사무엘하 8장

 

다윗 왕국의 성립과 그 판도;대상18:1-17

 

8:1 그 뒤에 다윗이 블레셋 사람을 쳐서, 그들을 굴복시키고, 블레셋 사람의 손에서 메덱암마를 빼앗았다

( In the course of time, David defeated the Philistines and subdued them, and he took Metheg Ammah from the control of the Philistines.)

 

8:2 다윗은 또 모압을 쳤다 그는 모압 포로들을 줄을 지어 세운 다음에, 그들을 땅에 엎드리게 하고, 매 석 줄 중에 두 줄은 죽이고, 한 줄은 살려주었다 모압 사람들은 다윗의 종이 되어 그에게 조공을 바쳤다

( David also defeated the Moabites. He made them lie down on the ground and measured them off with a length of cord. Every two lengths of them were put to death, and the third length was allowed to live. So the Moabites became subject to David and brought tribute.)

 

8:3 르홉의 아들, 소바 왕 하닷에셀이 유프라테스 강 유역에서 자기 세력을 되찾으려고 출정하였을 때에, 다윗이 그를 치고,

( Moreover, David fought Hadadezer son of Rehob, king of Zobah, when he went to restore his control along the Euphrates River.)

 

8:4 그에게서 기마병 천칠백 명과 보병 이만 명을 포로로 사로잡았다 다윗은 또 병거를 끄는 말 가운데서도 백 필만 남겨 놓고, 나머지는 모조리 다리의 힘줄을 끊어 버렸다

( David captured a thousand of his chariots, seven thousand charioteers and twenty thousand foot soldiers. He hamstrung all but a hundred of the chariot horses.)

 

8:5 다마스쿠스의 시리아 사람들이 소바 왕 하닷에셀을 도우려고 군대를 보내자, 다윗은 시리아 사람 이만 이천 명을 쳐죽이고,

( When the Arameans of Damascus came to help Hadadezer king of Zobah, David struck down twenty-two thousand of them.)

 

8:6 시리아의 다마스쿠스에 주둔군을 두니, 시리아도 다윗의 종이 되어 그에게 조공을 바쳤다 다윗이 어느 곳으로 출전하든지, 주님께서 그에게 승리를 안겨 주셨다

( He put garrisons in the Aramean kingdom of Damascus, and the Arameans became subject to him and brought tribute. The LORD gave David victory wherever he went.)

 

8:7 그 때에 다윗은 하닷에셀의 신하들이 가지고 있는 금방패를 다 빼앗아서, 예루살렘으로 가져 왔다

( David took the gold shields that belonged to the officers of Hadadezer and brought them to Jerusalem.)

 

8:8 또 다윗 왕은, 하닷에셀의 두 성읍 베다와 베로대에서는, 놋쇠를 아주 많이 빼앗아 왔다

( From Tebah and Berothai, towns that belonged to Hadadezer, King David took a great quantity of bronze.)

 

8:9 하맛 왕 도이는, 다윗이 하닷에셀의 온 군대를 쳐서 이겼다는 소식을 들었다

( When Tou king of Hamath heard that David had defeated the entire army of Hadadezer,)

 

8:10 그는 자기의 아들 요람을 다윗 왕에게로 보내서 문안하게 하고, 다윗이 하닷에셀과 싸워서 이긴 것을 축하하게 하였다 하닷에셀은 도이와 서로 싸우는 사이였다 요람은 은과 금과 놋으로 만든 물건을 많이 가지고 다윗에게로 왔다

( he sent his son Joram to King David to greet him and congratulate him on his victory in battle over Hadadezer, who had been at war with Tou. Joram brought with him articles of silver and gold and bronze.)

 

8:11 다윗 왕은 이것들도 따로 구별하여서, 이미 정복한 모든 민족에게서 가져온 것에서 따로 구별하여 둔 은금과 함께 주님께 바쳤는데,

( King David dedicated these articles to the LORD, as he had done with the silver and gold from all the nations he had subdued:)

 

8:12 그것들은, 그가 에돔과 모압과 암몬 사람들과 블레셋 사람들과 아말렉에게서 가져온 은금과, 르홉의 아들인 소바 왕 하닷에셀에게서 빼앗아 온 물건 가운데서, 따로 떼어놓은 은과 금이었다

( Edom and Moab, the Ammonites and the Philistines, and Amalek. He also dedicated the plunder taken from Hadadezer son of Rehob, king of Zobah.)

 

8:13 다윗은 돌아오는 길에 '소금 골짜기'에서 에돔 사람 만 팔천 명을 쳐죽이고, 이름을 떨쳤다

( And David became famous after he returned from striking down eighteen thousand Edomites in the Valley of Salt.)

 

8:14 그 때에 다윗이 에돔에 주둔군을 두기 시작하여서, 온 에돔에 주둔군을 두니, 마침내 온 에돔 사람이 다윗의 종이 되었다 다윗이 어느 곳으로 출전하든지, 주님께서 그에게 승리를 안겨 주셨다

( He put garrisons throughout Edom, and all the Edomites became subject to David. The LORD gave David victory wherever he went.)

 

8:15 다윗이 왕이 되어서 이렇게 온 이스라엘을 다스릴 때에, 그는 언제나 자기의 백성 모두를 공평하고 의로운 법으로 다스렸다

( David reigned over all Israel, doing what was just and right for all his people.)

 

8:16 스루야의 아들 요압은 군사령관이 되고, 아힐룻의 아들 여호사밧은 역사 기록관이 되고,

( Joab son of Zeruiah was over the army; Jehoshaphat son of Ahilud was recorder;)

 

8:17 아히둡의 아들 사독과 아비아달의 아들 아히멜렉은 제사장이 되고, 스라야는 서기관이 되고,

( Zadok son of Ahitub and Ahimelech son of Abiathar were priests; Seraiah was secretary;)

 

8:18 여호야다의 아들 브나야는 그렛 사람과 블렛 사람의 지휘관이 되었다 다윗의 아들들은 제사장 일을 보았다

( Benaiah son of Jehoiada was over the Kerethites and Pelethites; and David's sons were royal advisers.)

사무엘하 9장

 

다윗과 므비보셋

 

9:1 하루는 다윗이 물었다 "사울의 집안에 살아 남은 사람이 있느냐? 요나단을 보아서라도, 남아 있는 자손이 있으면, 잘 보살펴 주고 싶구나"

( David asked, "Is there anyone still left of the house of Saul to whom I can show kindness for Jonathan's sake?")

 

9:2 마침 사울의 집안에서 종노릇 하는 시바라는 사람이 있어서, 사람들이 그를 불러 다윗에게로 데리고 왔다 왕이 그에게 "네가 시바냐?" 하고 물으니 "그러합니다" 하고 그가 대답하였다

( Now there was a servant of Saul's household named Ziba. They called him to appear before David, and the king said to him, "Are you Ziba?" "Your servant," he replied.)

 

9:3 왕이 물었다 "사울의 집안에 남은 사람이 없느냐? 있으면 내가 하나님의 은총을 그에게 베풀어 주고 싶다" 그러자 시바가 왕에게 대답하였다 "요나단의 아들이 하나 남아 있습니다 두 다리를 접니다"

( The king asked, "Is there no one still left of the house of Saul to whom I can show God's kindness?" Ziba answered the king, "There is still a son of Jonathan; he is crippled in both feet.")

 

9:4 왕이 그에게 물었다 "그는 지금 어디에 있느냐?" 시바가 왕에게 대답하였다 "그는 지금 로드발에 있는 암미엘의 아들 마길의 집에서 삽니다"

( "Where is he?" the king asked. Ziba answered, "He is at the house of Makir son of Ammiel in Lo Debar.")

 

9:5 다윗 왕이 사람을 보내어서, 로드발에 있는 암미엘의 아들 마길의 집에서 그를 데려왔다

( So King David had him brought from Lo Debar, from the house of Makir son of Ammiel.)

 

9:6 사울의 손자이며 요나단의 아들인 므비보셋은 다윗에게 와서 엎드려 절하였다 다윗이 "네가 므비보셋이냐?" 하고 물었다 그가 대답하였다 "예, 임금님의 종, 므비보셋입니다"

( When Mephibosheth son of Jonathan, the son of Saul, came to David, he bowed down to pay him honor. David said, "Mephibosheth!" "Your servant," he replied.)

 

9:7 다윗이 그에게 말하였다 "겁낼 것 없다 내가 너의 아버지 요나단을 생각해서 네게 은총을 베풀어 주고 싶다 너의 할아버지 사울 임금께서 가지고 계시던 토지를 너에게 모두 돌려주겠다 그리고 너는 언제나 나의 식탁에서 함께 먹도록 하여라"

( "Don't be afraid," David said to him, "for I will surely show you kindness for the sake of your father Jonathan. I will restore to you all the land that belonged to your grandfather Saul, and you will always eat at my table.")

 

9:8 므비보셋이 엎드려 아뢰었다 "이 종이 무엇이기에 죽은 개나 다름없는 저를 임금님께서 이렇게까지 돌보아 주십니까?"

( Mephibosheth bowed down and said, "What is your servant, that you should notice a dead dog like me?")

 

9:9 다윗 왕은 사울의 종 시바를 불러서 일렀다 "사울과 그의 온 집안이 가졌던 모든 것을, 내가 이제 너의 상전의 손자인 므비보셋에게 주었다

( Then the king summoned Ziba, Saul's servant, and said to him, "I have given your master's grandson everything that belonged to Saul and his family.)

 

9:10 그러니 너는 너의 아들들과 종들과 함께 모두 그 땅을 갈고 거두어서, 너의 상전의 집안이 먹을 양식을 대도록 하여라 그러나 너의 상전의 손자인 므비보셋은 언제나 나의 식탁에서 음식을 먹을 것이다" （시바에게는 아들 열다섯과 종 스무 명이 있었다）

( You and your sons and your servants are to farm the land for him and bring in the crops, so that your master's grandson may be provided for. And Mephibosheth, grandson of your master, will always eat at my table." (Now Ziba had fifteen sons and twenty servants.))

 

9:11 시바가 왕에게 대답하였다 "높으신 임금님께서 이 종에게 명령하신 그대로, 이 종이 모두 하겠습니다" 그리하여 므비보셋은 왕자들과 다름없이, 언제나 다윗 왕의 식탁에서 음식을 먹었다

( Then Ziba said to the king, "Your servant will do whatever my lord the king commands his servant to do." So Mephibosheth ate at David's table like one of the king's sons.)

 

9:12 므비보셋에게는 미가라는 어린 아들이 하나 있었다 시바의 집에 사는 사람들은 모두 므비보셋의 종이 되었다

( Mephibosheth had a young son named Mica, and all the members of Ziba's household were servants of Mephibosheth.)

 

9:13 므비보셋은 언제나 왕의 식탁에서 먹었으며, 예루살렘에서만 살았다 그는 두 다리를 다 절었다

( And Mephibosheth lived in Jerusalem, because he always ate at the king's table, and he was crippled in both feet.)

사무엘하 10장

 

암몬과의 전쟁;대상19:1-19

 

10:1 그 뒤에 암몬 사람의 왕이 죽고, 그의 아들 하눈이 그를 이어서 왕이 되었다

( In the course of time, the king of the Ammonites died, and his son Hanun succeeded him as king.)

 

10:2 다윗은 "하눈의 아버지 나하스가 나에게 은혜를 베풀었으니, 나도 나하스의 아들 하눈에게 은혜를 베풀어야겠다" 하고서, 신하들을 보내어, 고인에게 조의를 표하게 하였다 그래서 다윗의 신하들이 암몬 사람의 땅에 이르렀다

( David thought, "I will show kindness to Hanun son of Nahash, just as his father showed kindness to me." So David sent a delegation to express his sympathy to Hanun concerning his father. When David's men came to the land of the Ammonites,)

 

10:3 그러나 암몬 사람의 대신들이 자기들의 상전인 하눈에게 말하였다 "다윗이 임금님께 조문 사절을 보낸 것이 임금님의 부친을 존경하기 때문이라고 생각하십니까? 오히려 이 도성을 두루 살피고 정탐하여, 함락시키려고, 다윗이 임금님께 자기의 신하들을 보낸 것이 아닙니까?"

( the Ammonite nobles said to Hanun their lord, "Do you think David is honoring your father by sending men to you to express sympathy? Hasn't David sent them to you to explore the city and spy it out and overthrow it?")

 

10:4 그래서 하눈은 다윗의 신하들을 붙잡아서, 그들의 한쪽 수염을 깎고, 입은 옷 가운데를 도려내어, 양쪽 엉덩이가 드러나게 해서 돌려보냈다

( So Hanun seized David's men, shaved off half of each man's beard, cut off their garments in the middle at the buttocks, and sent them away.)

 

10:5 사람들은 이 일을 다윗에게 알렸다 조문 사절이 너무나도 수치스러운 일을 당하였으므로, 다윗 왕은 사람을 보내어 그들을 맞으며, 수염이 다시 자랄 때까지 여리고에 머물러 있다가, 수염이 다 자란 다음에 돌아오라고 하였다

( When David was told about this, he sent messengers to meet the men, for they were greatly humiliated. The king said, "Stay at Jericho till your beards have grown, and then come back.")

 

10:6 암몬 사람들은 자기들이 다윗에게 미움을 사게 된 줄을 알았다 암몬 사람들은 사람을 보내어서, 벳르홉의 시리아 사람과 소바의 시리아 사람에게서 보병 이만 명과, 마아가의 왕에게서 천 명과, 돕 사람들에게서 만 이천 명을 용병으로 고용하였다

( When the Ammonites realized that they had become a stench in David's nostrils, they hired twenty thousand Aramean foot soldiers from Beth Rehob and Zobah, as well as the king of Maacah with a thousand men, and also twelve thousand men from Tob.)

 

10:7 다윗은 이 소식을 듣고, 요압에게 전투부대를 맡겨서 출동시켰다

( On hearing this, David sent Joab out with the entire army of fighting men.)

 

10:8 암몬 사람도 나와서, 성문 앞에서 전열을 갖추었으며, 소바와 르홉의 시리아 사람들과 돕과 마아가의 용병들도 각각 들녘에서 전열을 갖추었다

( The Ammonites came out and drew up in battle formation at the entrance to their city gate, while the Arameans of Zobah and Rehob and the men of Tob and Maacah were by themselves in the open country.)

 

10:9 요압은 적이 자기 부대의 앞뒤에서 전열을 갖추어 포진한 것을 보고, 이스라엘의 모든 정예병 가운데서 더 엄격하게 정예병을 뽑아서, 시리아 군대와 싸울 수 있도록 전열을 갖추었다

( Joab saw that there were battle lines in front of him and behind him; so he selected some of the best troops in Israel and deployed them against the Arameans.)

 

10:10 남은 병력은 자기의 아우 아비새에게 맡겨, 암몬 군대와 싸우도록 전열을 갖추게 하고서,

( He put the rest of the men under the command of Abishai his brother and deployed them against the Ammonites.)

 

10:11 이렇게 말하였다 "시리아 군대가 나보다 더 강하면, 네가 와서 나를 도와라 그러나 암몬 군대가 너보다 더 강하면, 내가 가서 너를 돕겠다

( Joab said, "If the Arameans are too strong for me, then you are to come to my rescue; but if the Ammonites are too strong for you, then I will come to rescue you.)

 

10:12 용기를 내어라 용감하게 싸워서 우리가 우리 민족을 지키고, 우리 하나님의 성읍을 지키자 주님께서 좋게 여기시는 대로 이루어 주실 것이다"

( Be strong and let us fight bravely for our people and the cities of our God. The LORD will do what is good in his sight.")

 

10:13 그런 다음에 요압이 그의 부대를 거느리고 시리아 사람들과 싸우러 나아가니, 시리아 군인들이 요압 앞에서 도망하여 버렸다

( Then Joab and the troops with him advanced to fight the Arameans, and they fled before him.)

 

10:14 암몬 군인들은 시리아 군인들이 도망하는 것을 보고서, 그들도 아비새 앞에서 도망하여, 성으로 들어가 버렸다 요압은 암몬 군대와 싸우기를 그치고, 예루살렘으로 돌아왔다

( When the Ammonites saw that the Arameans were fleeing, they fled before Abishai and went inside the city. So Joab returned from fighting the Ammonites and came to Jerusalem.)

 

10:15 시리아 군인들은 자기들이 이스라엘에게 패한 것을 알고서, 온 군대를 다시 집결시켰다

( After the Arameans saw that they had been routed by Israel, they regrouped.)

 

10:16 그 때에 하닷에셀이 사람을 보내어서, 유프라테스 강 동쪽에 있는 시리아 군대를 동원시켰으므로, 그들이 헬람으로 왔다 하닷에셀의 부하 소박 사령관이 그들을 지휘하였다

( Hadadezer had Arameans brought from beyond the River; they went to Helam, with Shobach the commander of Hadadezer's army leading them.)

 

10:17 다윗이 이 소식을 듣고, 온 이스라엘 군대를 모아서 거느리고, 요단 강을 건너서, 헬람으로 진군하였다 시리아 군대가 다윗과 싸우려고 전열을 갖추고 있다가, 맞붙어 싸웠으나,

( When David was told of this, he gathered all Israel, crossed the Jordan and went to Helam. The Arameans formed their battle lines to meet David and fought against him.)

 

10:18 시리아는 이스라엘 앞에서 도망하고 말았다 다윗은 시리아 군대를 쳐서, 병거를 모는 칠백 명과 기마병 사만 명을 죽이고, 소박 사령관도 쳐서, 그를 그 자리에서 죽였다

( But they fled before Israel, and David killed seven hundred of their charioteers and forty thousand of their foot soldiers. He also struck down Shobach the commander of their army, and he died there.)

 

10:19 하닷에셀의 부하인 모든 왕은, 자기들이 이스라엘에게 패한 것을 알고서, 이스라엘과 화해한 뒤에, 이스라엘을 섬겼다 그 뒤로 시리아는, 이스라엘이 두려워서, 다시는 암몬 사람을 돕지 못하였다

( When all the kings who were vassals of Hadadezer saw that they had been defeated by Israel, they made peace with the Israelites and became subject to them. So the Arameans were afraid to help the Ammonites anymore.)
