and the promise is worthless,)

 

4:15 율법은 진노를 불러옵니다 율법이 없는 곳에는 범법도 없습니다

( because law brings wrath. And where there is no law there is no transgression.)

 

4:16 이런 까닭에, 이 약속은 믿음에 근거한 것입니다 그것은 하나님께서 아브라함에게 이 약속을 은혜로 주셔서 이것을 그의 모든 후손에게도, 곧 율법으로 사는 사람들에게만이 아니라 아브라함이 지닌 믿음으로 사는 사람들에게도 보장하시려는 것입니다 아브라함은 우리 모두의 조상입니다

( Therefore, the promise comes by faith, so that it may be by grace and may be guaranteed to all Abraham's offspring--not only to those who are of the law but also to those who are of the faith of Abraham. He is the father of us all.)

 

4:17 이것은 성경에 기록된 대로 "내가 너를 많은 민족의 조상으로 세웠다" 함과 같습니다 이 약속은, 그가 믿은 하나님, 다시 말하면, 죽은 사람들을 살리시며 없는 것들을 불러내어 있는 것이 되게 하시는 하나님께서 보장하신 것입니다

( As it is written: "I have made you a father of many nations." He is our father in the sight of God, in whom he believed--the God who gives life to the dead and calls things that are not as though they were.)

 

4:18 아브라함은 희망이 사라진 때에도 바라면서 믿었으므로 "너의 자손이 이와 같이 많아질 것이다" 하신 말씀대로, 많은 민족의 조상이 되었습니다

( Against all hope, Abraham in hope believed and so became the father of many nations, just as it had been said to him, "So shall your offspring be.")

 

4:19 그는 나이가 백 세가 되어서, 자기 몸이 [이미] 죽은 것이나 다름없고, 또한 사라의 태도 죽은 것이나 다름없는 줄 알면서도, 그는 믿음이 약해지지 않았습니다

( Without weakening in his faith, he faced the fact that his body was as good as dead--since he was about a hundred years old--and that Sarah's womb was also dead.)

 

4:20 그는 하나님의 약속을 믿고 의심하지 않았습니다 오히려 그는 믿음이 굳세어져서 하나님께 영광을 돌렸습니다

( Yet he did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God,)

 

4:21 그는, 하나님께서 스스로 약속하신 바를 능히 이루실 것이라고 확신하였습니다

( being fully persuaded that God had power to do what he had promised.)

 

4:22 그래서 하나님께서는 이것을 보시고 "그를 의롭다고 여겨 주셨습니다"

( This is why "it was credited to him as righteousness.")

 

4:23 "그가 의롭다는 인정을 받았다" 하는 말은, 아브라함만을 위하여 기록된 것이 아니라,

( The words "it was credited to him" were written not for him alone,)

 

4:24 하나님께서 의롭다고 여겨 주실 우리, 곧 우리 주 예수를 죽은 사람들 가운데서 살리신 분을 믿는 우리까지도 위한 것입니다

( but also for us, to whom God will credit righteousness--for us who believe in him who raised Jesus our Lord from the dead.)

 

4:25 예수는 우리의 범죄 때문에 죽임을 당하셨고, 우리를 의롭게 하시려고 살아나셨습니다

( He was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification.)

로마서 5장

 

의롭게 하여 주심을 받은 사람의 삶

 

5:1 그러므로 우리는 믿음으로 의롭다 하심을 받았으므로, 우리 주 예수 그리스도로 말미암아 하나님과 더불어 평화를 누리고 있습니다

( Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,)

 

5:2 우리는 또한, 그리스도로 말미암아 지금 서 있는 이 은혜의 자리에 [믿음으로] 나아오게 되었으며, 하나님의 영광에 이르게 될 소망을 품고 자랑을 합니다

( through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God.)

 

5:3 그뿐만 아니라, 우리는 환난을 자랑합니다 우리가 알기로, 환난은 인내력을 낳고,

( Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance;)

 

5:4 인내력은 단련된 인격을 낳고, 단련된 인격은 희망을 낳는 줄을 알고 있기 때문입니다

( perseverance, character; and character, hope.)

 

5:5 이 희망은 우리를 실망시키지 않습니다 하나님께서 우리에게 주신 성령을 통하여 그의 사랑을 우리 마음 속에 부어 주셨기 때문입니다

( And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us.)

 

5:6 우리가 아직 약할 때에, 그리스도께서는 제 때에, 경건하지 않은 사람을 위하여 죽으셨습니다

( You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly.)

 

5:7 의인을 위해서라도 죽을 사람은 거의 없습니다 더욱이 선한 사람을 위해서라도 감히 죽을 사람은 드뭅니다

( Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous man, though for a good man someone might possibly dare to die.)

 

5:8 그러나 우리가 아직 죄인이었을 때에, 그리스도께서 우리를 위하여 죽으셨습니다 이리하여 하나님께서는 우리들에 대한 자기의 사랑을 실증하셨습니다

( But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.)

 

5:9 그러므로 지금 우리가 그리스도의 피로 의롭게 되었으니, 그리스도로 말미암아 하나님의 진노에서 구원을 얻으리라는 것은 더욱 확실합니다

( Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God's wrath through him!)

 

5:10 우리가 하나님의 원수일 때에도 하나님의 아들의 죽으심으로 말미암아 하나님과 화해하게 되었다면, 화해한 우리가 하나님의 생명으로 구원을 얻으리라는 것은 더욱더 확실한 일입니다

( For if, when we were God's enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life!)

 

5:11 그뿐만 아니라, 우리는 또한 우리 주 예수 그리스도로 말미암아 하나님을 자랑합니다 우리는 지금 그로 말미암아 하나님과 화해를 하게 된 것입니다

( Not only is this so, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.)

 

아담과 그리스도

 

5:12 그러므로 한 사람으로 말미암아 죄가 세상에 들어왔고, 또 그 죄로 말미암아 죽음이 들어온 것과 같이, 모든 사람이 죄를 지었기 때문에 죽음이 모든 사람에게 이르게 되었습니다

( Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all men, because all sinned--)

 

5:13 율법이 있기 전에도 죄가 세상에 있었으나, 율법이 없을 때에는 죄가 죄로 여겨지지 않았습니다

( for before the law was given, sin was in the world. But sin is not taken into account when there is no law.)

 

5:14 그러나 아담 시대로부터 모세 시대에 이르기까지는 아담의 범죄와 같은 죄를 짓지 않은 사람들까지도 죽음의 지배를 받았습니다 아담은 장차 오실 분의 모형이었습니다

( Nevertheless, death reigned from the time of Adam to the time of Moses, even over those who did not sin by breaking a command, as did Adam, who was a pattern of the one to come.)

 

5:15 그러나 하나님께서 은혜를 베푸실 때에 생긴 일은, 아담 한 사람이 범죄 했을 때에 생긴 일과 같지 않습니다 한 사람의 범죄로 많은 사람이 죽었으나, 하나님의 은혜와 예수 그리스도 한 사람의 은혜로 말미암은 선물은, 많은 사람에게 더욱더 넘쳐나게 되었습니다

( But the gift is not like the trespass. For if the many died by the trespass of the one man, how much more did God's grace and the gift that came by the grace of the one man, Jesus Christ, overflow to the many!)

 

5:16 또한, 하나님께서 주시는 선물은 한 사람의 범죄의 결과와 같지 않습니다 한 범죄에서는 심판이 뒤따라와서 유죄 판결이 내려졌습니다마는, 많은 범죄에서는 은혜가 뒤따라와서 무죄 선언이 내려졌습니다

( Again, the gift of God is not like the result of the one man's sin: The judgment followed one sin and brought condemnation, but the gift followed many trespasses and brought justification.)

 

5:17 아담 한 사람의 범죄 때문에 그 한 사람으로 말미암아 죽음이 왕노릇 하게 되었다면, 넘치는 은혜와 의의 선물을 받는 사람들은, 예수 그리스도 한 분으로 말미암아, 생명 안에서 왕노릇 하게 되리라는 것은 더욱더 확실합니다

( For if, by the trespass of the one man, death reigned through that one man, how much more will those who receive God's abundant provision of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man, Jesus Christ.)

 

5:18 그러니 한 사람의 범죄 행위 때문에 모든 사람이 유죄판결을 받았는데, 이제는 한 사람의 의로운 행위 때문에 모든 사람이 의롭다는 인정을 받아서 생명을 얻게 되었습니다

( Consequently, just as the result of one trespass was condemnation for all men, so also the result of one act of righteousness was justification that brings life for all men.)

 

5:19 한 사람이 순종하지 않음으로 말미암아 많은 사람이 죄인으로 판정을 받았는데, 이제는 한 사람이 순종함으로 말미암아 많은 사람이 의인으로 판정을 받을 것입니다

( For just as through the disobedience of the one man the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one man the many will be made righteous.)

 

5:20 율법은 범죄를 증가시키려고 끼여 들어온 것입니다 그러나 죄가 많은 곳에, 은혜가 더욱 넘치게 되었습니다

( The law was added so that the trespass might increase. But where sin increased, grace increased all the more,)

 

5:21 그것은, 죄가 죽음으로 사람을 지배한 것과 같이, 은혜가 의를 통하여 사람을 지배하여, 우리 주 예수 그리스도로 말미암아 얻는 영원한 생명에 이르게 하려는 것입니다

( so that, just as sin reigned in death, so also grace might reign through righteousness to bring eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.)
