에스겔 20장

 

하나님의 뜻, 사람의 반역

 

20:1 제 칠년 다섯째 달 십일에 이스라엘의 장로들 가운데서 몇 사람이, 주님의 뜻을 물으려고 나에게 와서, 내 앞에 앉았다

( In the seventh year, in the fifth month on the tenth day, some of the elders of Israel came to inquire of the LORD, and they sat down in front of me.)

 

20:2 그 때에 주님께서 나에게 말씀하셨다

( Then the word of the LORD came to me:)

 

20:3 "사람아, 너는 이스라엘의 장로들에게 이야기하고, 그들에게 전하여라 '나 주 하나님이 말한다 너희가 나의 뜻을 물으려고 와 있느냐? 내가 나의 삶을 두고 맹세한다 나는 너희가 묻는 것을 허락하지 않겠다 나 주 하나님의 말이다' 하고 말하여라

( "Son of man, speak to the elders of Israel and say to them, 'This is what the Sovereign LORD says: Have you come to inquire of me? As surely as I live, I will not let you inquire of me, declares the Sovereign LORD.')

 

20:4 너 사람아, 오히려 네가 그들을 심판해야 하지 않겠느냐? 사람아, 네가 그들을 심판해야 하지 않겠느냐? 그들의 조상이 저지른 역겨운 일을 그들에게 알려 주어라

( "Will you judge them? Will you judge them, son of man? Then confront them with the detestable practices of their fathers)

 

20:5 너는 '주 하나님께서 이렇게 말씀하신다' 하고 그들에게 일러주어라 내가 옛날에 이스라엘을 선택하고, 야곱 집의 자손에게 손을 들어 맹세하고, 이집트 땅에서 나 자신을 그들에게 알려 주고, 그들에게 손을 들고 맹세할 때에 내가 그들의 주 하나님이라고 일러주었다

( and say to them: 'This is what the Sovereign LORD says: On the day I chose Israel, I swore with uplifted hand to the descendants of the house of Jacob and revealed myself to them in Egypt. With uplifted hand I said to them, "I am the LORD your God.")

 

20:6 그 날에 나는 그들에게 손을 들어 맹세하기를, 그들을 이집트 땅에서 이끌어 내서, 내가 이미 그들에게 주려고 골라 두었던 땅, 곧 젖과 꿀이 흐르는 땅이요, 모든 땅 가운데서 가장 아름다운 땅으로 인도하겠다고 하였다

( On that day I swore to them that I would bring them out of Egypt into a land I had searched out for them, a land flowing with milk and honey, the most beautiful of all lands.)

 

20:7 내가 또 그들에게 일러주었다 각자 눈을 팔게 하는 우상들을 내던지고, 이집트의 우상들로 그들 자신을 더럽히지 말라고 하였다 나는 주 그들의 하나님이라고 말하였는데도

( And I said to them, "Each of you, get rid of the vile images you have set your eyes on, and do not defile yourselves with the idols of Egypt. I am the LORD your God.")

 

20:8 그들은 나에게 반역하고, 나의 말을 들으려고 하지 않았다 어느 누구도 그들을 현혹시키는 우상들을 내던지지 않았고, 이집트의 우상들도 버리지 않았다 그래서 나는 이집트 땅의 한복판에서 그들 위에 나의 진노를 쏟아 부어, 그들에게 나의 분노를 풀겠다고 말하였다

( "'But they rebelled against me and would not listen to me; they did not get rid of the vile images they had set their eyes on, nor did they forsake the idols of Egypt. So I said I would pour out my wrath on them and spend my anger against them in Egypt.)

 

20:9 그러나 나는 나의 이름 때문에, 이방 민족의 한가운데 살던 이스라엘이, 그 모든 이방 민족이 보는 앞에서 나의 이름을 더럽히지 않게 하였으니, 바로 그 여러 민족이 보는 앞에서, 내가 그들을 이집트 땅에서 이끌어 냄으로써, 나 자신을 그들에게 알려 주었었다

( But for the sake of my name I did what would keep it from being profaned in the eyes of the nations they lived among and in whose sight I had revealed myself to the Israelites by bringing them out of Egypt.)

 

20:10 그래서 나는 그들을 이집트 땅에서 이끌어 내서, 광야로 데리고 나갔다

( Therefore I led them out of Egypt and brought them into the desert.)

 

20:11 나는 그들에게, 누구나 그대로 실천하면 살 수 있는 율례를 정하여 주고, 내 규례를 알려 주었다

( I gave them my decrees and made known to them my laws, for the man who obeys them will live by them.)

 

20:12 또 나는 그들에게 안식일도 정하여 주어서, 이것이 나와 그들 사이에 표징이 되어, 내가 그들을 거룩하게 하는 주인 줄 알게 하였다

( Also I gave them my Sabbaths as a sign between us, so they would know that I the LORD made them holy.)

 

20:13 그러나 이스라엘 족속이 광야에서 나에게 반역하였다 누구나 그대로 실천하면 살 수 있는 내 율례를 그들은 지키지 않았고, 내 규례를 배척하였다 그들은 내 안식일도 크게 더럽혔다 그래서 내가 이르기를, 광야에서 그들의 머리 위에 내 진노를 쏟아, 그들을 모두 멸망시키겠다고 하였다

( "'Yet the people of Israel rebelled against me in the desert. They did not follow my decrees but rejected my laws--although the man who obeys them will live by them--and they utterly desecrated my Sabbaths. So I said I would pour out my wrath on them and destroy them in the desert.)

 

20:14 그러나 나는, 내 이름에 욕이 될까봐, 그렇게 하지 못하였다 이방 민족들이 보는 앞에서 이스라엘을 이끌어 냈는데, 바로 그 이방 사람들의 눈 앞에서, 내 이름을 더럽히고 싶지 않았다

( But for the sake of my name I did what would keep it from being profaned in the eyes of the nations in whose sight I had brought them out.)

 

20:15 또 나는 광야에서 그들에게 손을 들어 맹세하기를, 내가 그들에게 주기로 한 땅, 젖과 꿀이 흐르는 땅, 모든 땅 가운데서 가장 아름다운 땅으로, 그들을 데리고 들어가지 않겠다고 하였다

( Also with uplifted hand I swore to them in the desert that I would not bring them into the land I had given them--a land flowing with milk and honey, most beautiful of all lands--)

 

20:16 그것은 그들이 자기들의 마음대로 우상을 따라가서 나의 규례를 업신여기며, 나의 율례를 지키지 않으며, 나의 안식일을 더럽혔기 때문이다

( because they rejected my laws and did not follow my decrees and desecrated my Sabbaths. For their hearts were devoted to their idols.)

 

20:17 그런데도 나는 그들을 불쌍하게 여기어, 그들을 죽이지 않고, 광야에서 그들을 멸하여 아주 없애지 않았다

( Yet I looked on them with pity and did not destroy them or put an end to them in the desert.)

 

20:18 나는 광야에서 그들의 자손에게 말하기를 '너희는, 너희 조상의 율례를 따르지 말고, 그들의 규례를 지키지 말며, 그들의 우상으로 너희 자신을 더럽히지 말아라

( I said to their children in the desert, "Do not follow the statutes of your fathers or keep their laws or defile yourselves with their idols.)

 

20:19 나는 주 너희의 하나님이다 너희는, 나의 율례를 따르고, 나의 규례를 지켜, 그대로 실천하여라

( I am the LORD your God; follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws.)

 

20:20 너희는, 나의 안식일을 거룩하게 지켜서, 그것이 나와 너희 사이에 맺은 언약의 표징이 되어, 내가 주 너희의 하나님인 줄 알게 하여라' 하였다

( Keep my Sabbaths holy, that they may be a sign between us. Then you will know that I am the LORD your God.")

 

20:21 그런데 그 자손도 나에게 반역하였다 누구나 그대로 실천하면 살 수 있는 나의 율례를 따르지 않았고, 나의 규례를 지키지 않았고, 나의 안식일을 더럽혔다 그래서 나는 광야에서 그들의 머리 위에 나의 진노를 쏟아 부어, 그들에게 나의 분노를 풀겠다고 말하였다

( "'But the children rebelled against me: They did not follow my decrees, they were not careful to keep my laws--although the man who obeys them will live by them--and they desecrated my Sabbaths. So I said I would pour out my wrath on them and spend my anger against them in the desert.)

 

20:22 그러나 나는 내 이름 때문에, 그렇게 하지 못하였다 이방 민족들이 보는 앞에서 그들을 이끌어 냈는데, 바로 그 이방 사람들의 눈 앞에서 내 이름을 더럽히고 싶지 않아서, 내 손을 거두었던 것이다

( But I withheld my hand, and for the sake of my name I did what would keep it from being profaned in the eyes of the nations in whose sight I had brought them out.)

 

20:23 그러면서도 그들을 이방 민족들 가운데 흩어 놓고, 여러 나라 가운데 헤치겠다고 내가 광야에서 또 한번 손을 들어 맹세한 것은,

( Also with uplifted hand I swore to them in the desert that I would disperse them among the nations and scatter them through the countries,)

 

20:24 그들의 눈이 자기 조상의 우상에게 팔려서, 나의 규례대로 살지 않고, 나의 율례를 배척하며, 나의 안식일을 더럽혔기 때문이다

( because they had not obeyed my laws but had rejected my decrees and desecrated my Sabbaths, and their eyes lusted after their fathers' idols.)

 

20:25 그래서 내가 그들에게, 옳지 않은 율례와, 목숨을 살리지 못하는 규례를, 지키라고 주었다

( I also gave them over to statutes that were not good and laws they could not live by;)

 

20:26 나는 그들이 모두 맏아들을 제물로 바치도록 시켰고, 그들이 바치는 그 제물이 그들을 더럽히게 하였다 내가 이렇게 한 것은, 그들을 망하게 하여 내가 주인 줄 그들이 알게 하려는 것이었다

( I let them become defiled through their gifts--the sacrifice of every firstborn--that I might fill them with horror so they would know that I am the LORD.')

 

20:27 그러므로 사람아, 너는 이스라엘 족속에게 말하여라 그들에게 일러주어라 '나 주 하나님이 말한다 너희 조상은 이런 일을 저질러 나를 배반함으로써, 나를 모독하였다

( "Therefore, son of man, speak to the people of Israel and say to them, 'This is what the Sovereign LORD says: In this also your fathers blasphemed me by forsaking me:)

 

20:28 내가 일찍이 그들에게 주겠다고 손을 들어서 맹세한 땅으로 그들을 데리고 들어왔더니, 그들은 모든 높은 언덕과 잎이 무성한 나무를 보고, 그 곳에서 짐승을 잡아 우상에게 제물로 바치고, 거기서 나를 분노하게 하는 제물을 바쳤다 그들은 거기서 우상에게 향기로운 제물을 바치며, 부어 드리는 제물을 바쳤다

( When I brought them into the land I had sworn to give them and they saw any high hill or any leafy tree, there they offered their sacrifices, made offerings that provoked me to anger, presented their fragrant incense and poured out their drink offerings.)

 

20:29 그래서 내가, 그들이 찾아 다니는 그 산당이 무엇이냐고 그들에게 꾸짖었다' （그런 곳의 이름을 오늘날까지 바마라고 부른다）

( Then I said to them: What is this high place you go to?'" (It is called Bamah to this day.))

 

20:30 그러므로 너는 이스라엘 족속에게 전하여라 '나 주 하나님이 말한다 너희도 너희 조상들의 행실을 따라 너희 자신을 더럽히고, 그들의 역겨운 우상을 따라 다니며 음행을 하느냐?

( "Therefore say to the house of Israel: 'This is what the Sovereign LORD says: Will you defile yourselves the way your fathers did and lust after their vile images?)

 

20:31 또 너희는 온갖 제물을 바치고 너희 아들들을 불 가운데로 지나가게 하여 제물로 바침으로써, 너희가 오늘날까지 우상들을 섬김으로써, 너희 자신을 더럽히고 있다 그런데도 내가, 너희가 나에게 묻는 것을 허락할 수 있겠느냐? 이스라엘 족속아, 내가 나의 삶을 두고 맹세한다 나는 너희가 나에게 묻는 것을 허락하지 않겠다 나 주 하나님의 말이다'"

( When you offer your gifts--the sacrifice of your sons in the fire--you continue to defile yourselves with all your idols to this day. Am I to let you inquire of me, O house of Israel? As surely as I live, declares the Sovereign LORD, I will not let you inquire of me.)

 

주께서 이스라엘을 회복하시다

 

20:32 "너희가 스스로 이르기를 '우리가 이방 사람 곧 여러 나라의 여러 백성처럼 나무와 돌을 섬기자' 하지만, 너희 마음에 품고 있는 생각대로는 절대로 되지 않을 것이다

( "'You say, "We want to be like the nations, like the peoples of the world, who serve wood and stone." But what you have in mind will never happen.)

 

20:33 내가 나의 삶을 두고 맹세한다 나 주 하나님의 말이다 내가 반드시 능한 손과 편 팔로 분노를 쏟아, 너희를 다스리겠다

( As surely as I live, declares the Sovereign LORD, I will rule over you with a mighty hand and an outstretched arm and with outpoured wrath.)

 

20:34 내가 능한 손과 편 팔로 분노를 쏟아, 너희를 여러 나라에서 데리고 나오며, 너희가 흩어져 살고 있는 여러 나라에서 너희를 모아 오겠고,

( I will bring you from the nations and gather you from the countries where you have been scattered--with a mighty hand and an outstretched arm and with outpoured wrath.)

 

20:35 내가 너희를 인도하여 '민족의 광야'로 데리고 나가서, 거기에서 너희와 대면하여 너희를 심판하겠다

( I will bring you into the desert of the nations and there, face to face, I will execute judgment upon you.)

 

20:36 내가 이집트 땅 광야에서 너희 조상을 심판한 것과 똑같이, 너희를 심판하겠다 나 주 하나님의 말이다

( As I judged your fathers in the desert of the land of Egypt, so I will judge you, declares the Sovereign LORD.)

 

20:37 내가 너희를 목자의 지팡이 밑으로 지나가게 하여, 너희의 숫자를 세며, 언약의 띠로 맬 것이다

( I will take note of you as you pass under my rod, and I will bring you into the bond of the covenant.)

 

20:38 나는 너희 가운데서 나에게 반역하고 범죄한 사람들을 없애 버리겠다 그들이 지금 거주하는 땅에서, 내가 그들을 데리고 나오기는 하겠으나, 그들이 이스라엘 땅으로 들어가지는 못할 것이다 그 때에야 비로소 너희는, 내가 주인 줄 알게 될 것이다

( I will purge you of those who revolt and rebel against me. Although I will bring them out of the land where they are living, yet they will not enter the land of Israel. Then you will know that I am the LORD.)

 

20:39 나 주 하나님이 말한다 너희 이스라엘 족속아, 너희는, 각자 너희의 우상들을 섬길테면 섬겨라 너희가 지금은 내 말을 듣지 않으나, 이 다음에 다시는, 너희의 온갖 예물과 우상숭배로 나의 거룩한 이름을 더럽히지 않을 것이다

( "'As for you, O house of Israel, this is what the Sovereign LORD says: Go and serve your idols, every one of you! But afterward you will surely listen to me and no longer profane my holy name with your gifts and idols.)

 

20:40 나 주 하나님의 말이다 나의 거룩한 산, 이스라엘의 그 높은 곳에서, 이스라엘 온 족속이, 그 땅에 사는 모든 사람들이, 나를 섬길 것이다 거기에서 내가 그들을 기쁘게 맞아들이며, 거기에서 내가 너희의 제물과 가장 좋은 예물을 온갖 거룩한 제물과 함께 요구할 것이다

( For on my holy mountain, the high mountain of Israel, declares the Sovereign LORD, there in the land the entire house of Israel will serve me, and there I will accept them. There I will require your offerings and your choice gifts, along with all your holy sacrifices.)

 

20:41 내가 여러 민족 속에서 너희를 데리고 나오며, 너희가 흩어져 살던 그 모든 나라에서 너희를 모아 올 때에, 나는 아름다운 향기로 너희를 기쁘게 맞이하겠다 이방 사람들이 보는 앞에서, 너희를 통하여 나의 거룩함을 드러낼 것이다

( I will accept you as fragrant incense when I bring you out from the nations and gather you from the countries where you have been scattered, and I will show myself holy among you in the sight of the nations.)

 

20:42 내가 이렇게 너희를 이스라엘 땅으로, 곧 내가 너희 조상에게 주겠다고 손을 들어 맹세한 땅으로 데리고 들어가면, 그 때에야 비로소 너희는, 내가 주인 줄 알게 될 것이다

( Then you will know that I am the LORD, when I bring you into the land of Israel, the land I had sworn with uplifted hand to give to your fathers.)

 

20:43 거기에서 너희가 자신을 더럽히며 살아온 길과 모든 행실을 기억하고, 너희가 저질렀던 그 온갖 악행 때문에 너희가 스스로를 미워하게 될 것이다

( There you will remember your conduct and all the actions by which you have defiled yourselves, and you will loathe yourselves for all the evil you have done.)

 

20:44 이스라엘 족속아, 내가 이렇게 너희의 악한 길과 타락한 행실에 따라, 그대로 너희에게 갚았어야 했지만, 내 이름에 욕이 될까봐 그렇게 하지 못하였으니, 그 때에야 비로소 너희는, 내가 주인 줄 알게 될 것이다 나 주 하나님의 말이다"

( You will know that I am the LORD, when I deal with you for my name's sake and not according to your evil ways and your corrupt practices, O house of Israel, declares the Sovereign LORD.'")

 

불타는 숲의 비유

 

20:45 주님께서 나에게 말씀하셨다

( The word of the LORD came to me:)

 

20:46 "사람아, 너는 얼굴을 남쪽으로 돌려라 남쪽을 규탄하여 외치고, 남쪽 네겝의 숲을 규탄하여 예언하여라

( "Son of man, set your face toward the south; preach against the south and prophesy against the forest of the southland.)

 

20:47 너는 네겝의 숲에게 말하여라 '너는 주의 말을 들어라 나 주 하나님이 말한다 내가 숲 속에 불을 지르겠다 그 불은 숲 속에 있는 모든 푸른 나무와 모든 마른 나무를 태울 것이다 활활 치솟는 그 불꽃이 꺼지지 않아서, 남쪽에서 북쪽까지 모든 사람의 얼굴이 그 불에 그을릴 것이다

( Say to the southern forest: 'Hear the word of the LORD. This is what the Sovereign LORD says: I am about to set fire to you, and it will consume all your trees, both green and dry. The blazing flame will not be quenched, and every face from south to north will be scorched by it.)

 

20:48 그 때에야 비로소 육체를 지닌 모든 사람이, 나 주가 그 불을 질렀다는 것을 알게 될 것이다 그 불은 절대로 꺼지지 않을 것이다'"

( Everyone will see that I the LORD have kindled it; it will not be quenched.'")

 

20:49 내가 아뢰었다 "주 하나님, 그들은 저를 가리켜 말하기를 '모호한 비유나 들어서 말하는 사람'이라고 합니다"

( Then I said, "Ah, Sovereign LORD! They are saying of me, 'Isn't he just telling parables?'")

주님의 칼

 

21:1 주님께서 나에게 말씀하셨다

( The word of the LORD came to me:)

 

21:2 "사람아, 너는 얼굴을 예루살렘 쪽으로 돌리고, 그 곳의 성전을 규탄하여 외치고, 이스라엘 땅을 규탄하여 예언하여라

( "Son of man, set your face against Jerusalem and preach against the sanctuary. Prophesy against the land of Israel)

 

21:3 너는 이스라엘 땅에 전하여라 '나 주가 말한다 내가 너를 대적한다 칼집에서 칼을 뽑아, 너희 가운데 있는 의인과 악인을 다 쳐죽이겠다

( and say to her: 'This is what the LORD says: I am against you. I will draw my sword from its scabbard and cut off from you both the righteous and the wicked.)

 

21:4 내가 너희 가운데서 의인과 악인을 다 쳐죽일 것이므로, 칼을 칼집에서 빼어서, 무릇 육체를 가진 모든 사람을 남쪽에서 북쪽에까지 칠 것이니,

( Because I am going to cut off the righteous and the wicked, my sword will be unsheathed against everyone from south to north.)

 

21:5 그 때에야 비로소, 육체를 지닌 모든 사람이 내가 칼집에서 칼을 빼어 든 줄을 알 것이다 그 칼은 절대로 칼집에 다시 꽂히지 않을 것이다'

( Then all people will know that I the LORD have drawn my sword from its scabbard; it will not return again.')

 

21:6 너 사람아, 탄식하여라 그들이 보는 앞에서 허리가 끊어지는 듯이 괴로워하면서, 슬피 탄식하여라

( "Therefore groan, son of man! Groan before them with broken heart and bitter grief.)

 

21:7 사람들이 무엇 때문에 탄식하느냐고 물으면, 너는 그들에게 '재앙이 다가온다는 소문 때문이다 사람마다 간담이 녹으며, 두 손에 맥이 빠지며, 모두들 넋을 잃으며, 모든 무릎이 떨 것이다 재앙이 닥쳐 오고 있다 반드시 이룰 것이다 나 주 하나님의 말이다' 하고 말하여라"

( And when they ask you, 'Why are you groaning?' you shall say, 'Because of the news that is coming. Every heart will melt and every hand go limp; every spirit will become faint and every knee become as weak as water.' It is coming! It will surely take place, declares the Sovereign LORD.")

 

21:8 주님께서 나에게 말씀하셨다

( The word of the LORD came to me:)

 

21:9 "사람아, 예언을 전하여라 '나 주가 말한다 칼이다! 칼에 날이 섰다 칼이 번쩍거린다

( "Son of man, prophesy and say, 'This is what the Lord says: "'A sword, a sword, sharpened and polished--)

 

21:10 사정없이 죽이려고 칼에 날을 세웠으며, 번개처럼 휘두르려고 칼에 광을 냈다 내 백성이 모든 경고와 심판을 무시하였으니, 어찌 기쁨이 있을 수 있겠는가?

( sharpened for the slaughter, polished to flash like lightning! "'Shall we rejoice in the scepter of my son Judah? The sword despises every such stick.)

 

21:11 그 사람의 손에 쥐어 주려고 칼에 광을 내었다 살육자의 손에 넘겨 주려고 그렇게 시퍼렇게 날을 세우고 광을 냈다

( "'The sword is appointed to be polished, to be grasped with the hand; it is sharpened and polished, made ready for the hand of the slayer.)

 

21:12 사람아, 너는 부르짖으며 통곡하여라 그 칼이 내 백성을 치고, 이스라엘의 모든 지도자를 칠 것이다 지도자들과 나의 백성이 함께 칼에 찔려 죽을 것이다 그러므로 너는 가슴을 치며 통곡하여라

( Cry out and wail, son of man, for it is against my people; it is against all the princes of Israel. They are thrown to the sword along with my people. Therefore beat your breast.)

 

21:13 내가 내 백성을 시험하겠다 내 백성이 회개하기를 거절하면, 이 모든 일들이 그들에게 닥칠 것이다 나 주 하나님의 말이다

( "'Testing will surely come. And what if the scepter of Judah, which the sword despises, does not continue? declares the Sovereign LORD.')

 

21:14 너 사람아, 예언을 전하여라 손뼉을 쳐라 그 칼이 두세 번 휘둘릴 것이다 그것은 사람을 죽이는 칼이요, 큰 무리를 학살하는 칼이다 사람들 주위를 빙빙 도는 칼이다

( "So then, son of man, prophesy and strike your hands together. Let the sword strike twice, even three times. It is a sword for slaughter--a sword for great slaughter, closing in on them from every side.)

 

21:15 사람들의 간담이 녹고, 많은 사람이 쓰러져 죽을 것이다 내가 성문마다 살육하는 칼을 세워 놓았다 번개처럼 번쩍이는 칼, 사람을 죽이려고 날카롭게 간 칼이다

( So that hearts may melt and the fallen be many, I have stationed the sword for slaughter at all their gates. Oh! It is made to flash like lightning, it is grasped for slaughter.)

 

21:16 칼아, 날을 세워 오른쪽을 치며 방향을 잡아 왼쪽을 쳐라 어느 쪽이든지 너의 날로 쳐라

( O sword, slash to the right, then to the left, wherever your blade is turned.)

 

21:17 나도 손뼉을 치겠다 나의 분노도 풀릴 것이다 나 주가 말한다'"

( I too will strike my hands together, and my wrath will subside. I the LORD have spoken.")

21:18 주님께서 나에게 말씀하셨다

( The word of the LORD came to me:)

( "Son of man, mark out two roads for the sword of the king of Babylon to take, both starting from the same country. Make a signpost where the road branches off to the city.)

 

21:20 칼이 암몬 자손의 랍바로 갈 수 있는 길과, 유다의 견고한 성읍인 예루살렘으로 갈 수 있는 길을 그려라

( Mark out one road for the sword to come against Rabbah of the Ammonites and another against Judah and fortified Jerusalem.)

 

21:21 바빌로니아 왕이 그 두 길이 시작되는 갈림길에 이르러서는, 어느 길로 가야 할지 알아보려고 점을 칠 것이다 화살들을 흔들거나, 드라빔 우상에게 묻거나, 희생제물의 간을 살펴보고, 점을 칠 것이다

( For the king of Babylon will stop at the fork in the road, at the junction of the two roads, to seek an omen: He will cast lots with arrows, he will consult his idols, he will examine the liver.)

 

21:22 점괘는 오른쪽에 있는 예루살렘으로 가서, 성벽을 허무는 쇠망치를 설치하고, 입을 열어 죽이라는 명령을 내리며, 전투의 함성을 드높이고, 성문마다 성벽을 허무는 쇠망치를 설치하고, 흙 언덕을 쌓고, 높은 사다리를 세우라고 나올 것이다

( Into his right hand will come the lot for Jerusalem, where he is to set up battering rams, to give the command to slaughter, to sound the battle cry, to set battering rams against the gates, to build a ramp and to erect siege works.)

 

21:23 예루살렘 주민에게는 이것이 헛된 점괘로 보이겠지만, 이 점괘는 예루살렘 주민에게 자신들의 죄를 상기시킬 것이며, 예루살렘 주민이 바빌로니아 왕의 손에 잡혀 갈 것임을 경고할 것이다

( It will seem like a false omen to those who have sworn allegiance to him, but he will remind them of their guilt and take them captive.)

( "Therefore this is what the Sovereign LORD says: 'Because you people have brought to mind your guilt by your open rebellion, revealing your sins in all that you do--because you have done this, you will be taken captive.)

 

21:25 너, 극악무도한 이스라엘 왕아, 네가 최후의 형벌을 받을 그 날이 왔고, 그 시각이 되었다

( "'O profane and wicked prince of Israel, whose day has come, whose time of punishment has reached its climax,)

 

21:26 나 주 하나님이 말한다 왕관을 벗기고, 면류관을 제거하여라 이대로 있어서는 안 될 것이다 낮은 사람은 높이고, 높은 사람은 낮추어라!

( this is what the Sovereign LORD says: Take off the turban, remove the crown. It will not be as it was: The lowly will be exalted and the exalted will be brought low.)

 

21:27 내가 무너뜨리고, 무너뜨리고, 또 무너뜨릴 것이다 그러나 이런 일도 다시는 있지 않을 것이다 다스릴 권리가 있는 그 사람이 오면, 나는 그것을 그에게 넘겨 주겠다"

( A ruin! A ruin! I will make it a ruin! It will not be restored until he comes to whom it rightfully belongs; to him I will give it.')

 

암몬을 치는 칼

( "And you, son of man, prophesy and say, 'This is what the Sovereign LORD says about the Ammonites and their insults: "'A sword, a sword, drawn for the slaughter, polished to consume and to flash like lightning!)

 

21:29 점쟁이들이 너에게 보여 주는 점괘는 헛된 것이요, 너에게 전하여 주는 예언도 거짓말이다 네가 죄를 지었으니, 네가 악하니, 그 날이 온다 최후의 심판을 받을 날이 온다 칼이 네 목 위에 떨어질 것이다

( Despite false visions concerning you and lying divinations about you, it will be laid on the necks of the wicked who are to be slain, whose day has come, whose time of punishment has reached its climax.)

 

21:30 칼은 다시 칼집으로 돌아가거라 암몬 자손아, 네가 지음을 받은 곳, 네가 자라난 곳에서 내가 너를 심판하겠다

( Return the sword to its scabbard. In the place where you were created, in the land of your ancestry, I will judge you.)

( The word of the LORD came to me:)

 

22:2 "너 사람아, 심판할 준비가 되었느냐? 저 피 흘린 성읍을 심판할 준비가 되었느냐? 너는 먼저, 그 성읍 사람들이 저지른 모든 역겨운 일을, 그들이 깨닫게 하여라

( "Son of man, will you judge her? Will you judge this city of bloodshed? Then confront her with all her detestable practices)

 

22:3 그들에게 전하여라 '나 주 하나님이 말한다 많은 백성을 죽이고 우상들을 만들어 스스로를 더럽힌 성읍아, 네가 심판 받을 때가 다가온다

( and say: 'This is what the Sovereign LORD says: O city that brings on herself doom by shedding blood in her midst and defiles herself by making idols,)

 

22:4 너는 살인죄를 저질렀고, 우상을 만들어 숭배하였으므로, 너 자신을 더럽혔다 그러므로 네가 심판받을 날이 다가온다 너의 때가 다 되었다 내가 너를, 이방 사람들의 치욕거리가 되게 하고 모든 나라의 조롱거리가 되게 한 까닭도, 바로 여기에 있다

( you have become guilty because of the blood you have shed and have become defiled by the idols you have made. You have brought your days to a close, and the end of your years has come. Therefore I will make you an object of scorn to the nations and a laughingstock to all the countries.)

 

22:5 이미 이름을 더럽히고, 소란스러운 일로 가득 찬 성읍아, 너에게 가까이 있는 사람들이나, 너에게서 멀리 떨어져 있는 사람들이나, 그들이 모두 너를 조롱할 것이다

( Those who are near and those who are far away will mock you, O infamous city, full of turmoil.)

 

22:6 이스라엘의 지도자들은 제각기 자신의 권력을 믿고, 네 안에서 살인을 서슴지 않았다

( "'See how each of the princes of Israel who are in you uses his power to shed blood.)

 

22:7 성읍아, 네 안에서 살고 있는 그들이 아버지와 어머니를 업신여기며, 네 한복판에서 나그네를 학대하고, 네 안에서 고아와 과부를 구박하였다

( In you they have treated father and mother with contempt; in you they have oppressed the alien and mistreated the fatherless and the widow.)

 

22:8 너는 내 거룩한 물건들을 업신여겼으며 내 안식일을 더럽혔다

( You have despised my holy things and desecrated my Sabbaths.)

 

22:9 네 안에는 살인을 하려고 남을 헐뜯는 사람들이 있으며, 네 안에는 산에서 우상의 제물을 먹는 사람들이 있으며, 네 한복판에서 음행을 하는 사람들이 있다

( In you are slanderous men bent on shedding blood; in you are those who eat at the mountain shrines and commit lewd acts.)

 

22:10 네 안에는 아버지의 아내인 계모와 관계하는 자식이 있고, 네 안에는 월경을 하고 있는 부정한 여자와 관계하는 남편이 있다

( In you are those who dishonor their fathers' bed; in you are those who violate women during their period, when they are ceremonially unclean.)

 

22:11 또 이웃 사람의 아내와 더러운 죄를 짓는 남자가 있으며, 음행으로 자기의 며느리를 욕보이는 시아버지가 있으며, 아버지의 딸인 자기 누이를 욕보이는 아들도 네 안에 있다

( In you one man commits a detestable offense with his neighbor's wife, another shamefully defiles his daughter-in-law, and another violates his sister, his own father's daughter.)

 

22:12 돈을 받고 살인을 하는 자도 있고, 고리대금업을 하는 자, 모든 이웃을 억압하고 착취하는 자도, 네 안에 있다 그러면서도 너는 나를 잊고 있다 나 주 하나님의 말이다

( In you men accept bribes to shed blood; you take usury and excessive interest and make unjust gain from your neighbors by extortion. And you have forgotten me, declares the Sovereign LORD.)

 

22:13 네가 착취한 불의한 이익과 네 한복판에서 벌어진 살인 때문에, 내가 분노하여 두 주먹을 불끈 쥐고 벼르고 있다

( "'I will surely strike my hands together at the unjust gain you have made and at the blood you have shed in your midst.)

 

22:14 내가 너를 해치우는 날에, 너의 심장이 배겨 나겠느냐? 네 두 손에 계속 힘이 있겠느냐? 나 주가 말하였으니, 내가 반드시 이루겠다

( Will your courage endure or your hands be strong in the day I deal with you? I the LORD have spoken, and I will do it.)

 

22:15 내가 너의 주민을 이방 사람들 속에 흩으며, 여러 나라로 흩뿌려서, 네게서 더러운 것을 소멸시키겠다

( I will disperse you among the nations and scatter you through the countries; and I will put an end to your uncleanness.)

 

22:16 너는 이방 사람들이 보는 앞에서 스스로 수치를 당할 것이다 그 때에야 비로소 너는, 내가 주인 줄 알게 될 것이다'"

( When you have been defiled in the eyes of the nations, you will know that I am the LORD.'")

 

용광로에 들어간 이스라엘

 

22:17 주님께서 나에게 말씀하셨다

( Then the word of the LORD came to me:)

 

22:18 "사람아, 이스라엘 족속이 내게는 쓸모도 없는 쇠찌꺼기이다 그들은 모두가 은을 정련하고, 용광로 속에 남아 있는 구리와 주석과 쇠와 납의 찌꺼기이다

( "Son of man, the house of Israel has become dross to me; all of them are the copper, tin, iron and lead left inside a furnace. They are but the dross of silver.)

 

22:19 그러므로 나 주 하나님이 말한다 너희가 모두 쇠찌꺼기가 되어 버렸기 때문에, 바로 그렇기 때문에, 내가 너희를 예루살렘의 한가운데 모으고,

( Therefore this is what the Sovereign LORD says: 'Because you have all become dross, I will gather you into Jerusalem.)

 

22:20 사람이 은과 구리와 쇠와 납과 주석을 모두 용광로에 집어 넣고 거기에 풀무질을 하듯이, 나도 내 분노와 노여움으로 너희를 모두 모아다가, 용광로에 집어 넣고 녹여 버리겠다

( As men gather silver, copper, iron, lead and tin into a furnace to melt it with a fiery blast, so will I gather you in my anger and my wrath and put you inside the city and melt you.)

 

22:21 내가 너희를 모아 놓고, 내 격노의 불을 너희에게 뿜어 대면, 너희가 그 속에서 녹을 것이다

( I will gather you and I will blow on you with my fiery wrath, and you will be melted inside her.)

 

22:22 은이 용광로 속에서 녹듯이, 너희도 그 속에서 녹을 것이다 그 때에야 비로소 너희는, 나 주가 너희에게 분노를 쏟아 부은 줄 알 것이다"

( As silver is melted in a furnace, so you will be melted inside her, and you will know that I the LORD have poured out my wrath upon you.'")

 

이스라엘 지도층의 죄

 

22:23 주님께서 나에게 말씀하셨다

( Again the word of the LORD came to me:)

 

22:24 "사람아, 너는 유다 땅에 이렇게 말하여라 '유다 땅아, 너는 진노의 날에 더러움을 벗지 못한 땅이요, 비를 얻지 못한 땅이다

( "Son of man, say to the land, 'You are a land that has had no rain or showers in the day of wrath.')

 

22:25 그 가운데 있는 예언자들은 음모를 꾸미며, 마치 먹이를 뜯는 사자처럼 으르렁댄다 그들이 생명을 죽이며, 재산과 보화를 탈취하며, 그 안에 과부들이 많아지게 하였다

( There is a conspiracy of her princes within her like a roaring lion tearing its prey; they devour people, take treasures and precious things and make many widows within her.)

 

22:26 이 땅의 제사장들은 나의 율법을 위반하고, 나의 거룩한 물건들을 더럽혔다 그들은 거룩한 것과 속된 것을 구별하지 않으며, 부정한 것과 정한 것을 구별하도록 깨우쳐 주지도 않으며, 나의 안식일에 대하여서는 아주 눈을 감아 버렸으므로, 나는 그들 가운데서 모독을 당하였다

( Her priests do violence to my law and profane my holy things; they do not distinguish between the holy and the common; they teach that there is no difference between the unclean and the clean; and they shut their eyes to the keeping of my Sabbaths, so that I am profaned among them.)

 

22:27 그 가운데 있는 지도자들도 먹이를 뜯는 이리 떼와 같아서, 불의한 이득을 얻으려고 사람을 죽이고, 생명을 파멸시켰다

( Her officials within her are like wolves tearing their prey; they shed blood and kill people to make unjust gain.)

 

22:28 그런데도 그 땅의 예언자들은 그들의 죄악을 회칠하여 덮어 주며, 속임수로 환상을 보았다고 하며, 그들에게 거짓으로 점을 쳐 주며, 내가 말하지 않았는데도 나 주 하나님이 한 말이라고 하면서 전한다

( Her prophets whitewash these deeds for them by false visions and lying divinations. They say, 'This is what the Sovereign LORD says'--when the LORD has not spoken.)

 

22:29 이 땅의 백성은, 폭력을 휘두르고 강탈을 일삼는다 그들은 가난하고 못 사는 사람들을 압제하며 나그네를 부당하게 학대하였다

( The people of the land practice extortion and commit robbery; they oppress the poor and needy and mistreat the alien, denying them justice.)

 

22:30 나는 그들 가운데서 한 사람이라도 이 땅을 지키려고 성벽을 쌓고, 무너진 성벽의 틈에 서서, 내가 이 땅을 멸망시키지 못하게 막는 사람이 있는가 찾아 보았으나, 나는 찾지 못하였다

( "I looked for a man among them who would build up the wall and stand before me in the gap on behalf of the land so I would not have to destroy it, but I found none.)

 

22:31 그래서 나는 그들에게 내 분노를 쏟아 부었고, 내 격노의 불길로 그들을 멸절시켰다 나는 그들의 행실을 따라 그들의 머리 위에 갚아 주었다 나 주 하나님의 말이다'"

( So I will pour out my wrath on them and consume them with my fiery anger, bringing down on their own heads all they have done, declares the Sovereign LORD.")

사마리아와 예루살렘의 죄

 

23:1 주님께서 나에게 말씀하셨다

( The word of the LORD came to me:)

 

23:2 "사람아, 두 여인이 있는데, 그들은 한 어머니의 딸들이다

( "Son of man, there were two women, daughters of the same mother.)

 

23:3 그들은 이집트에서부터 이미 음행을 하였다 젊은 시절에 벌써 음행을 하였다 거기서 이미 남자들이 그들의 유방을 짓눌렀고, 거기서 이미 남자들이 그 처녀의 젖가슴을 어루만졌다

( They became prostitutes in Egypt, engaging in prostitution from their youth. In that land their breasts were fondled and their virgin bosoms caressed.)

 

23:4 그들의 이름은, 언니는 오홀라요, 동생은 오홀리바다 그들은 내 사람이 되어, 나와의 사이에서 아들딸을 낳았다 그들을 좀 더 밝히자면, 오홀라는 사마리아이고, 오홀리바는 예루살렘이다

( The older was named Oholah, and her sister was Oholibah. They were mine and gave birth to sons and daughters. Oholah is Samaria, and Oholibah is Jerusalem.)

 

23:5 그런데 오홀라는 나에게 속한 여인이었으면서도, 이웃에 있는 앗시리아의 연인들에게 홀려서 음행하였다

( "Oholah engaged in prostitution while she was still mine; and she lusted after her lovers, the Assyrians--warriors)

 

23:6 그들은 모두 자주색 옷을 입은 총독들과 지휘관들이요, 모두 말을 잘 타는 매력 있는 젊은이들과 기사들이었다

( clothed in blue, governors and commanders, all of them handsome young men, and mounted horsemen.)

 

23:7 그들은 모두가 앗시리아 사람들 가운데서도 빼어난 사람들이었는데, 오홀라가 그들과 음행을 하였으며, 또 누구에게 홀리든지 그들의 온갖 우상으로 자신을 더럽혔다

( She gave herself as a prostitute to all the elite of the Assyrians and defiled herself with all the idols of everyone she lusted after.)

 

23:8 오홀라는 이집트에서부터 음란한 행실을 버리지 않았다 그는 젊은 시절에 이미 이집트의 젊은이들과 잠자리를 같이 하여서, 그들이 그의 처녀 젖가슴을 만졌고, 그에게 정욕을 쏟아 부었다

( She did not give up the prostitution she began in Egypt, when during her youth men slept with her, caressed her virgin bosom and poured out their lust upon her.)

 

23:9 그래서 내가 그를 그의 연인들 곧 그가 홀린 앗시리아 사람의 손에 넘겨 주었더니,

( "Therefore I handed her over to her lovers, the Assyrians, for whom she lusted.)

 

23:10 그들이 그의 하체를 드러내고 그의 아들딸들을 붙잡아 갔으며, 끝내는 그를 칼로 죽였다 그는 심판을 받아 여인들의 입에 오르내리게 되었다

( They stripped her naked, took away her sons and daughters and killed her with the sword. She became a byword among women, and punishment was inflicted on her.)

 

23:11 그의 동생 오홀리바는 이것을 보고서도, 자기 언니의 음란한 행실보다 더 음란하여, 자기 언니보다 더 많이 홀리고 타락하였다

( "Her sister Oholibah saw this, yet in her lust and prostitution she was more depraved than her sister.)

 

23:12 그는 앗시리아의 사람들에게 홀렸는데, 그들은 모두 화려한 옷을 입은 총독들과 지휘관들이며, 모두 말을 잘 타는 기사요, 매력 있는 젊은이들이었다

( She too lusted after the Assyrians--governors and commanders, warriors in full dress, mounted horsemen, all handsome young men.)

 

23:13 내가 보니, 그도 자신을 더럽혔다 그 두 자매가 똑같은 길을 걸었다

( I saw that she too defiled herself; both of them went the same way.)

 

23:14 그런데 오홀리바가 더 음탕하였다 그는 남자들의 모양을 벽에다가 새겨 놓고 쳐다보았는데, 붉은 색으로 새겨진 바빌로니아 사람들의 모양이었다

( "But she carried her prostitution still further. She saw men portrayed on a wall, figures of Chaldeans portrayed in red,)

 

23:15 그들의 허리에는 띠를 동이고, 머리에는 감긴 수건이 늘어져 있다 그들은 모두 우두머리들과 같아 보이고, 갈대아가 고향인 바빌로니아 사람들과 같은 모습이었다

( with belts around their waists and flowing turbans on their heads; all of them looked like Babylonian chariot officers, natives of Chaldea.)

 

23:16 오홀리바는 그런 모습을 보고, 그들에게 홀려서, 바빌로니아로 사람들을 보내어 그들을 불러왔다

( As soon as she saw them, she lusted after them and sent messengers to them in Chaldea.)

 

23:17 바빌로니아 사람들이 그에게 와서, 연애하는 침실로 들어가, 음행을 하여 그를 더럽혔다 그가 그들에게 더럽혀진 뒤에는 그의 마음이 그들에게서 멀어졌다

( Then the Babylonians came to her, to the bed of love, and in their lust they defiled her. After she had been defiled by them, she turned away from them in disgust.)

 

23:18 오홀리바는 이렇게 드러내 놓고 음행을 하며, 자신의 알몸을 드러냈다 그래서 내 마음이 그의 언니에게서 멀어진 것과 같이, 그에게서도 멀어지게 되었다

( When she carried on her prostitution openly and exposed her nakedness, I turned away from her in disgust, just as I had turned away from her sister.)

 

23:19 그런데도 그는 음행을 더하여, 이집트 땅에서 음란하게 살던 자신의 젊은 시절을 늘 회상하였다

( Yet she became more and more promiscuous as she recalled the days of her youth, when she was a prostitute in Egypt.)

 

23:20 그는, 정욕이 나귀와 같이 강하고 정액이 말과 같이 많은 이집트의 사내들과 연애를 하였다"

( There she lusted after her lovers, whose genitals were like those of donkeys and whose emission was like that of horses.)

 

예루살렘이 받은 심판

 

23:21 "너는 젊은 시절의 음란한 생활을 그리워한다 너의 처녀 시절에 이집트의 사내들이 너의 유방을 만지고 너의 젖가슴을 어루만지던 것을, 너는 그리워한다

( So you longed for the lewdness of your youth, when in Egypt your bosom was caressed and your young breasts fondled.)

 

23:22 그러므로 오홀리바야, 나 주 하나님이 말한다 나는 네가 정을 뗀 네 정부들을 충동시켜서, 그들이 사방에서 와서 너를 치게 하겠다

( "Therefore, Oholibah, this is what the Sovereign LORD says: I will stir up your lovers against you, those you turned away from in disgust, and I will bring them against you from every side--)

 

23:23 그들은 바빌로니아 사람과 갈대아의 모든 무리 곧 브곳과 소아와 고아 사람들과 또 그들과 함께 있는 모든 앗시리아 사람들이다 그들은 모두 하나같이 매력 있는 젊은이들이요, 총독들과 지휘관들이요, 모두가 우두머리들과 유명한 사람들이요, 말을 잘 타는 기사들이다

( the Babylonians and all the Chaldeans, the men of Pekod and Shoa and Koa, and all the Assyrians with them, handsome young men, all of them governors and commanders, chariot officers and men of high rank, all mounted on horses.)

 

23:24 그들이 무기와 병거와 수레와 대군을 거느리고 너를 치러 올 것이다 그들은 크고 작은 방패와 투구로 무장을 하고, 사방에서 너를 치러 올 것이다 나는 심판권을 그들에게 넘겨 줄 것이고, 그들은 자기들의 관습에 따라서 너를 심판할 것이다

( They will come against you with weapons, chariots and wagons and with a throng of people; they will take up positions against you on every side with large and small shields and with helmets. I will turn you over to them for punishment, and they will punish you according to their standards.)

 

23:25 내가 질투하여 너희에게 분노를 터트리면, 그들이 너를 사납게 다룰 것이다 그들이 너의 코와 귀를 잘라낼 것이며, 남은 사람들도 칼로 쓰러뜨릴 것이다 너의 아들과 딸은 붙잡혀 가고, 너에게서 남은 것들은 불에 타 죽을 것이다

( I will direct my jealous anger against you, and they will deal with you in fury. They will cut off your noses and your ears, and those of you who are left will fall by the sword. They will take away your sons and daughters, and those of you who are left will be consumed by fire.)

 

23:26 그들이 너의 옷을 벗기고, 화려한 장식품들을 빼앗아 갈 것이다

( They will also strip you of your clothes and take your fine jewelry.)

 

23:27 이렇게 해서, 나는, 네가 이집트 땅에서부터 하던 음란한 생활과 행실을 그치게 하겠다 그러면 네가 다시는 그들에게 눈을 들 수도 없고, 이집트를 다시 기억할 수도 없을 것이다

( So I will put a stop to the lewdness and prostitution you began in Egypt. You will not look on these things with longing or remember Egypt anymore.)

 

23:28 참으로 나 주 하나님이 말한다 나는, 네가 미워하는 사람들의 손에, 곧 네 마음이 멀어진 사람들의 손에 너를 넘겨 주겠다

( "For this is what the Sovereign LORD says: I am about to hand you over to those you hate, to those you turned away from in disgust.)

 

23:29 그들이 미워하는 마음을 품고 너를 다루며, 네가 수고한 것을 모두 빼앗아 가며, 너를 벌거벗겨 알몸으로 버려 두어, 음행하던 네 알몸, 곧 네 음행과 음탕한 생활을 드러낼 것이다

( They will deal with you in hatred and take away everything you have worked for. They will leave you naked and bare, and the shame of your prostitution will be exposed. Your lewdness and promiscuity)

 

23:30 네가 그런 형벌을 당하게 될 것이니, 이는 네가 이방 사람들을 쫓아다니며 음행을 하고, 그들의 여러 우상으로 네 몸을 더럽혔기 때문이다

( have brought this upon you, because you lusted after the nations and defiled yourself with their idols.)

 

23:31 네가 네 언니의 길을 그대로 따라갔으니, 나는 네 언니가 마신 잔을 네 손에 넘겨 주겠다

( You have gone the way of your sister; so I will put her cup into your hand.)

 

23:32 나 주 하나님이 말한다 네 언니가 마신 잔을 너도 마실 것이다 우묵하고 넓은 잔에 가득 넘치도록 마시고, 웃음거리와 우롱거리가 될 것이다

( "This is what the Sovereign LORD says: "You will drink your sister's cup, a cup large and deep; it will bring scorn and derision, for it holds so much.)

 

23:33 너는 잔뜩 취하고 근심에 싸일 것이다 그것은 공포와 멸망의 잔이요, 네 언니 사마리아가 마신 잔이다

( You will be filled with drunkenness and sorrow, the cup of ruin and desolation, the cup of your sister Samaria.)

 

23:34 너는 그 잔을 다 기울여 말끔히 비우고, 그 잔을 조각내어 씹으며, 네 유방을 쥐어뜯을 것이다 내가 이렇게 말하였으니, 반드시 그렇게 될 것이다 나 주 하나님의 말이다

( You will drink it and drain it dry; you will dash it to pieces and tear your breasts. I have spoken, declares the Sovereign LORD.)

 

23:35 그러므로 나 주 하나님이 말한다 네가 나를 잊었고, 나를 네 등 뒤로 밀쳐 놓았으니, 이제는 네가 음란한 생활과 음행에 대한 벌을 받아야 한다"

( "Therefore this is what the Sovereign LORD says: Since you have forgotten me and thrust me behind your back, you must bear the consequences of your lewdness and prostitution.")

 

오홀라와 오홀리바가 받은 심판

 

23:36 주님께서 또 나에게 말씀하셨다 "사람아, 네가 오홀라와 오홀리바를 심판하지 않겠느냐? 두 자매의 역겨운 일들을, 네가 그들에게 알려 주어라

( The LORD said to me: "Son of man, will you judge Oholah and Oholibah? Then confront them with their detestable practices,)

 

23:37 그들은 간음을 하였으며, 손으로 피를 흘렸으며, 우상들과도 간음을 하였으며, 또 나에게 낳아 준 제 아들딸들마저 불 속으로 지나가게 하여 태워 죽였다

( for they have committed adultery and blood is on their hands. They committed adultery with their idols; they even sacrificed their children, whom they bore to me, as food for them.)

 

23:38 더욱이 그들은 나에게까지 이런 일을 하였다 바로 같은 날에, 그들은 내 성소를 더럽히고, 내 안식일을 범하였다

( They have also done this to me: At that same time they defiled my sanctuary and desecrated my Sabbaths.)

 

23:39 그들은 자기 자식들을 잡아 죽여서 우상들에게 바친 바로 그 날에, 내 성소에 들어와서 더럽혔으니, 그들이 내 성전의 한가운데서 그런 일을 하였다

( On the very day they sacrificed their children to their idols, they entered my sanctuary and desecrated it. That is what they did in my house.)

 

23:40 그들이 사람을 보내어 먼 곳에서 사내들을 초청하였더니, 그들이 왔다 두 자매는 그들을 맞으려고 목욕을 하고 눈썹을 그리고 패물로 장식을 하고,

( "They even sent messengers for men who came from far away, and when they arrived you bathed yourself for them, painted your eyes and put on your jewelry.)

 

23:41 화려한 방석을 깔고 앉아, 앞에 상을 차려 놓고, 그들은 그 상 위에 내가 준 향과 기름까지 가져다 놓고,

( You sat on an elegant couch, with a table spread before it on which you had placed the incense and oil that belonged to me.)

 

23:42 그 사내들과 지껄이고 즐겼다 광야에서 잡된 무리와 술취한 무리를 데려오니, 그들은 그 두 자매의 손에 팔찌를 끼워 주고, 머리에 화려한 관을 씌워 주었다

( "The noise of a carefree crowd was around her; Sabeans were brought from the desert along with men from the rabble, and they put bracelets on the arms of the woman and her sister and beautiful crowns on their heads.)

 

23:43 이것을 보고, 나는 '별 잡된 무리가 다 있구나 두 자매가 음행으로 시들어 빠진 다 늙은 창녀인 줄 알았는데, 아직도 찾아오는 얼빠진 녀석들이 있구나' 하는 생각이 들었다

( Then I said about the one worn out by adultery, 'Now let them use her as a prostitute, for that is all she is.')

 

23:44 광야에서 온 잡된 무리와 취객들은 창녀에게 드나들듯 두 자매에게 드나들었다 과연 그들은 음란한 여인 오홀라와 오홀리바에게 드나들었다

( And they slept with her. As men sleep with a prostitute, so they slept with those lewd women, Oholah and Oholibah.)

 

23:45 그러나 의인들이 있어서, 바로 그들이 간음한 여인들과 살인한 여인들을 심판하듯이, 그 두 자매를 심판할 것이다 그 두 자매가 간음을 하였고, 그들의 손에 피가 묻어 있기 때문이다

( But righteous men will sentence them to the punishment of women who commit adultery and shed blood, because they are adulterous and blood is on their hands.)

 

23:46 나 주 하나님이 말한다 회중을 소집하여 그 자매들을 치게 하여라 그들이 겁에 질려 떨면서 약탈을 당하게 하여라

( "This is what the Sovereign LORD says: Bring a mob against them and give them over to terror and plunder.)

 

23:47 회중이 그 자매들에게 돌을 던지고, 그들을 칼로 쳐서 죽이고, 그 자매들의 아들딸들도 죽이고, 그들의 집도 불태울 것이다

( The mob will stone them and cut them down with their swords; they will kill their sons and daughters and burn down their houses.)

 

23:48 나는 이렇게 해서, 음란한 행위를 이 땅에서 없애 버려, 모든 여인이 경고를 받아, 너희의 음행을 본받지 않게 하겠다

( "So I will put an end to lewdness in the land, that all women may take warning and not imitate you.)

 

23:49 너희가 음행을 저지른 이유로 형벌을 받고 나면, 그리고 너희가 우상들을 섬기다가 지은 죄에 대한 징벌을 받고 나면, 그 때에야 너희는 내가 주 하나님인 줄 알게 될 것이다"

( You will suffer the penalty for your lewdness and bear the consequences of your sins of idolatry. Then you will know that I am the Sovereign LORD.")

씻어도 소용없는 솥 예루살렘

 

24:1 제 구년 열째 달 십일에, 주님께서 내게 말씀하셨다

( In the ninth year, in the tenth month on the tenth day, the word of the LORD came to me:)

 

24:2 "사람아, 너는 오늘 날짜, 바로 오늘 날짜를 기록하여 두어라 바빌로니아 왕이 바로 오늘 예루살렘을 치기 시작하였다

( "Son of man, record this date, this very date, because the king of Babylon has laid siege to Jerusalem this very day.)

 

24:3 너는 저 반역하는 족속에게 한 가지 비유를 들어 그들에게 말하여라 '나 주 하나님이 말한다 가마솥을 마련하여 걸고, 물을 부어라

( Tell this rebellious house a parable and say to them: 'This is what the Sovereign LORD says: "'Put on the cooking pot; put it on and pour water into it.)

 

24:4 그 속에 고깃점들을 넣어라 좋은 살코기와 넓적다리와 어깨를 골라서 모두 집어 넣고, 모든 뼈 가운데서 좋은 것들을 골라서 가득 넣어라

( Put into it the pieces of meat, all the choice pieces--the leg and the shoulder. Fill it with the best of these bones;)

 

24:5 양 떼 가운데서 가장 좋은 것을 잡아 넣어라 아궁이에 장작불을 지펴라 그 고기를 잘 삶되 가마솥 안의 뼈까지 무르도록 삶아라

( take the pick of the flock. Pile wood beneath it for the bones; bring it to a boil and cook the bones in it.)

 

24:6 그러므로 나 주 하나님이 말한다 죄 없는 사람을 죽인 살인자의 성읍아, 속이 시뻘건 녹을 한 번도 씻지 않은 녹슨 가마솥아, 너에게 화가 미칠 것이다 제비를 뽑을 것도 없이, 그 안에 든 고기를 하나하나 다 꺼내어라

( "'For this is what the Sovereign LORD says: "'Woe to the city of bloodshed, to the pot now encrusted, whose deposit will not go away! Empty it piece by piece without casting lots for them.)

 

24:7 죄 없는 사람을 죽인 피가 그 성읍 한가운데 그대로 남아 있다 피가 흙으로 덮이지도 못하였다 그 피가 흙 위에 쏟아지지 않고 맨바위 위에 쏟아졌기 때문이다

( "'For the blood she shed is in her midst: She poured it on the bare rock; she did not pour it on the ground, where the dust would cover it.)

 

24:8 그 피가 흙에 덮이지 않게 맨바위에 쏟아 놓은 것은 바로 나다 내가 분노를 일으켜 호되게 보복하려고 한 것이다

( To stir up wrath and take revenge I put her blood on the bare rock, so that it would not be covered.)

 

24:9 그러므로 나 주 하나님이 말한다 죄 없는 사람을 죽인 살인자의 성읍아, 너에게 화가 미칠 것이다 내가 장작 더미를 높이 쌓아 놓겠다

( "'Therefore this is what the Sovereign LORD says: "'Woe to the city of bloodshed! I, too, will pile the wood high.)

 

24:10 나무를 많이 쌓고 불을 지펴서, 고기를 푹 삶아서 녹이고, 고기 국물을 바싹 졸이고, 뼈는 태워 버려라

( So heap on the wood and kindle the fire. Cook the meat well, mixing in the spices; and let the bones be charred.)

 

24:11 그 빈 가마솥을 숯불 위에 올려 놓아, 가마솥을 뜨거워지게 하며, 가마솥의 놋쇠를 달궈서, 가마솥 안의 더러운 것을 녹이며, 가마솥의 녹을 태워 없애라

( Then set the empty pot on the coals till it becomes hot and its copper glows so its impurities may be melted and its deposit burned away.)

 

24:12 이 성읍이 온갖 고생으로 지쳤으나, 그 많은 녹이 가마솥에서 없어지지 않으며, 불로 아무리 달구어도 녹이 없어지지 않는다

( It has frustrated all efforts; its heavy deposit has not been removed, not even by fire.)

 

24:13 너의 더러운 죄 가운데는 음행이 있다 음행으로 더러워진 너의 몸을 내가 깨끗하게 하려 하였으나, 네가 너 자신의 더러움에서 깨끗하게 되려고 하지 않았으니, 내가 너에게 분노를 다 쏟을 때까지는, 네가 다시 깨끗하게 되지 못할 것이다

( "'Now your impurity is lewdness. Because I tried to cleanse you but you would not be cleansed from your impurity, you will not be clean again until my wrath against you has subsided.)

 

24:14 나 주가 말하였으니, 반드시 이루어진다 내가 그대로 하겠다 내가 돌이키지 않으며, 아끼지도 않으며, 뉘우치지도 않겠다 너의 모든 행실과 너의 모든 행위대로 네가 심판을 받을 것이다 나 주 하나님의 말이다'"

( "'I the LORD have spoken. The time has come for me to act. I will not hold back; I will not have pity, nor will I relent. You will be judged according to your conduct and your actions, declares the Sovereign LORD.'")

 

에스겔의 아내가 죽다

 

24:15 주님께서 나에게 말씀하셨다

( The word of the LORD came to me:)

 

24:16 "사람아, 나는 너의 눈에 들어 좋아하는 사람을 단번에 쳐죽여, 너에게서 빼앗아 가겠다 그래도 너는 슬퍼하거나 울거나 눈물을 흘리지 말아라

( "Son of man, with one blow I am about to take away from you the delight of your eyes. Yet do not lament or weep or shed any tears.)

 

24:17 너는 고요히 탄식하며, 죽은 사람을 두고 슬퍼하지 말고, 오히려 머리를 수건으로 동이고, 발에 신을 신어라 또 수염을 가리지도 말고, 초상집 음식을 차려서 먹지도 말아라"

( Groan quietly; do not mourn for the dead. Keep your turban fastened and your sandals on your feet; do not cover the lower part of your face or eat the customary food of mourners.")

 

24:18 아침에 내가 백성에게 이 이야기를 하였는데, 나의 아내가 저녁에 죽었다 나는 그 다음날 아침에 지시를 받은 대로 하였다

( So I spoke to the people in the morning, and in the evening my wife died. The next morning I did as I had been commanded.)

 

24:19 그러자 백성이 나에게 물었다 내가 하고 있는 일이 자기들에게 무엇을 뜻하는지 알려 주지 않겠느냐는 것이었다

( Then the people asked me, "Won't you tell us what these things have to do with us?")

 

24:20 그래서 나는 '주님께서 나에게 이렇게 말씀하셨다'고 하면서 그들에게 대답하였다

( So I said to them, "The word of the LORD came to me:)

 

24:21 너는 이스라엘 족속에게 전하여라 나 주 하나님이 말한다 너희 권세의 자랑이요, 너희 눈에 들어 좋아하는 것이요, 너희가 마음으로 사모하는 내 성소를 이제 내가 더럽히겠다 너희가 이 성읍에 남겨 둔 너희의 아들과 딸들도 칼에 쓰러질 것이다

( Say to the house of Israel, 'This is what the Sovereign LORD says: I am about to desecrate my sanctuary--the stronghold in which you take pride, the delight of your eyes, the object of your affection. The sons and daughters you left behind will fall by the sword.)

 

24:22 그래도 너희는 에스겔이 한 것과 똑같이 하게 될 것이다 너희는 수염을 가리지도 못하고, 초상집 음식을 차려서 먹지도 못할 것이다

( And you will do as I have done. You will not cover the lower part of your face or eat the customary food of mourners.)

 

24:23 너희는 머리에 수건을 동이고, 발에 신을 신은 채로 그대로 있을 것이며, 탄식하지도 못하고 울지도 못할 것이다 오히려 너희는 너희 자신의 죄로 망하는 줄 알고 서로 마주 보며 탄식할 것이다

( You will keep your turbans on your heads and your sandals on your feet. You will not mourn or weep but will waste away because of your sins and groan among yourselves.)

 

24:24 에스겔이 이와 같이 너희에게 표징이 될 것이다 너희도 그가 한 것과 똑같이 하게 될 것이다 이 일이 이루어질 때에야, 너희는 비로소 내가 주 하나님인 줄 알게 될 것이다'

( Ezekiel will be a sign to you; you will do just as he has done. When this happens, you will know that I am the Sovereign LORD.')

 

24:25 "그러나 너 사람아, 내가 그들에게서, 그들의 요새, 그들의 기쁨과 영광과 그들의 눈에 들어 좋아하며 마음으로 사모하는 것을 빼앗고, 그들의 아들딸들을 데려가는 날,

( "And you, son of man, on the day I take away their stronghold, their joy and glory, the delight of their eyes, their heart's desire, and their sons and daughters as well--)

 

24:26 그 날에는 탈출한 사람이 너에게 와서, 네 귀에 소식을 전하여 줄 것이다

( on that day a fugitive will come to tell you the news.)

 

24:27 그 날에 네 입이 열려 그 탈출한 사람에게 이야기를 하고, 다시는 말을 못하는 사람이 되지 않을 것이다 네가 이와 같이 그들에게 표징이 되면, 그 때에야 그들이 비로소, 내가 주인 줄 알게 될 것이다"

( At that time your mouth will be opened; you will speak with him and will no longer be silent. So you will be a sign to them, and they will know that I am the LORD.")
